I slept well last night despite a few scary moments due to the house creaking.
I went over to my class this morning after a big bowl of muesli, I never usually eat that much!! Class was really good and we did some new exercises and of course ended with some samba.
I didn't stay for coffee as I had to get ready for work so picked up a take away cup on my way back.
My neighbour shouted hello to me this morning which was a surprise as she is not generally chatty. WE had a chat and I told her we would have to move in November and she told me they are moving as they are buying a house it is a shame their house is not in a better location - it has no gates and all the garden is open to the back neighbour and the street so no good for Tot. She also told me she is recovering from a heart attack and stroke and has had her thyroid removed and radiotherapy as she had Grave's disease and she is only in her early 40 I should think. Nice to chat to her though.
I managed to get Tot out for a little walk not far but it was better than nothing. We went into the park and she would only walk on the path and when I tried to take her across the field she would not go.
I had my lunch and then went to pick Sharon up and we went to the shop. We had a steady afternoon and I found another dress for my nephew's daughter.
I got home about 5.30 and made a cup of tea and then Jon came in. He had only just got back from Auckland so it was too late to go to the gym
I took some lamb shanks from the freezer that I had cooked the other night so it was an easy meal.
We watched some TV and that was it another day over!

First thunderstorm of the summer!
It was a lovely sunny morning and I went to keep fit. I came straight home and showered as I had an appointment with a dietitian at 12.00. I did have enough time to go for a coffee on my way there thought!
Fiona, was very nice and gave me lots of advice and tips and showed me the portion size I should be having of vegetables and it is really big and I am not sure I can eat that much. She thinks I am not eating enough bulk and fibre and gave me a list of foods and how much fibre they have and I have to try and eat at least 25grs a day and two litres of water. Hopefully, this will work and I am going to give it my best shot as I am fed up not being able 'to go'!
On my way back I went into the supermarket and bought lots of bran and fibre foods and she also told me to eat bread as it is good for me if I eat the right kind.
I got back and made a nice sandwich with lots of salad, carrot and beetroot in it - mmmmm!!
Jon has gone to Auckland today so I will have my first night on my own and I also have my Lions dinner to go to and I felt bad as it started to thunder this afternoon and poor Tot went crazy and I felt so bad leaving her to go out.
I went early as I wanted to pop in to a shop near where we have our meal to buy a new frying pan for my new hob but when I got there it had already closed so I just had to wait in the car till the other ladies arrived.
We had a really good meal tonight. We had been a little worried as a young Vietnamese couple have taken over the bar and we wondered what we would get but it was delicious, apricot chicken with vegetable rice, spring rolls and some really tasty prawn crackers and salad. Pudding was a lovely cream caramel and a little lemon muffin with icing and cream.
Our speaker was a lady from the Deaf Association and I just wish I could get Jon to have a hearing test as he has the TV so loud, can't hear me and says it is me nd can't hear conversations in crowded rooms but there is no way he will go.
I got back to a quiet house and I phoned my sister and we had a good chat for over an hour and now it is gone midnight and I really ought to go to bed and see how I get on with all the house creaks!!

