I woke at 6.15 but it was too early to get up even though I was wide awake. Suddenly it was 7.35 and I had overslept, I hate it when I do that and I had so much to do today.
As I had to wash my hair and meet Carol and Les at the Mount I didn't have time to take Tot out, poor Tot.
I made it down to the Mount for just 9.00, Carol was there but we had to wait for Les for a few minutes. We walked around and it was a lovely morning. We then went for a coffee and a chat before I said I had to make a move as I had a lot to do.
I popped in to the library to return some books and then went to the supermarket to buy a few things. On my way back I took the recycling.
When I got back I took Tot out for a walk but she was puffing and panting, not sure what she is going to be like when it gets hotter.
I then came back and made egg sandwiches for lunch and then when Jon and Heather went back I made a chocolate cake and a chicken casserole for tomorrow.
I did some washing and sorted out the wardrobe so Jane and Jason can have some space.
I took Tot out again and delivered some flyers for the book sale on my way. It is a bit difficult with Tot as when I go to walk to the post box she thinks I am going up the drive and so I am forever pulling her back. Never mind I did manage to deliver a lot.
Back home and I got stuck into the ironing as I want everything up to date when Jane gets here.
J & H came home and I cooked a piece of veal and roast veg but I was not impressed with the flavour of the veal - beef or lamb not sure what it tasted like.
After dinner I finished the ironing and checked where Jane's flight was and they have just taken off from Hong Kong so I am off to bed as I need to get up at 5.30 as my flight is 6.50. She is going to be so surprised to see me at Auckland airport.

New Shoes!
I took Tot out round the block as it is bin day.
I went off to my class and the ladies who are usually at the front were not there today and I ended up at the front and I hate being there. It was really warm in the hall today and we worked up quite a sweat. I am usually by the door and I missed that.
I stayed for a coffee and a chat and then got changed as I had to go into the library. When I got to the car park I realised I had forgotten to bring the books with me so just had to collect the one I had on order.
I went into a shoe shop which sells European shoes as they had a sale on, it is where I bought my boots recently. I found a lovely pair of black court shoes reduced to half price and they are so comfy and I love them.
I then went to the supermarket as I won't have time to go on Thursday and I needed some things to make a casserole tomorrow ready for Thursday when Jane and Jason arrive. So excited!!
Got back and did a bit of housework and odd jobs like washing the cooker hood which is stainless steel and a horrible thing to wash so that you don't get streaks on it!!!
Heather came home for lunch and once she had gone back I sent a pile of emails to get myself up to date.
Jon got stuck at the office so didn't go to the gym.
I cooked a pork stir fry for dinner which was very good.
WEATHER
Heavy rain overnight and a bit of drizzle first thing but humid 18 degrees

A lovely spring cleaned house
I managed to get the bed stripped and sheets into the machine first thing before going off to my physio appointment. Jon has gone down to Nelson till tomorrow so no need to cook dinner tonight.
The physio strapped my leg and gave me lots of exercises to do I just need to make time to do them!
I came straight home and took Tot out for a walk. I decided to walk her when I got back so she could have a longer walk as I always seem to be in a hurry these mornings and she only gets a short walk. She enjoyed going all around the park today and at the time we were out it was quite sunny.
When I got back I got stuck in to my spring cleaning and did the house from top to bottom but I am now paying for it with a very sore back and sciatica in my leg.
Heather came home for lunch but went back early as she had to go and have her car rechecked to show them she had bought the new tyres so her car her now legal again.
I worked all through the afternoon and stopped for a cup of tea and then took the dog out again.
I just had time to iron the sheets and make the bed again when Heather came in and as we were going out to the cinema we had to get ready.
We went to see Horrible bosses and it was very funny. It was an early show so we were home for 8.30.
We had some soup and then watched a bit of TV.
I am just sorting out menus for when Jane arrives and trying to be more organised than I was when Kirsty and James were here and I ended up going to the supermarket nearly everyday!!!

The first BBQ of the season.
We all had another lie in today and then Jon watched the Grand Prix qualifying rounds. I took Tot out and met Bronwyn and had a chat. She is busy with the rehearsing for the show we are going to see in aid of breast cancer in September. She spends about eight hours on a Sunday and although she loves doing it she is getting tired.
Both mine and Heather's cars needed our WOF (MOT) so she drove over to the testing station with Jon in her car and I followed after walking the dog in mine. Hers was just about to go on the pit lane when I got there. Unfortunately, hers didn't pass as it needed two new tyres.
Jon and Heather then went over to the Mount to 'run' up it. My car eventually went onto the ramp and passed but then it is only three years so it should have.
I drove down to the Mount and sat and had a coffee and waited for them. Jon was very pleased with himself as he managed to run up and beat Heather to the top though he did take a long time to recover at the top.
We then went home for lunch and phoned a tyre place who said they could fit two new tyres for Heather so we went across and left the car there. We then went to buy some hand towels as I seem to be a bit short of them.
We went back and picked Heather's car up and went to the supermarket as Heather and Jon decided a BBQ was a good idea as it was so warm so we had to go and buy some meat. I had a really bad tummy ache and needed to go home to the loo so left them to do the shopping!!! Jon bought a huge Pavlova base as it was reduced AND strawberries!! I had seen them in the shop the other day and thought they were too expensive!! They were very nice though and from Australia.
The BBQ was very good and the Pavlova and strawberries just finished it off nicely.
Not sure why but I feel really tired tonight. I think I am going to have to have early nights this week as once Jane gets here I will be busy and get really tired.
The neighbours had some people looking at their house again today and they had a child with them who had the most annoying, really loud cry so I hope they don't buy it.
WEATHER
Sunny first thing then a little cloud 18 degrees

