Too windy for the helicopter....

.... so it was cancelled again and we went off to Orakei Korako another thermal village near Taupo and then onto Craters of the Moon. We were so busy all day I think we will sleep for weeks when Heather leaves.

The first thermal park was way off the beaten track and across a lake on a short ferry ride and it was really pretty. It took about an hour and a half to get round looking at all the silicaterraces made by the geysers and hot springs. There is also a geothermal cave with a small pond in the bottom and it is said to make your jewellery clean so Heather cleaned all of hers and true to say they did look shiny. You go down some very steep steps to get to the bottom and it was hard on the legs coming back up again!

After the park we went into Taupo for lunch before going to Craters of the Moon. This is a huge flatish area with lots of steaming craters and you walk around on boardwalks. There are lovely views and it is quite different to the other parks and not so commercial.

We then had a long drive home getting here about 6.00 - poor Totty was more than ready for her dinner.