Not a very good day
I made sure I was up early this morning as I didn't know what time the landlord was coming to fit the new induction hob. As it happened he arrived at 11.15 but I had managed to do most of my housework and get the washing out.
It didn't take him long and it was all sorted. He is flying to the UK tomorrow so asked if he could leave his tools here till the next time he is in Tauranga so I assume he must be going up to Auckland to get a flight tomorrow. He said he would be back later with a builder to have a look around.
He came back a little while later with the arborist who had cut the trees down at the front. He asked him about cutting the top of one of the trees at the back which will give us a nice view across the bay but not sure what was decided.
Later on he came back with three builders, one at a time, and it went on for most of the afternoon with him showing them around the inside and outside of the house and telling them what he wants done. He is planning to extend the kitchen outwards by one and a half meters and lower the window to get a better view. My dressing room is going to be made bigger by taking in the gallery which I think will be a shame and the two windows will be made into one big one which will meancutting through the wall with a chainsaw. He wants to extend the garage out to the back and the side and put a new bathroom in down in the old garage. Most of that will be done when we move out but a lot of the things he wasnts done now. I have come to the conclusion that we are not going to be here much more than our year's lease. The main reason being is that he thinks he is going to have a lot of the work done 'sooner' rather than later but if he thinks we are going to allow him to do all the inside work and put up with all the inconvenience that goes with building work and having to wait in for builders while paying the amount of rent we are, then he is very much mistaken. I have checked with Citizen's Advice and they say he is only allowed to do urgent maintenance unless we agree. I am happy for him to build the garage out at the front but he is now talking of having windows changed which will mean a lot of dust as they will have to be cut out. He also wants the post in the lounge - which I agree is in a silly place - removed and another beam put in to support it. We have got used to the post and if he removes it it will leave a hole in the carpet. I am not sure who he thinks is going to do all the cleaning up after builders but I am not prepared to let him do it. It will be no advantage to us as we will have to move out anyway so will get no benefit from it.
There is not a lot we can do at the moment until he actually says he wants to start and he has to get the plans passed first. After all the stress of the last house I can't believe we find ourselves in this situation and all because the agent didn't tell the truth!!!! I hope things don't turn nasty. He is very pleasant at the moment but may not be when we won't let him do what he wants.
In between letting builders into the house this afternoon I manged to get all my ironing done and at 6.30 the young lady who made the offer on Heather's car called to pay the money and pick it up. She is very sweet and very pleased with the car. I just hope nothing goes wrong with it for at least six months and then I won't feel bad if anything happens after that.
I phoned and made an appointment with a dietician for tomorrow. I hope she can help me sort out my diet and constipation as I am getting fed up with it after all these years.
Jon came home and we had dinner. I wanted to fry some fish but as my frying pan is no use on this new hob I had to cook it in the microwave. I will need to go and buy a new frying pan. I did use it to boil water for some couscous and it is very fast and so I think it will be good.

A lovely day in Rotorua
We had a bit of a lie in this morning and once up and having breakfast we had a phone call from the landlord. He said he had managed to pop around yesterday and took some photos of the garden but wanted to call this morning to see what he needed to fit the hob tomorrow. The new hob is very nice but I fear it is going to be a bit of a bodge job as he is going to stick a piece of aluminium over the hole that will be left after taking out the old hob control panel. Not much I can say really.
He arrived about 9.30 and seems a very nice man. He told us about all the plans for the house - big new garage, garden landscaping, a couple of new windows and eventually, though not while we are living here the extension and conversion to the garage downstairs and I am sure when it is all done it will make for a lovely house. I asked him when they intend to move up here and he said in about a year!!!! I told him we had been led to believe that this was a long term let and now it appears we have been misled - not sure if by him or the agent wanting to make a deal!!! I explained what we had been through and he said not to worry he would give us plenty of warning and in fact they had to sell their house in the South Island so a lot needs to be sorted. Hopefully, we can manage to stay till at least this time next year and hopefully, maybe a little longer.
When he left we went out for coffee and then over to Rotorua and stopped at the new Terrain Park. They have lots of area there where you can do outdoor activities and one of them is an Adrenalin Forest area where you climb trees and walk along various types of courses and lots of high wires and flying foxes. Heather had bought vouchers when she was here but as the weather was so bad she never got the chance to go which is a shame as I am sure she would have liked it.We had a look around and Jon and I might go back there sometime. I think I would only do the lower courses but I am sure it would be fun.
We carried on to Rotorua and went up to the luge on the gondola and we had lunch. It was so warm and sunny up there and really pleasant sitting outside. We met one of my friends over there who was there with her grandsons.
We then went down to the lake and walked around the outdoor Sunday market before heading home.
We had a bbq for dinner tonight and Jon tried to book a room for two nights of our Easter break but they need to confirm it so we can't book the third night till it is confirmed.
I had a chat to heather on my ipod on Face Time which was pretty cool and so easy. We are trying to sort out why the big printer downstairs won't work. She gave me a few ideas which I need to try out tomorrow.