A nice weekend day
We took Tot on a walk to Rotary Park and met some little children who asked if they could 'pat' our puppy. They were so sweet and thought she was lovely.
We went out for coffee to Greerton today to the place we used to go to after our golf lesson as we hadn't been there for a long time and the muffins were as good as ever.
I needed some spices for my Thai curry so went to buy goodies at Gourmet Trader and we had a few samples on our way around, they have some lovely things there.
We had lunch and watched a bit of TV with Heather Jon and then Jon went for a haircut and I went shopping with Heather.
I took some scones out of the freezer to have with a cup of tea and they were very good.
We all took Tot out for a walk to the park.
I made a Thai green chicken curry from scratch which was very good but hot - too hot for Heather. Next time I will only put three chillis in it!!

Red Cross day again
It was so nice to shower in out nice clean spot free shower and what is even better it looked just as good after my shower so I hope it stays like that.
I was ready in plenty of time this morning and so Tot got a nice long walk before I went off to the shop.
Really busy there today, don't know why but lots of young people looking for things. I think they might be looking for things for a party at school.
I went to the Asian supermarket near the shop as I needed a few spices for the Thai meal I am making tomorrow. I will go back again as they have some very interesting things in there but I had to get home for lunch with Heather.
Heather had just got in before me so I quickly made a sandwich and we watched Neighbours as Jon is still away.
After lunch I was sat having a cup of tea and I nodded off and had a nice little nap and I haven't done that for a long time.
I finished off my ironing in time for Jon to bring home a load of dirty washing as he will have used two shirts a day!!!
Jon came in at 7.00 and although Heather said she was coming home she texed to say she didn't want fish and chips and would get something when she did come home.
We had our fish and chips and when Heather came home she ordered pizza and had it delivered, lazy girl.

Clean carpets and clean shower
As the man was coming to clean the shower today at 8.00 I was up very early and had Tot out by 7.40. However, just as I was coming back I met the nanny from next door taking the kids to the bus stop and she told me a man was waiting outside our house so I had to run, well, as best I can with my leg.
The man, Roly, is from Manchester and has been here for five years with his wife and seven year old daughter and he said there is no way his wife would go back but he says he will never say never. He was a really chatty man but he got stuck in to cleaning the glass in the shower and then the carpet cleaner arrived.
I had managed to move all the furniture and so it was all ready for him. He did the hall, stairs, landing , living room and our bedroom, these are all the most walked on areas. I would have asked him to do Heather's room but you can't see much of the floor!! lol
So Tot and I had to spend the morning in the kitchen and I had to do my ironing as there was nothing else to do!
They had both finished by 10.30 but I felt like it was much later. I cleared out the freezer, I really don't know why I freeze leftover portions of meals as I never use them due to the fact that I don't label them and then forget what they are.
I lit the fire so that the carpets would dry out and wouldn't you know it the sun came out and I was baking hot.
Heather came home for lunch and when she left to go back I went out to do my shopping. I had to rush as I needed to get to the vet for 3.00 to have Tot checked.
I got back and then went straight back out after putting all the cold stuff away. I was only in the vets for five minutes as he said it had cleared up much better than he was expecting and hopefully she should be fine now.
I took Tot to Rotary Park on the way back and as there was nobody else there she had a good walk and sniff around before we drove back home.
I brought my washing in and folded it and then felt very tired and realised I had not stopped since 6.45 am and it was now nearly 4.00 so I put the kettle on and sat down and watched TV for a little while.
As Heather had netball tonight and would not be home till 8.30 I just made some cheese on toast for dinner - how lazy!
I think I might need an early night tonight!

