A late start after heavy night but I feel a lot better than I ought to!
After a quick walk with Tot I packed a picnic using the leftover pork and then we went down to the Swiss Chalet for breakfast. Kirsty and James had the full yodel which, when ordered the chef yodels from the kitchen and when the owner, who is Swiss and also the waitress, serves it she also yodels much to Kirsty and James embarrassment. Jon had poached eggs and I had fruit and muesli, very good.
Heather decided not to come with us and went shopping with Emma. We set off to the Karangahake Gorge. It was really lovely there and we had a lovely walk but a long way to the waterfall for our picnic. Kirsty wasn't too happy but she didn't moan and it was very pretty at the waterfall.
The walk back was not too bad and James took a different route as he wanted to climb up some stairs so we could see him up higher on the other side of the gorge and then we met him at the car park.
We went to Waihi on the way back and went to see Martha's mine which is a working gold mine and very impressive.
When we got back we had a cuppa and a few minutes rest before taking Tot out and then off out to see the demolition Derby that was cancelled last weekend. We had to have a burger and chips there as we had no time for dinner before we left.
The racing was very good and the demolition Derby a lot of fun. It was followed by a very good firework display.
It was then home and to bed ready for another early start tomorrow!
WEATHER