A relaxing day
We woke this morning to a cloudy/sunny start to the day but it was warm.
We had breakfast and then waited for the landlord to arrive as he was due at 10.20. When he had not arrived by 10.50 I checked on flight arrivals and saw that their flight was delayed and not due in till 11.20 so we decided to go out and have our coffee as we thought they would not have time to come to the house before the wedding they were going to.
We went into Tauranga and had coffee at a new place next door to one of our favourite places and it was very good and the raspberry and white chocolate muffin was just too good and I think it would be best if I never go there again!!!!
We passed by one of Jon's favourite shops and saw it was closing down and so we just had to go in and two polo shirts and a pair of shorts later we came out!!
We then went to a gift shop I like and I bought some bits and pieces for Jane and Kirsty's Hen Nights so I will need to get them in the post.
We then went and bought a new wheel for the lawnmower and hopefully this one will fit and will not be a 'bodge' job like the other one was.
Off to the supermarket and I bought what I thought I needed for tonight's dinner - I forgot my list!!!
When we got back we had no idea if the landlord had been or not and Totty was no help!!!
I did forget the mushrooms for the dinner but never mind we can live without them.
We had lunch out on the deck as it was such a lovely afternoon and no wind. Jon then went out to cut the grass now that he has four working wheels it is much easier!
I spent the afternoon planning our Easter road trip and looking for accommodation which, on the East Cape is few and far between and we have no choice - one motel or nothing! That said I am really looking forward to it as I am told it is one of the most beautiful parts of NZ and it is where the sun rises first of all. WE hope to do a bit of self catering as it is usually 20% surcharge over the Easter holidays so we will take our chilly bin full of ice and hopefully sort ourselves out looking out over the lovely views.
I also manged to catch up with some emails and some letters to my auntie and uncle.
As Totty won't go out walking Jon and I took her into the garden this evening and we threw the ball to each other and she ran backwards and forwards between us for a good 15 minutes which is the most exercise she has had in a long time. She has spent the rest of the evening sleeping!!
It is a lovely clear evening tonight and there are so many stars to be seen.
We had some nice drinks before dinner Jon and a G & T and I had a very nice pina colada. Dinner was good, too followed by some good blue cheese.

A sunny day again
So nice to wake to a sunny morning!!
I went off to work and remembered to park my car up the hill this week as I did not want another fine!!
It was nice to see Sharon back from her holiday in Fiji and I am happy to say she really enjoyed it and said it was everything I said it was which was a relief when I had recommended it so highly.
As we are not putting stock out at the moment, due to it being the end of the season and we have a sale coming up, it was a little quiet in the shop today. However, I did manage to find a few nice things to send to my nephew's little girls that I am sure they will like. I also found a lovely top for me to wear with trousers. The new temporary manager asked if I could work an extra shift and so I said I would go in on Wednesday. Sharon works that day also and I said I would giver her a lift so I mustn't forget!!
I went into town after work and paid my parking ticket and sent the girls the present I had bought for them in Australia - at last.
I got back and the lady who had looked at Heather's car earlier in the week called to ask if a mechanic could come and look at the car which he did at 4.00 and said it was a good little car.
Totty would not go out for a walk again so I finally managed some time in the garden and actually got my new gardening gloves dirty and I quite enjoyed it.
Jon came home and then went out for our dinner which was very good tonight and even though I only allow myself a tiny bit of the batter from the fish it was very good and really crispy!!
We watched some TV and the lady called about the car and made an offer, she was a very nice lady, and Jon accepted. She said she will bring the cash round on Monday evening so all good - car sold.
The house and garden are all tidy and hopefully the landlord will find it all good tomorrow when they come!!