A good day at the cinema to see Bridesmaids
For a change on a Wednesday I had no rush this morning as no swimming today.
I took Tot out for a walk and we managed to get to the park today. She looks much better today and has stopped all the awful scratching. I hadn't realised just how much she had been scratching.
Jon went off to Auckland till Friday to go to a conference. I went to the same one with him two years ago but decided not to go this year.
I left a sandwich ready for Heather and some chopped vegetables for her lunch.
I went to pick up Viv and Margaret at 10.15 and we got over to the cinema before it was open and had to wait outside for a few minutes. But at least we were first in and able to get on the back row as it is such a small cinema and I can't see when I am at the front.
I was just going across the road to get myself a coffee when I met Carol coming over so I got her a coffee, too. While I was waiting in the bar I saw Les arrive so I surprised her with a coffee.
The film was soooooo funny and we all laughed till we cried. I can't remember laughing so much at a film but I can see why Heather didn't want me to go with her!!
We went to the Swiss Chalet and had lunch. I had eggs Benedict and they were lovely. The chicken and vegetable broth the others had looked really good, too and Les had nachos.
I got home about 3.30 and fed Tot and when Heather came home from work we took her out for a walk.
I just had cheese and crackers for dinner and I made some pasta and tomato sauce for Heather. Jon called to say he had arrived and Heather and I caught up with some TV.
I have the man coming to clean the carpets tomorrow so I have had to move some of the furniture around most of it will have to go in the kitchen area which is where Tot and I will have to be, too. I think I might just get my ironing done tomorrow as I won't be able to do anything else.
I also have the man coming in to clean and treat the shower so that hopefully it will be easier to keep clean.

A trip to the vet with Totty
Totty has been holding down her right ear and so I thought she had an ear infection and booked an appointment for the vet this afternoon.
I took her for a walk and then I went off to my class followed by coffee and a trip to the supermarket.
I got home and showered and as Heather and Jon were going to the rugby tonight I was just about to prepare cooked lunch for them when Heather called to say it didn't start till 8.00 so they would have dinner before they went and so just a normal sandwich lunch.
After lunch I prepared my jokes for my tail twister bit at Lions tonight and then took Totty to the vet. When he looked down her ear he said she had something in there. He tried to flush it out with saline but it wouldn't move so he said he really ought to operate to get it out today so he kept her in.
I came home and rang Janice to say I would have to make my own way to Lions and would be late and to ask them to keep my dinner hot.
The vet called at 5.45 and said she was just waking up and that he had found a seed and it looked like it had been there for a long time. I went to collect her and he showed me and it was large with all the gunk around it. He said her ear is very inflammed and he still can't see down so wants to see her again in two days.
She was so sleepy when I was driving home but would not sit or lie down but kept nodding off and then falling off the seat.
Jon was home when I got back and we decided she was not well enough to leave so he said he would not go to the rugby and I went to my Lions meeting.
We had a good meal and a very good speaker who talked about Tauranga in 1948 and it was very interesting. I then did my bit and everyone seemed to enjoy it and laughed a lot - only another ten meetings to do now!!
Got home and Tot was very restless and won't settle. Hopefully, she will once she gets into her bed.
The uni cycle Heather and Jon ordered came today and Jon has put it together, Heather had a try but was not very good at it. She needs more practice.

Ultrasound and X-ray
I had to be at the x-ray place for 8.55 so once again it was a quick walk with Tot. She must be looking forward to the day when I can go on long walks with her again.
I had my ultrasound first and you can clearly see the tear in my muscle and it looks quite big. The sonographer, Sally, went to speak to the doctor and then came back and said I would go for my x-ray in a minute and to wait to be called which I was in a few minutes. I had just got up on the bed and Sally came in to say the doctor couldn't see any point in having the x-ray as he could see enough from the scan. She told me it was a very bad muscle rupture and she said to wait and they would give me a disc to take to the physio, Claire. They are both in the same building which is handy.
I then went for my physio appointment and Claire said she would go and have a word with the doctor. When she came back she said my case was very unusual as usually with this injury you can't walk and have to have surgery to repair it. Fortunately, for me, the tear is a bit higher than the knee and so the other three muscles are taking over the work which is how I am able to walk. Unfortunately, the muscle had rolled up into a ball which has caused the egg shaped bulge in my leg.
She is going to refer me to the orthopaedic surgeon but thinks he will just tell her to work on strengthening my other muscles. She said if I was 15 they would repair it but not at my age!!! Which I am glad about as I would prefer not to have surgery. She did think they might want to see me at the hospital if I was willing as a case study as it is not very common for this to happen so might be useful for student doctors. Watch this space.
She did more work on my back but it seems to be getting worse.
I then went to buy some vegetables and then home and started a spring clean for when Jane and Jason arrive.
After lunch I went out to do the bunching of the daffodils for Cancer Society. As I arrived the man from the press was there and Denise, the manager asked if I would have a photo taken with all the daffodils as none of the other ladies would so I did with one other lady and it will be in the paper on Friday.
On my way home I stopped off and delivered book sale flyers to all the houses at the top end of our road and all the little streets off it so I have at least made a start.
I had a cuppa when I got back as it was so hot and watched Dancing on Ice, well half of it. It is the final and I want to sit and enjoy it but I had to get my sheets in and ironed and walk the dog so I will enjoy the rest tomorrow.
I cooked a lovely stir fry for dinner.

