Sydney, Friday

After a good nights sleep, despite worrying about how I would get down 43 flights of stairs if there was a fire, we ordered breakfast from a cafe and they delivered it to our room which was very nice.

It was a lovely day and we found our way to the harbour and got on the first ferry to go to the zoo. My first impression of Sydney harbour, bridge and opera house will stay with me forever. It is such a lovely place and looks so much better than the photos. We had lots of photo opportunities and snapped away from every angle.

We arrived at the zoo and you have to go up in a chairlift which turned out to be quite a nice ride even though I hate heights. At the top of the park the first thing we saw were the koalas and they are so cute. We booked to have a photo taken with them. It is the law in NSW that you cannot hold or touch the koalas so you just have to stand by them and we got a nice souvenir photo and a DVD.

The zoo was really busy and there seemed to be hundreds of school parties there but we really enjoyed it and the views across to the city are amazing and we saw a Komodo dragon.

We were very tired when we got back to the apartments as we had been walking since 8.30 and it was now 4.30.

After a rest and a change we went out to Darling Harbourside for dinner and I had some very nice salmon. It started to rain and we managed to get back before we got too wet.

The apartment lift plays havoc with your ears both up and down.