A very wet day
We woke to rain and it continued all day some really heavy. We could hardly see across the bay so I stayed in all day.
I phoned my sister and she was engaged so I phoned one of my friend's and she was out so I phoned another friend and she was asleep as she had been up at 4.00 looking after her granddaughter who was not well. I spoke to my friend's husband for a while about his recent 60th birthday before he went to wake her up. I felt really bad but he said no she would want to speak to me and she had been asleep long enough!!
We chatted for ages and had a good catch up and she told me about their joint 60 birthday holiday they are going on to USA in June for 19 days and it sounds very exciting.
The morning was nearly over when I had finished my call and it was still pouring with rain.
I did the rest of my ironing and made up Heather's bed though I don't know when it will be used again! I finished my indoor tidying and so the house is ready for the landlord on Saturday.
I made a spaghetti sauce for dinner and two cakes one fruit and a nice lemon slice so I now have enough cake in the freezer for a good few weeks.
Jon didn't go to the gym so was home early and we had dinner and then watched a bit of TV. Jon brought the booking home for our flight and they are all booked and confirmed now. We arrive in the UK on 14 Aug and leave on 3 Sept and hopefully that is it and no more changes.

So much to do today!
It rained a lot during the night and the window was open but fortunately for me the wind was blowing the other way so I didn't get wet.
We woke to a grey morning and I wondered if we would get our class done before the rain.
Heather called and we had a chat which made me late leaving so I didn't get there for the start - again. We had Carla the Brazilian girl again and she was very good. I looked at her and she looked wet and Les told me that she had jumped in to save a lady who was having some sort of seizure. The lifeguard was standing there and taking off his shoes and shirt and the woman was drowning so she jumped in!!! Some lifeguard!!
It started to rain in the class and as we were in the pool it was OK and as Carla was so wet she was OK, too!! I got changed into my 'going to the doctor' clothes after the class as I didn't have time to go back home.
After the class we went for coffee and the muffin of the day was mixed berry and walnuts and I could not resist and it was soooo good. We had a look at Diane's daughter's wedding photos and they were lovely.
I had to dash off to have my hair done and she has cut it a bit short really but it is OK.
I did mange to get home for five minutes and then went up for my hospital appointment. I was glad it was changed as I was first so didn't have to wait. He said all is looking OK and there are no changes and to go back in 6 month's. I will need to get the appointment sorted out as that will be just as we are going to the UK.
I went to the supermarket and did my first big shop since Heather left. I have just been buying bit and pieces but I was running out of lots of basics.
I got back and had lunch and saw that Jon had forwarded an email to me from our landlord. He is coming up this weekend and wants to fit the new hob and we had told him that he could do it on Monday. He has now asked if he can pop by on Saturday with his wife. They are going to a wedding and only have a few minutes but she wants to see the garden to 'plan it for landscaping'. He also said he wants to bring in a few plants over the next few weeks and get them planted up. This sounds to me, and I am not surprised, that he is intending moving in here after our year is up and we had been told this was a 'long term' let so I am not very happy. We have bought two lots of deck furniture and two bbqs not to mention the kayak and I am sure we won't get another house in a location like this where we will be able to use a kayak!!! We are going to ask him straight out how long we have and at least we will know sooner rather than later!! Why can't people be honest??
I spent the evening looking at flight options as Kirsty would like us to be in the UK a bit longer before she goes on honeymoon. so at the moment we are now arriving in the UK on 14 August and leaving on 3 September. Jon will book it tomorrow - for the second time- and then that is it!!
WEATHER
Cloudy and wet for most of the day 23 degrees
A small class today
I went out to my class and didn't even try to get the dog out this morning. Not sure why but there were only seven of us this morning so we all had to work really hard as she could see us all!!! It was really hot, too. I stayed for a coffee and a chat and we discussed reasons why it was so low today and I think it could be partly due to people taking late holidays. There are also a lot of ladies in their late 70s and so of course they are going to have illnesses and strains and not always feel like coming to a class in the heat. Diane is going to keep it going till the end of March and then review it and then she might look at a different venue to see if that will make a difference.
I got back home and spent ages on the computer uploading photos from HK but I still have a lot to do.
I had lunch and as the tide was out I decided to try and take Tot out on the beach as it was so quiet. She did quite well but I have to say I don't enjoy walking out onto the sand as it is so soft and squidgy so we changed and went along and she was fine till she saw a dog, which was barking, in one of the gardens that face onto the estuary and that was it she wanted to go back but at least we managed a little walk.
I picked all the remaining lemons from the tree today and gave them a scrub as they are dirty. Hopefully, we will have a good crop next year, too.
I had a message left on my phone to ask if I could go for my gynae appointment at 1.15 tomorrow instead of 3.30 so I had to phone and change my hair appointment to 11.30 and I will have to take all my thinks with me to my swimming class and then go to the hairdresser and then up to the hospital but it is better than 3.30.
A lady came to look at the car and brought her landlord with her to check it over. She is from one of the islands I think and is here to study. She really liked the car but is trying to get her student loan sorted so said she will get back to us.
I cooked some nice pork fillet for dinner. I marinated it in olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and rosemary and then fried it and it was so tasty and we had it with salad.
Just going to make Jon's lunch now then off to bed.