A visit to Looking Glass Gardens
Another lovely day and we managed to get up and have breakfast at a sensible time and get Totty out to Rotary Park for a change as we have been too late for the last few weeks.
Jon and I went out to Bayfair for a coffee and I overheard a man telling his son off for being such a troublesome boy. The little lad was only about eight and it seems like mum and dad had invited him out for a drink and a piece of chocolate cake and then went on to tell him what a right pain he is being and how much trouble he is causing them. Through it all the boy just sat there and was so well behaved and didn't have an tantrum and I would really like to know what it was he had done that was so bad and how he gets on!!!
We then went to hit some balls, the first time since April!!! Fortunately, we haven't forgotten, well, not everything!
We got home for an early lunch and Heather was back from the gym and we then went out to Looking Glass Gardens. It was lovely there and the daffodils were just beautiful. There were some lovely magnolia trees out in bloom, too. We enjoyed it but Heather was not impressed, I wonder why I am not surprised!!!
We went home and had a cup of tea and I put the chicken in for dinner and then took Tot out for her walk and you can notice how the days are much longer.
Had dinner and then watched TV. Jon and Heather both went to bed early.

A beautiful day
We all had a nice lie in this morning which made us late for getting on with what we had to!
However, we got Tot out for her walk and then went out for coffee to the O Zone and enjoyed a very good apricot muffin.
It was then on to the bakers for bread and Farmer Jones for some lamb shanks for dinner.
We then headed out to the library to return some books and then on to the supermarket.
We got back in time for lunch and heated the pizza I had bought for Heather.
We did intend to go out to Looking Glass Gardens but Jon and Heather had a bit of a fall out. Such a silly thing but she really was quite rude to him and he got upset about it and so went down to wash the car. I did speak to her about it but she was unrepentant and would not apologise. I would like to be around to see what she is like when she is older and how much patience her children have with her. Whatever happened to patience????
Well the long and the short of it was she decided she didn't want to come out and so Jon and I went out on our own to McLaren Falls and fed the ducks and walked around the lake. I love having Heather here with us but she has made life quite difficult for us. Whereas we would just go out and drive and see what we could find Heather needs to have 'somewhere' to go. Unfortunately, here in NZ life is pretty boring for young people and there aren't the theme parks and things to see and the main thing is walking and 'seeing'. Our lives have changed a lot since she arrived and we feel we just can't head off and do our own thing, play golf, walk etc. And that is fine but when she is so rude to Jon it makes me cross.
When we got back she was out and I got on with cooking the dinner. She came back and after some retail therapy was fine.
Dinner was good but the lamb shanks a bit tough. Jane phoned to speak to Heather just before dinner so that cheered Heather up.
Hopefully, we will get to Looking Glass Gardens tomorrow as I am told they have a lovely display of daffodils.

Feeling really tired today!
Heather must be so quiet when she leaves at 5.30 as I never wake!!
I took Tot out for her walk after my breakfast and then went straight off to the Red Cross and, for once, I arrived on time!
Quite a busy morning and we put out lots of children's clothes and ladies jeans and the morning passed quickly. Les and I had our usual coffee and Sharon had her usual green tea.
I found lots of tops which I think will be good for China and tried them on and liked six, all new by a good Australian shop and they cost me all of £15. I also found a nice little coat which I will send to Jon's niece for her little girl who has just turned one and a little hat, no doubt cost me a fortune in postage!
I also found some nice glasses as we always seem to be running out as they are in the dishwasher!
I came home and got lunch for Heather and I as Jon had been invited down to the port for a bbq lunch with the operators.
After lunch I sent and email to Jane with all the options of places to visit when she is here.
After Tot's afternoon walk I baked a lemon cake which burnt a little on the top as my little oven is too hot!!
Heather came home and was really tired as she had 'run' up the Mount this morning in her boot camp session. The teacher says they should be able to do it twice by the end of the four weeks - rather her than me!!!
Jon came home late from the gym and after a quick shower he went out for our fish and chips.

Physio, haircut, shopping, book room!!!!
Walk with Tot all a bit of a rush again, poor dog never seems to get a good long walk.
I went to my physio appointment and thankfully she was running on time and I made it to the
hairdresser on time for my appointment.
After my haircut I rushed off to the supermarket but just had to stop for a coffee on the way.
I was home for lunch and then straight out to book sale rooms to sort the books we collected on Sunday. We are way ahead of where we usually are which is good.
I got home and took Tot out for a longer walk.
The kids from next door knocked to say that they had hit two balls onto the deck while playing cricket and wanted them back.
We had dinner and booked our flight for Labour Day weekend away. When Heather came in she was upset as we had booked them to go on the Friday which means she will need a day off and thinks it will cause problems in the office so she was not a happy girl. Our fault we should have thought about it but we were so busy trying to log on and get the 'grab a seat' cheap flights.

