Sunday and the weather was set to be bad.....

........but it was a nice day.

It rained so much last night and was so loud on the roof I thought I would never get to sleep but I did and when I was woken by the dog at 5.30, as she needed to go out, it was raining quite gently.

This morning we had all decided to have a lie in and not rush about but it turned out to be a mistake as the weather was good and we should really have had an early start and gone off somewhere. As it was we didn't get out till about 12.30 and drove down to Whakatane. It was a pleasant drive down the coast to this small town with a large population of Maori and Dutch people.

Much to Heather's delight we had a Subway for lunch and then drove down to the beach. It was very cold and windy and the ocean was very rough but there were still people surfing - mad.

We got home in time for a cup of tea and lit the fire so it was nice and cosy.

I am really beginning to feel I need a rest but I am not looking forward to Heather leaving, only 10 days left.

This evening I have enjoyed looking at Philip and Hayley's wedding photos online. I am sure Mary must be very excited about Kathryn's forthcoming wedding and then she will be looking forward to the grandchildren.