Housework Monday
Jon was awake early and so was up and ready for work early and I was glad I had made his lunch on Sunday night so I didn't have to rush.
I showered and had my breakfast and read an email from my sister in law in Cornwall telling me that they were all looking forward to seeing us for the wedding but she wondered why Julie and Nick had not been invited and was it an oversight!!! I quickly rang Kirsty to ask her where she had sent the invitation to as I know she would never not invite Julie. She had sent it to the correct address so she said she would call Julie which she did and it is all sorted out now. I am so pleased all the family are coming from Cornwall as I didn't think they would as it is so far and Kirsty is thrilled.
I then spent an hour on the phone to my friend Sonia whom I haven't spoken to for months so that was very nice. Jane then sent me a message and said was I in for a call so she then called but they tricked me and Heather, who was at Jane's house, spoke thinking she could kid me into thinking it was Jane but I knew it was her. Jane and I had a good chat and before I knew it it was nearly 12.00 and all I had done was hang out the sheets!!!
I got stuck into my housework and it was soon all done and I had a late lunch before settling down to do the ironing and finally caught up with Neighbours. I just have to tackled the 30+ Ellen programmes now!!
Jon had an assessment at the gym tonight and has a new programme to do so we will see how he gets on with that.
We had fish and salad for dinner and then watched TV. We had two calls about Heather's car and one lady is coming tomorrow and one on Wednesday hopefully it will sell soon.
Totty refused to go out for a walk again today even though I had given her a biscuit before we left which she usually gets when we get back so not sure what to do with her.
We noticed the evening was drawing in tonight for the first time which I hate to see as it means winter is on the way but at least we will be away for part of it this year so not so bad.

Summer!
We woke to a beautiful clear, sunny day but I think I had one too many cocktails last night!!! I should have just had the one instead of two!!
The people who came to see Heather's car yesterday want to bring a mechanic to look at it so we needed to go and have coffee and be back in time to see him.
We just went out to Classic Flyers at the airport and Jon popped into the DIY place to get a new wheel for the mower which he broke but they didn't have any.
We got back and as it was so hot we just sat on the deck in the shade. I made a very nice silver beet omelette for lunch and then sat in the garden reading my book for the afternoon. I did get two loads of washing done though. I did go down onto the beach with Tot as the tide was coming in and had a paddle and, for a change, the water was very warm.
We are trying to find a hotel near KL airport and have seen two really nice looking places but the reviews are so mixed it is difficult to know what to do.
The man checked the car out and the people called back to offer $300 less after Jon already dropping the price so he told them no.
We tried to take Tot out and she just would not move from the end of the drive.
I made a lamb shank casserole yesterday evening to have tonight and I could not believe how hot it was. Our thermometer read 29 in the shade but the official was 27 and top of the country for today. The forecast was for rain hence the casserole. I should know better than to listen to the weather men!!

