Sunday and breakfast near the beach

We decided on having breakfast at the Tay Street cafe near the Mount this morning as it is bank holiday weekend. Totty was confused as we went for breakfast and didn't take her for a walk.

It was sunny but a bit windy but warm enough to eat outside. I had poached eggs on granary bread with grilled tomato and Jon had the same but with bacon and no tomato. It was very good and I had coffee and Jon had orange juice and then I had another coffee when we had eaten, yummy.

When we got back we walked Totty down to Rotary Park where it was very quiet and sheltered from the wind.

After doing my farming on Facebook to which I am now addicted we had lunch (it was by now 1.30) and then went off to visit Katikati Bird Park. This is a lovely park with beautiful gardens and lots of water features. I bought a bag of food to feed the ducks, doves and geese. It was really funny as as soon as they hear the paper bag they all come running for the food and are so tame they will feed from your hand. We spent a long time walking around looking at all the birds and walking along the various paths. Will certainly visit again.

Back home we had a cup of tea and gave my bunion a rest before taking Totty out for a walk. I saw Peter and he didn't seem too upset by what Totty did to their dog so I am quite relieved about that.

Came back and made a new recipe of duck with juniper berries. The only trouble was I could not find the juniper berries in any shop and the duck was even more elusive so I used chicken breast with garlic, thyme, rosemary and olive oil marinade! Not so different. I did find the quince jelly to make the sauce which went very well with the chicken!