A good swimming class
It was cold again this morning when we got up. I took Tot out and then went out to my aqua aerobics class.
The pool was really warm but we had the same teacher and she has been doing the same class with the same music for weeks now and I find my mind wandering and was getting quite bored and thinking about getting out when she dived in the pool and another teacher took over. I don't know who she is as we have never had her for a class before but she was really good and as she used a radio microphone we could all hear what she was saying and she gave clear instructions as to what we should be doing and why. I really enjoyed it and after the class I told her how good it was. She said she is only ever called in when someone is off sick which is a shame as she is so good. I think I might have to tell the pool manager.
After class I went for coffee with Carol and we sat chatting for ages and suddenly I needed to get home and do lunch.
I arrived home and hung out the washing, made the bed and put fish fingers in the oven for lunch all in double quick time.
This afternoon I had a pamper day and did my nails, legs and toes before sitting down and answering some long overdue emails.
It was just before six when I took Tot out and was still light, so nice to see the days getting longer.
I cooked chicken Korma for dinner followed by apple pie. I am trying to use stuff up from the freezer as it is so full of bits and bobs.
We had recorded Roots ages ago as we had not been able to play the last disc of the DVD we brought over from UK so had not seen the end. We finally got round to watching some of it tonight as Heather wanted to watch an American programme so went down to her room, We just have two to go now. It is every bit as good as I remember when I watched it when I lived in Spain but now I am watching in colour.

Another cold day
I took Tot out for a walk before the binmen started the rounds so she was OK.
I went out to my keep fit class and for most part I was able to do everything but knee bends send my leg into spasm and I had to stop. I stayed for a cup of coffee and a chat before going to the supermarket to buy some bananas and bread.
Got back home and had a shower but didn't fully dress as I needed to clean the showers and it is easier without trousers. I hate cleaning the showers and now I have two to do!!!
Heather came home on her own, Jon was stuck in a meeting so I gave her a sandwich to take back for him.
I finished sorting and labeling my photo album before taking Tot for a walk. When I got back I lit the fire and watched Dancing on Ice and did my ironing.
Both Heather and Jon went to the gym so were back late. I took a chilli from the freezer for dinner so nice and easy.
Jon brought our Chinese itinerary home and it is looking pretty good and I am getting excited!
A bit of TV and then bed and hope the cold weather will have gone by tomorrow.

SNOW!!!!
It was so cold this morning and the wind was bitter.
I went out to my physio appointment and they have sent me for an x-ray and ultrasound on my leg to see what the 'egg shape' in my thigh is!!! She gave me a good back massage but it is still in spasm so not much improvement there. My x-ray is for next Monday.
Got home and took Tot out and thankfully missed the rain which actually turned to snow. It didn't stick but it really was snow!
I did a bit of housework and then got ready and went to pick Viv and Margaret up at 11.30 for our keep fit lunch.
It was held in a hotel across the other side of town and it was only $10 so I wasn't expecting much. Which was just as well as it was pretty awful, a bit like a school dinner but much worse. It was a roast but very overcooked ugh!! Pudding was apple crumble but both the apple and crumble were very thin layers. However, the speaker was good, the Kiwi Beefeater who we had at a Lions meeting once and he is very entertaining and the company was good. We stopped off for a coffee on the way home and had a chat. We had another snow shower when we came out of the cafe.
I really got stuck into my housework when I got back and was glad I had done all of my washing yesterday so just needed to clean.
I took Tot out again but the wind was very cold. They say this weather will last for another two days. We have even had to turn the radiator on in our bedroom as the fire doesn't seem to be doing much tonight.

Two phone calls from the UK in one day!!
Jon was feeling much better this morning but still had some tummy pain. We took Tot our for a walk quickly as Jane said she would phone but she didn't phone as she fell asleep so that was a bit of a wasted morning!
We finally went out for coffee and then over to Baycourt to collect some books after a school bookfair and they allow charities to have the leftover books. We were more fussy this year as usually we just grab what there is but realistically if there is anything leftover then it is because it is not very good.
We then went into the library as Heather wanted some books.
Got home and I made paninis for lunch.
There was a special offer on for photo prints at one of the shops so we went across to put our order in, Heather is making a scrapbook and I need to update my albums and I like to look at photos and not just on the computer. There had been such a good response they told us we would not have our photos till Wednesday!
I made a casserole and an apple crumble for dinner.
We took Tot out for her walk and then I came back and ironed the sheets and then made the bed which seemed strange as I usually do it on Mondays.
Jane phoned after dinner and had a long chat with Heather and Jon and as her hour was up she then re dialled and spoke to me for an hour and then called back again for another ten minutes.
I am now very tired and I need to go to bed.
WEATHER
A chill wind but warm in the sun 15 degrees, a few showers later.

