Heather and I visited the Historic Village today and I spoke to a Kiwi there who, like many others, told me that this weather is very unusual and they never have it as cold as this in this part of NZ - it doesn't help! Today was quite nice after all the rain we have had to see the sun again was good.
We took the dog to Te Puna Quarry Park where Jon and I have been a couple of times before. It is very pretty there but they have had a couple of land slides due to all the rain but Heather enjoyed it and the views from the top.
This evening we made a chilli for dinner followed by apple crumble and we had to make the custard the old fashioned way but it did taste much better than the instant stuff.
I am getting very good at lighting the fire everyday now and the house is much warmer and it is nice to know we won't run out of wood for a while.
Jon has to go to Australia for two days next week so Heather is already planning for us to have Domino pizza again!
