Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday

FRIDAY

Sorry I am not keeping up with the blog but I promise I will get better. As soon as the office is decorated I can use the computer instead of the laptop or my ipad.

Friday morning was spent mostly in the house sorting out - so much sorting out to do!!

We had another skip delivered and Jon spent most of the day in the garden with our next door neighbour, Chris, cutting the laurel down and loading it into the skip which soon filled up. The hedge looks pretty bare now and Totty is having great fun trying to get through to the chickens and cat!

Friday afternoon I thought I had plenty of time to get the dinner into the oven for when Kirsty, Heather and Heather's friend came home but I was wrong and Kirsty arrived so we chatted about the house and what we have done so far and what we have to do and so time moved on and I was still preparing veg when Heather came home. Not having all my usual cooking things makes it difficult not to mention the pans whith everything sticking to them! Eventually it was in the oven, coq au vin, and the potatoes on to boil.

I then had a mini meltdown as I could see it wasn't going to be ready on time. We were rushed as Heather had people coming round for a 'girls night in' to raise money for McMillan Nurses and they were due at 7.30. It was finally decided to have fish and chips and the girls went out to buy it which meant dinner was ready for Saturday!

After we had eaten and cleared away we got things ready for the girls which involved 900grms of chocolate for the chocolate fountain. On the plus side we did have a lot of fresh fruit to dip into it.

We had a nice evening and raised £100.

WEATHER
Warm and sunny with some cloud 20 degrees.

SATURDAY
We woke to a beautiful sunny day and after breakfast we drove into Cambridge and parked in the car park at Heather's office. We walked down the road to Costa and had a coffee and waited for Heather's friend to arrive and then we set off to the Cambridge Food Festival.

Unfortunately, it all had to be inside but it would have been so much nice to be outdoors and it was very crowded but lots of food to try.

We left to go and have lunch and bought pasties and went and sat outside King's College to eat them in the lovely warm weather. There was a graduation taking place and it was very busy with lots and lots of students walking around in their cloaks with some very proud parents.

We then walked back to the car and came home and my feet were killing me.

As I didn't need to make dinner I had some time so went into the front garden and cleared the weeds and it is all ready for the bark now and looking tidy.

We had dinner and Heather went into Cambridge to stay at her friend's house.

WEATHER
Very warm and sunny 23 degrees

SUNDAY
Jon and I went down to Homebase this morning to buy some bark for the flower beds. Four bags does not go far and I can see we will have to make a few trips before we are finished!

James came to pick us up and take us to their house for a bbq. It is the first time we have seen Kirsty's house and it is very nice with lovely bathrooms, all three which is a little excessive for a three bedroom house.

I saw her new rabbit which is really pretty with lovely black and white markings and she has two tiny baby rabbits one like her and one all black. They don't have their eyes open yet and are very tiny.

Jane and Jason arrived and it was their first wedding anniversary today so I was able to give them a present on the day. Heather had been to visit her friend and new baby in Royston and arrived shortly after.

We all sat out in the garden and it was so warm. James cooked a lovely bbq and we all enjoyed it.

Heather brought us home and I was more than ready for my bed but had to take Totty out for a walk first. She seems to enjoy going out again.

WEATHER
Sunny 25 degrees

MONDAY

It was very hot last night and I was awake a lot trying to get comfortable.

I had to get up early so my alarm was set for 7.30 and I could have slept on then!

I needed to make an appointment to see the doctor and you can only call on the day as they do not pre book any appointments. I started dialling the number just before 8.30 and it took me 15 minutes of constantly re dialling before I got through. I was given an appointment for 11.00 and told to 'be prepared to wait'.

Once my appointment was booked I could then decide which exercise class I wanted to go to and it was better to go to Pilates from 9.15 - 10.15 as this fitted better. I got ready and rushed off to the Leisure Centre and arrived just in time.

I really enjoyed the class and it was using the big balls, weights, and the rolls and also work on the bars and the hour flew by.

I got home changed and left for the doctor. I only had to wait for ten minutes so not bad. I have not been able to wear my wedding ring for about four weeks now as it goes red and itchy under it. I don't think after 34 years I am allergic to it so she things I must have got something under it to irritate and gave me some cream to use twice a day and if it does not clear in two weeks I am to go back.

I also have a lesion on my back which I was concerned about but she told me to use the same cream on it and see now it goes but it is nothing to worry about.

I then had to go to the phone shop again for them to sort my phone as I can't send texts. Hopefully, they will have got it right this time.

Back home Jon was stuck into painting the office along with doing some gardening and sanding down a small wooden table. When he has had enough of one job or is waiting for paint to dry he goes onto another and he is working so hard but seems to be thriving on it and no coffee today!

I did my ironing but I am finding it very hard to motivate myself to do anything as there is just so much to do and I don't know where to start! Once the builders are in we will just have to concentrate on the garden as we won't have anywhere else to go!

Jon went and spoke to our next door neighbours this evening, we haven't spoken to them for years due to a fall out over an annex they built. We have a man coming in tomorrow to look at the trees which are in their garden but hang over our side and drop plums down which ferment and smell terrible. Jon asked them if they would share the cost and she said she would be willing to see how much it is going to be so that was a positive move. Fingers crossed it is not too much.

While the dinner was cooking Jon and I sat out and had a G&T on the deck at the newly stained table and it was lovely sitting in the sun.

WEATHER
Sunny and very warm 24 degrees