Tough Guy and Gal Challenge
We were all up early so that we could get Heather over to Rotorua for the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge that Mike, who works at Genera, had asked her to go to. She was filling in for one of his friends who couldn't make it and she was therefore called Phil!
We arrived in a foggy Rotorua and found the site which was our near one of the thermal parks so a little smelly. We parked the car and as there was no phone signal we made our way to registration and hoped we would be able to find Mike in the 2000+ crowd and we did!!
The challenge was to run/jog/walk around the 6km cross country track. Some of the runners, Mike was one, were doing 12km so twice round. It was very hilly with lots of mud and water to wade through plus tyres to negotiate, barbed wire, wooden fences to climb and wire bridges to cross not to mention the hills and the bush walk so all in all pretty tough.
Heather has had a particularly busy week with starting boot camp, step class, pump class not to mention netball, she is going to be so fit and I am so proud of her as she has done it all with a smile.
We watched the start and then headed into the barn for a coffee which we then took to the lake to wait for them to come round. They had to walk through muddy water up to their waste and so it was just as well they had all wrapped tape around their shoes or they would have lost them. I took what I thought would be some really good photos but when I looked I had knocked the button on the camera and they were over exposed. I quickly had to run, as fast as my bad leg would let me, round to the other side to get some of her in the water and mud there.
All in all we were very impressed with her time and it took her about an hour and a quarter. We will know the official time when it is posted on the web tomorrow.
After the race they all had to go and have showers or be hosed down. The showers were cold and the water came from big tankers. Everyone was so caked in mud it was unbelievable and very difficult to get off. The trainers were only fit for the bin, I am not sure about the clothes yet. Heather went into the changing rooms and we were told there were warm showers there but she didn't find them so just had to change her clothes and get as much off with her towel but she looked pretty clean when she came out.
We stood chatting to Mike, Bob, Michelle and her brother outside in the lovely sun. They were telling us about a woman last year who split her pants while running and you could see her bottom but didn't know whether to tell her or not. Michelle's brother said, in a loud voice 'Well what do you say, your showing your backside love'. There was a girl near us who was just getting changed and turned around and thinking he said it to her said 'Sorry' and beat a hasty retreat. It was so funny and she moved so fast we couldn't tell her he was not talking to her!!! Very bad timing but really funny.
After the prize giving we went into Rotorua to the Fat Dog for lunch. Jon had a beef sandwhich which was huge and he ate it all. Heather had an all day breakfast but didn't finish it. I had a BLAT - bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato - with wedges which I didn't want and didn't eat. It was all really good. We then had death by chocolate pudding and were so full.
We stopped off at the supermarket on the way back and got home at 5.15 and had a cup of tea. Heather had a shower and washed her hair but still feels muddy. So far I have rinsed her jogging pants and top out but still the mud keeps coming out, hopefully I will get them clean eventually.
Jon has not been very well since we got back. He has had severe tummy pains and was in a lot of distress. He couldn't lie down or sit down and just stood up or walked around the bedroom for ages. I gave him peppermint tea and a hot water bottle and eventually it started to ease. I think it was having such a big lunch so late. We had nothing all morning and then had lunch at 3.00. Hopefully he will be OK tomorrow.
Heather and I had a Neighbours marathon as we have a lot to catch up.

Yeah! A new washing machine
We had lots of overnight rain and when we got up it was a very strange sunny/foggy morning but it soon cleared.
I took Tot out for an early walk as I needed to be out to take car for service for 8.30 and then walk to the shop where we had a busy morning but no call to confirm the time the washing machine would arrive!!
I walked back into town to pick up the car which didn't need anything major doing to it.
I had lunch with Heather as Jon was in Taupo for a meeting with Mark.
I called the delivery people and they said the machine will be here at 3.30. It finally came at 4.00.
I managed to get 5 loads done and dried by bedtime but I did have to use the dryer but I thought I would never get on top of it all if I didn't.
Heather home and we went across to fix Bronwyns iTunes and she did it in a few minutes.
We then went to walk Tot.
Jon went to the gym and once home he showered and went out for our fish and chips
We didn't need a fire tonight

Rain!!!!
Heavy rain overnight and this morning so no walk for Tot.
I went to physio and did some exercise but I have this egg shape in my leg and it feels like it is going to go into a cramp. She told me not to underestimate the injury as it was a serious injury and to take it easy.
I popped in for a coffee and then in to do my shopping and when I came out it had finally stopped raining.
Got home and still no word on the washing machine so I emailed Seleena for phone number to contact them. They now say it will be coming tomorrow pm!!!
I made a chilli for dinner.
Heather out at netball till late.
We have rain again.

