When we got up this morning Jon was in pain with his sun burnt legs - he won't forget to cream them again!
The walk with Totty was hot but with a cool breeze.
We did think of going to Rotorua today but the forecast is for quite high temperatures so we will wait until the autumn.
Thought we would go over to Bay Fair and see if Jon could get a haircut but it was too busy. After 29 years being married Jon has never come clothes shopping with me but he did today! I need some cropped trousers as all my clothes are either now too big on me or not casual enough for over here. I can't remember how many pairs I tried on but eventually managed to but two pairs of cropped trousers and a casual skirt so a successful trip and no argument!
Jon had cleaned the BBQ before we left so we went to Farmer Jones and bought food for our first BBQ.
After lunch it was just so hot I had to have a siesta!
In the evening we went over to Yatton Park, about ten minutes from here. It has some of the oldest trees in NZ and is really lovely and cool to walk there. Walking through the woods is lovely as there are so many birds but the cicadas are so noisy they are bad enough outside our deck but in the woods they scream at you.
When we got back I went to see my neighbour, Margaret, she had brought me a lot of leaflets from Nelson so I popped round to get them from her while Jon lit the BBQ - it's gas so not much skill required.
We enjoyed our first outdoor cooking and the weather was still so warm, 28 degrees when we went to bed! We set the fan in the bedroom to go off in two hours but when it did the room was very hot so I woke up and had to put it back on again. I woke up at 5.00 dreaming I was in a shoe shop and the AC was very cold - I got up and switched the fan off! All in all a very restless night!
