A nice trip to the cinema

I made sure I set my alarm last night as Jon was away and Heather was off to boot camp again and so left at 5.30 and I didn't want to miss my aqua aerobics.

It was very warm this morning which is nice as although the pool is well heated it is cold getting to and from the car. I think I might have worked my leg a bit too hard today as it hurt in the pool and I also ache after my class yesterday, you certainly know when you haven't been for a few weeks. A lady I met from Christchurch back in January was there again today. She comes to stay with her daughter and comes to the class. She was telling me how bad it is in Christchurch and they have had more than 7,000 aftershocks and she said some are really strong. It must be awful for them all.

As we were going to the cinema later I bought a coffee to take home with me as I needed to get home and wash my hair and I was picking Viv up at 12.15.

I did my hair and was ready in half an hour!! I then had time to make a sandwich for me and leave one for Heather who came home later.

I collected Viv and then went round for Margaret and we went into town. We met Les and Carol at the cinema. Viv and Margaret bought their tickets and as they are over 65 got in cheap. I was next and she asked me if I was a 'Senior Citizen' and I told her I was in the UK but not here! She told me they gave you concession tickets at 60 in this cinema so Les and I got in cheaply, too.

The film, Oranges and Sunshine, was showing in a small theatre so we were glad we were in early or we would have ended up very near to the screen. It was a really good film about a social worker who finds out about the 130,000 children who were deported to Australia (and Canada) up until the 1960s. They were taken away from their families and told they had died. Some of the boys went to live at a catholic home and were made to work like slaves and very badly sexually abused and it was really sad. The social worker helps them to locate their families. We all really enjoyed it and cried!

We went for a cup of tea after the film and then came home.

I still haven't heard from the people who are 'supposed to be delivering the new washing machine tomorrow and my washing is really piling up now. I think I might have to take some along to Viv.

Jon said he would go to the gym when he got back from Auckland but he was home here at 5.00 and said he had a bad headache and didn't feel well.

We had a stir fry for dinner. Heather said boot camp had gone well again but she expects to be sore again tomorrow!

WEATHER
Warm and sunny 17 degrees