A nice trip to the cinema
I made sure I set my alarm last night as Jon was away and Heather was off to boot camp again and so left at 5.30 and I didn't want to miss my aqua aerobics.
It was very warm this morning which is nice as although the pool is well heated it is cold getting to and from the car. I think I might have worked my leg a bit too hard today as it hurt in the pool and I also ache after my class yesterday, you certainly know when you haven't been for a few weeks. A lady I met from Christchurch back in January was there again today. She comes to stay with her daughter and comes to the class. She was telling me how bad it is in Christchurch and they have had more than 7,000 aftershocks and she said some are really strong. It must be awful for them all.
As we were going to the cinema later I bought a coffee to take home with me as I needed to get home and wash my hair and I was picking Viv up at 12.15.
I did my hair and was ready in half an hour!! I then had time to make a sandwich for me and leave one for Heather who came home later.
I collected Viv and then went round for Margaret and we went into town. We met Les and Carol at the cinema. Viv and Margaret bought their tickets and as they are over 65 got in cheap. I was next and she asked me if I was a 'Senior Citizen' and I told her I was in the UK but not here! She told me they gave you concession tickets at 60 in this cinema so Les and I got in cheaply, too.
The film, Oranges and Sunshine, was showing in a small theatre so we were glad we were in early or we would have ended up very near to the screen. It was a really good film about a social worker who finds out about the 130,000 children who were deported to Australia (and Canada) up until the 1960s. They were taken away from their families and told they had died. Some of the boys went to live at a catholic home and were made to work like slaves and very badly sexually abused and it was really sad. The social worker helps them to locate their families. We all really enjoyed it and cried!
We went for a cup of tea after the film and then came home.
I still haven't heard from the people who are 'supposed to be delivering the new washing machine tomorrow and my washing is really piling up now. I think I might have to take some along to Viv.
Jon said he would go to the gym when he got back from Auckland but he was home here at 5.00 and said he had a bad headache and didn't feel well.
We had a stir fry for dinner. Heather said boot camp had gone well again but she expects to be sore again tomorrow!

Back to keep fit!!
I took Tot for her walk and then went to keep fit. I had to take things easy but it was good to be back.
I got home and had a shower and made burgers for lunch which were very good.
I checked where we are going in China again you can find so much out on the Internet.
I went out for a cuppa with Alison and had a chat and catch up.
I took Tot for her walk and had an early dinner and went to my Lions meeting.
When I got home and Jon and Heather had gone to bed I called Joyce as I haven't spoken to her for ages and she told me all about their holiday.

No washing today
Heather was up and out at 5.30 to go to the first of her boot camp sessions, rather her than me.
I took Tot out after breakfast and then went to my physio appointment. I did some work in the gym with her and have more exercises to do at home. I think I might try keep fit again tomorrow.
Got home and did some housework and then made lunch for Jon and Heather. We are all being good this week and trying to lose a few pounds.
After lunch I went over to see if I could help Bronwyn download some music to her computer from a memory stick. I half did it but Heather will have to go and do the rest as I don't understand iTunes.
I then went across to Bayfair to collect my jeans and a jumper of Jon's which is being invisibly repaired and my jeans shortened. The lady has done a very good job on them. I then bought some fruit and veg and took some recycling on the way home.
I took Tot with me in the car but she was such a pain climbing all over the car, she really does not like the car so I won't do it again.
Got back and watched Dancing on Ice and did my ironing.
I took Tot out again and then it was time to prepare dinner not that I had much to do as Jon and I had leftover beef with salad and Heather had a chicken breast with vegetables. I think it was the worst dinner ever and is more suited to a summer dinner but not on a cold winter's night. If I haven't lost a few pounds tomorrow I will be very upset!!!
WEATHER
A few clouds but mainly sunny after a cold start 15 degrees

Natioanl Raost Dinner Day
After a lot of rain overnight this morning was a pleasant surprise as it was quite sunny but it didn't last for long!!
We had breakfast and then eventually we managed to get Tot out for her walk.
Jon and I then went out to Bayfair and had a coffee and shared a yummy chocolate muffin and a pot of cream!
I then went and found some new reading glasses - I really need to keep them in a case so they don't get scratched. I bought a muffin to take home for Heather and then we met Mark (owner of Genera) and his wife and had a chat.
We were looking for a piece of furniture to put the drinks in as I am fed up trying to find my baking things and I don't have enough kitchen space. We didn't find anything.
Back home and I had a clear out of the cupboards and took out a lot of the gadgets that the landlady had left but we don't use and I managed to find enough space to put all the drinks etc. I would still like and extra fridge/freezer.
We had an email from Seleena, landlady, to say she was going out to find a new washing machine and would we mind a top loader. I am so happy she is considering one and Jon emailed her to say we would be happy to have one. She told us she had been very ill and at the time of the first repair of the machine had been unable to get out of bed. Shame she did not tell us as we would have sorted it out and bought a new machine and she could have paid us later. Not sure what is wrong with her but she does not sound well. Anyway, she says the new machine will e delivered on Thursday - yeah!!!
We went out to the Warehouse this afternoon and bought a new doorbell and looked for a wine rack. Heather bought a photo frame and some bits for her scrapbook.
Checking out places to go for Labour Day weekend in October. Heather wants to go across to Oz but we think it is too expensive for such a short time and we will just have got back from China and I really don't want to spend all that time travelling for just two days there so we will have to see. I think the Bay of Islands will be a much better choice.
Back home I prepared out roast beef (chicken breast for Heather) for National Roast Dinner Day and it was very good and enjoyed by Jon and I.

