I had to get some housework done first thing as things were getting a bit messy and I hate mess. James is very good with the vacuum cleaner though so not so bad.
We took Tot for a walk to the park and I did some washing before we went out to Te Puna Quarry Park. We walked up to the top and James loved the views but Kirsty was not happy as she hates walking so I don't think she is going to go up the Mount.
We then went on to Katikati and managed to get to a bar for a coffee before a heavy shower of rain.
We walked around the town looking at all the murals and Kirsty had said she would like to see a kingfisher and as they have lots down by the river we decided to go for a walk along river which would have been very nice had it not been for the heavy shower that came over and no place to shelter so we got wet again and didn't see any kingfishers and there are usually lots of them.
We then drove to the bird gardens and arrived in another shower of rain so we sat and ate a very nice lunch there until it stopped and then we set off round the gardens with out bags of bird food.
I had warned Kirsty and James about the doves but they were still taken by surprise at the speed they descended on us. It was so funny, we had birds everywhere and they even managed to help themselves to the food out of the bag in my hand. It was lots of fun. We also fed the ducks and various other birds around these lovely gardens and no more rain.
Another trip to the supermarket to buy dinner and then home in time to cook corned beef. This is not like English corned beef it is more like gammon but it is beef and Kirsty and James really liked it so it was just as well I had bought a big piece. I did some ironing while I was waiting for the dinner to cook.
We all had another reasonably early night, this sightseeing is very tiring.
WEATHER
Warm and sunny but heavy showers 21 degrees
