Well, I have a bit of catching up to do!!
FRIDAY
Kirsty called just as I was about to leave for work and so I had a very quick word with her and then passed her over to Jon.
I left to go to the shop and when I arrived it was closed and had been for most of the week due to the builders being in and sorting out the new processing centre. The annual sale had only been on for two days as it was considered better to close the shop and do the building work and the changeover to summer stock all at the same time. I walked into a shambles with boxes everywhere.
Sharon and I got stuck in and started putting out summer stock and the morning flew by. I decided to stay on longer and bought a sandwich for my lunch to have there and then go straight to the hospital to meet Jon for his appointment at 3.00.
Jon went down to the Mount and had a coffee and his usual walk before going home. He left later to go for lunch and then to a meeting with his new boss to discuss his contract.
I left the shop and went to the hospital and arrived just as Jon was being called in and he was looking out for me. The meeting with the surgeon went well and he says he will do the next surgery in another two months time. He said it will be a bigger operation than the last one as he will need to open him up more. Although this is potentially more serious he said he needs to do it this way to get a better result.
He gave Jon a form to have his next blood test and also sent off a form for a CT scan to make sure his liver is still clear - this is usual after twelve months. Hopefully, he won't need a drain this time and will only be in hospital for two nights and then should be able to work from home till he is well.
We went straight home and I had a cup of tea but felt very tired after my busy day.
I had arranged to pick up Sharon and Margaret to go to see Tarnished Frocks and Divas. This show is put on every two years in aid of breast cancer and my friend Bronwyn is the stage manager. This years show was better than ever and instead of the usual three or four performances they were doing seven shows.
We met up with Les and Fiona at the arena and had a drink before taking our seats.
The show was amazing and we all had a great time.
I got home about 10-.30 and was very tired which is why I didn't do my blog.
SATURDAY
I was due to go and have a walk around the Mount with the Lions ladies this morning but as I had not spoken to Kirsty yesterday she called this morning and we had a long chat which made it too late to go for my walk.
Kirsty and James are having big problems with sorting out the house and it is now 11 weeks and things should be sorted but they aren't due to some issues with the roof tiles not being correct. Top and bottom of it is it is all in the hands of the insurance company as to if the builder has to pay for the new roof or the insurance and it could go on for a long time. Her solicitor won't let them sign till it is sorted but by the sound of it the seller is getting fed up and would pull out which would be a disaster for them. So, watch this space!!
Once off the phone Jon and I went to Bayfair as he wanted to get his car valeted ready to go back to Genera tomorrow. We went and had a coffee and then a wander round the shops and did our supermarket shop by which time the car was ready and looked very nice - never let it be said we gave it back in a state!!! (This had been suggested that we would do!!)
We went home and had lunch and took Totty for a walk.
In the afternoon we went and bought a new rug, the same as the one we have in the lounge, to go in the dinning room and it looks very nice.
Jon's new office is near the DIY store and he showed me the car he is to have and it is a ute and he really hates utes. He has been told it is only for now and they will get him a 'proper' car!! I said I would buy him a little plastic stool which he can put on a rope so that he can get in and out!! Not impressed!!
We got home and I prepared dinner - lamb shanks. I found a potato ricer in the sale and so we had some very nice mashed potato for dinner.
SUNDAY Kiwi Father's Day and first day of spring!
What a lovely morning we woke to, sunny and warm.
We had decided to go out for breakfast this morning and we went to one of our favourite places out near Bethlehem.
We both had eggs Benedict and they were they best I have had. Served on a muffin with lovely bacon, tomato and avocado and a dollop of mint pesto so good!! The sunshine also helped.
We then went home and I finally managed to catch up with my ironing but will be back to square one when I bring my two loads of washing in!!
Jon went into the garden and did some pottering and general tidying up. I had to tell him not to do too much as he can get carried away and will then pay for it as he is still not up to his full strength.
We had to take the car over to Mike's house today and leave it there and one of the Greenwood family will collect it (they live just down the road). It was a good plan as Jon really didn't want to see any of them to speak to. I am glad it is gone, though I will miss it as it was a lovely car, but now we have nothing more to do with them. We would love to be a fly on the wall when they learn we are not leaving!!!
We got home and had a cuppa and I then prepared dinner. I also made a casserole for tomorrow. I need to get some meals in the freezer for Jon to have when I go to UK. He is capable of cooking for himself but it would be good if I can get some ready for him if he is tired.
We ate dinner and then watched some TV and I thought I really ought to get my blog done.
WEATHER