Washing machine mal function - again!!!
We took Tot out for her walk but my leg is still not able to cope with the hill down to the park so we just went to the 'flat' park, we are so lucky to have the choice of two close by.
I put some washing on and then we went out for coffee and a look around the shops.
We got back and made lunch
I tried out my new window cleaning gadget and it is pretty good so I got carried away and cleaned windows all afternoon. Now I just need something easy to clean the horrible Venetian blinds we have at every window!!!
When I checked the washing machine earlier I found it was broken again!!!! Argh!!!!! I am not impressed. Jon emailed Seleena, the landlady. Fortunately, she was in and replied straight away and says she will go and buy a new one tomorrow - thank goodness. She has asked if we would mind a top loader as they are so much cheaper. I would be very happy with a top loader.
WEATHER
A little cooler today but the rain never arrived 15 degrees

Some real bargains
I took Tot out for her walk and then went straight to my physio appointment. She strapped my kneecap to make the muscles work better but it feels pretty uncomfortable. She then did some work on my back which is in spasm due to the way I have been walking.
I then went to the Red Cross, and as Sharon was on holiday Les and I were on our own and we were quite busy.
I managed to find some bargains, two lovely cord pinafore dresses for my nephew's girls. They are brand new and by a good European kids clothes company. I took some photos of them and emailed my nephew and if they like them I will send them over.
Jon and Heather went out for lunch so I had mine and then sat down for a rest.
Viv went out to the English butcher this morning and she called around with my gammon steaks, yum.
I sorted out my wardrobe and threw a lot out, well they will go to the Red Cross, I needed to make some room!!!
I then finished my ironing while watching TV.
Heather and I walked Tot this evening.

A lovely 'please myself' day
I love winter days like this, so warm and sunny and got to 25 degrees on our deck this afternoon.
I had a really busy day today and started by putting the much needed colour on my hair so I now look a little younger than I did yesterday!
I managed to get two loads of washing out to dry and was about to go and do my shopping when I noticed a flea on Tot and on closer inspection found four more!!! So shopping trip on hold and into the bath with Tea Tree for the dog. I only treated her with Frontline three weeks ago!!! I then had another load of washing to do as all her beds needed to be washed, just as well it was a good drying day.
I then went off for my coffee, just found a nice new bar near the supermarket which is very convenient, and then into do my shopping. I met Margaret in the supermarket and said I would give her a lift home which was good as I then had to do my shopping fast and not spend an age looking at things I don't need.
Heather came home and I had cooked jacket potatoes for both of us. Jon had a board meeting and said he would not be home but just as Heather arrived he phoned to say he was coming home, too so I had to make a sandwich for him.
When they both left to go back I sat and sorted out a photo album I am making of our Sydney and Vanuatu trips. I then watched some TV before getting stuck into the mountain of ironing I have. It was so lovely sitting in the sun and it is so warm today, winter is not so bad down here.
I took Tot out for her walk and came back and carried on ironing. Jon arrived home at 6.10 and I was not expecting him as he said he would be going to the gym but obviously got tied up at the office.
We had dinner and had just cleared up when Heather got back from her netball match so I had to start again and make her an omelette!!!

Welcome back Carol
I walked Tot round the block and Jon set off to Auckland from home so didn't need to go to the office.
I went across to the swimming pool but I really don't like this pool as much as the open air hot pool and I will be glad then they open again. I saw Carol across the car park and tried to run ouch!
After swimming we went for a nice chat and coffee. I called into the dressmaker to collect my jeans
I got lunch ready for Heather and then had a bit of a rush to clean around and make scones for
Margaret and Viv and they were really good, I haven't made scones for ages.
Heather cooked dinner and then we watched TV and Jane phoned for a chat.

More daffodil phoning
I took Tot for a walk and spoke to Viv who is coming for a cuppa tomorrow as I am not going to keep fit at the moment I don't get to see her.
I called Avon Carol with my order and then went out to my physio appointment which was more of the same.
I popped in for a sneaky coffee on my way back. I have found this lovely new cafe which is just between the physio and here and near the supermarket and they do the most amazing cakes, pies and bread but I haven't tried them yet but they look so good.
Got back and did some checking on places to see for out China trip at the end of September.
We had lunch and then I went out to do more daffodil phoning as they are nearly on the end and wanted to have one last push.
When I got back I called Margaret to invite her round tomorrow with Viv as they both get on well.
I called Carol who is back from Oz and had a chat with her and then spoke to Les who now has a flat and will move in at the weekend. I feel very sorry for her.
Jon came home with more info on out trip and my head is spinning with China stuff and dates.
Heather starts boot camp next week as she wants to get really fit, good luck to her.

Housework
It is that day again - Monday so washing, housework and clearing out.
Jon had to take his car in to have the alloy wheel repaired where he hit a kerb!!! So I had to go and pick him up and take him home for lunch. Heather came home and took him back.
More cleaning and then ironing but at least it is all done for the week now.
