We popped into town to do some souvenir shopping this morning before going to do the weekly shop. I now have so much stuff in my cupboards that Heather could live on it until she leaves.
We had a lovely fish finger pannini for lunch today. I can't remember the last time I had a fish finger sandwich but it was very good.
As it was such a lovely day we thought we would take a drive along the coast towards Whakatane but we only got as far as Kiwi 360 and stopped in the souvenir shop for ages and by the time we had finished it was too late to go any further. We have managed to waste so much time over the last six weeks but it has been a lot of fun doing so.
We got back home and fed the dog before taking her out for a walk.
It was nice to light the fire and just sit down and enjoy a cup of tea while Heather made Lollie cake. This is a typical NZ cake made with malt biscuits, butter, condensed milk and Eskimo shaped sweets (huge jelly baby shaped sweets that are like marshmallows) and a million calories! She discovered it the second week here and has been addicted since and now she knows how to make it I will have to send her parcels of Eskimos to UK.
Jon arrived home at 7.45 and brought our fish and chips with him. He had a good trip to Melbourne and thinks we should visit and have a look around, he will have to go over there every four months or so.
