Ultrasound and X-ray

I had to be at the x-ray place for 8.55 so once again it was a quick walk with Tot. She must be looking forward to the day when I can go on long walks with her again.

I had my ultrasound first and you can clearly see the tear in my muscle and it looks quite big. The sonographer, Sally, went to speak to the doctor and then came back and said I would go for my x-ray in a minute and to wait to be called which I was in a few minutes. I had just got up on the bed and Sally came in to say the doctor couldn't see any point in having the x-ray as he could see enough from the scan. She told me it was a very bad muscle rupture and she said to wait and they would give me a disc to take to the physio, Claire. They are both in the same building which is handy.

I then went for my physio appointment and Claire said she would go and have a word with the doctor. When she came back she said my case was very unusual as usually with this injury you can't walk and have to have surgery to repair it. Fortunately, for me, the tear is a bit higher than the knee and so the other three muscles are taking over the work which is how I am able to walk. Unfortunately, the muscle had rolled up into a ball which has caused the egg shaped bulge in my leg.

She is going to refer me to the orthopaedic surgeon but thinks he will just tell her to work on strengthening my other muscles. She said if I was 15 they would repair it but not at my age!!! Which I am glad about as I would prefer not to have surgery. She did think they might want to see me at the hospital if I was willing as a case study as it is not very common for this to happen so might be useful for student doctors. Watch this space.

She did more work on my back but it seems to be getting worse.

I then went to buy some vegetables and then home and started a spring clean for when Jane and Jason arrive.

After lunch I went out to do the bunching of the daffodils for Cancer Society. As I arrived the man from the press was there and Denise, the manager asked if I would have a photo taken with all the daffodils as none of the other ladies would so I did with one other lady and it will be in the paper on Friday.

On my way home I stopped off and delivered book sale flyers to all the houses at the top end of our road and all the little streets off it so I have at least made a start.

I had a cuppa when I got back as it was so hot and watched Dancing on Ice, well half of it. It is the final and I want to sit and enjoy it but I had to get my sheets in and ironed and walk the dog so I will enjoy the rest tomorrow.

I cooked a lovely stir fry for dinner.

WEATHER
