It was pouring with rain this morning so the helicopter flight was cancelled and has been put in for tomorrow morning - fingers crossed.
We had to go over to Bay Fair this morning to the pharmacy as Heather has conjunctivitis in one eye and I didn't want it to spread to the other. We got some eye drops for $16 and they have to go in her eye every two hours much to her disgust. We had time for coffee and a muffin then set off to the Kiwi park in Rotorua in the rain!
It is quite a small park but well set out and as I told the ticket office we were from Tauranga (well we are British living there) we got an annual Bay of Plenty pass for less than the price of three adults so we had a bargain day. Jon and I will go back there again in the summer as they do night/evening walks and we would like to see more kiwis. We did manage to see one in a nocturnal enclosure and they look very clumsy but cute. After a cold walk around the park looking at other native birds and lots of fish, mainly trout, we went into Rotorua for lunch at the Fat Dog again, it is very good there.
We then visited the Rotorua Museum which was very good and we watched a film about the Tarawera volcano eruption in 1886 with movement!!! which gave everyone a fright but it was very good. The building used to be a healing bath house, probably one of the first health farms in NZ. I think Jon and I will go back again as there is a lot to see.
We walked up to the roof tower and had a look out over Rotorua. There is soooo much to see in Rotorua.
We didn't get home till 5.30 just as well it was only a stir fry for dinner.
Fingers crossed for the helicopter ride tomorrow.
Heather's eye is looking much better. Shame Totty hasn't had a walk for two days.