Glaucoma
My alarm was set wrong and so did not wake me!! Fortunately, I woke at 7.40 so was not late. I had to be at the Armitage Hotel for 9.00 to be 'hostess' for the glaucoma meeting which is held every year and Lions help as hostesses.
I was a little sceptical about this meeting but in the end I found it to be very informative. Sue, the other 'Lion', and I had to greet people and show them where the room was and seat them. The hotel had set out 100 chairs and to our amazement they all filled up and we had to ask for more seats. The speaker, a consultant ophthalmologist, was very good, not sure what nationality he was but he spoke very well and I found it very interesting. It also made me realise how bad the health service is here in NZ - they have no funding and no glaucoma programme!!!!
The morning passed much faster than I thought it would and soon it was finished and we were free to go.
I went home and Jon had been busy in the garden and had also had another gliding flight but as the thermals were not good he did not stay up long. I made lunch and then I went over to the book rooms as they had the 'half price' sale to try and get rid of the remainder of the books. They did pretty well but we still have so many left.
After the book rooms I went to the supermarket and got some fruit and veg and some meat for our dinner.
Once home I made a cuppa and Jon and I had a chat before I got on with dinner prep. I had taken some lamb shanks out of the freezer (they did say it would be horrible weather today) so I had to cook them and hopefully it will not be too hot to eat them tomorrow. I also made some very yummy venison burgers.
Jon sorted out the bbq but we had to wait as somebody came to look at Heather's car - fingers crossed!!! We had burgers and a piece of steak and corn on the cob. I could only manage my burger and the half a piece of corn which was all very good - looks like steak sandwich for lunch tomorrow.
We sat looking at the stars from the deck (I did take Tot for a quick walk along the beach but she did not want to go far!!!) and I tried to use my 'app' to see what they were but I can't make head nor tails of it!! Never mind the stars are really beautiful anyway!

A lot of rain and a parking ticket
It was dull and very overcast first thing and I got up and ready for work. I didn't try to take Tot as it was spitting a little so I just went to work.
Les and I had a very busy morning as it was just the two of us again. I went for our coffee when one of the other ladies came in at 11.00.
Another couple of ladies came in at 12.00 and one noticed a parking warden putting tickets on mine and Les' car. It was by this time pouring with rain as we ran out to speak to him but as the tickets were issued we couldn't do anything about it. It is a shame we did not notice him when he came to chalk the tyres as we could have moved them then. He came back half an hour later and put the tickets on. We have parked there for months and although it is a two hour parking zone nobody has ever checked. But, today, one of the wettest days we have had he comes along.
Les and I went back in for our keys to move the cars right up to the top of the hill. Coming back we got soaked as we only had sandals and summer dresses on!!!
We carried on working till 1.00 and then I went to get my car as I had my umbrella and I came down and gave Les a lift to hers. I got my feet very wet again and ended up being like a Kiwi and walking barefoot as I was slipping too much in my sandals. I won't be parking by the shop again.
I got home and had to change as I was so wet. I did have a letter from the hospital giving me my overdue appointment. I should have had a check up at the beginning of February but as no card arrived I called when we got back from HK and still nothing so I called again yesterday and the appointment arrived today by 'fast' post. I think the whole hospital system is a disaster here.
As it was so wet I just stayed in and watched TV. I am nearly up to date with Neighbours now.
It dried up late this afternoon so I tried to take Tot out but she wouldn't go.
Jon came in from the gym, showered and then went for our fish and chips - yummy.
My friend's daughter got married today and I feel so sorry for her as she was due to be married in the grounds of a hotel but it would have had to have been inside, such a shame.

A lovely walk
Once again the weathermen got it wrong and we woke to a beautiful sunny morning.
I went to pick Margaret up and we arrived at the park with lots of other ladies and set off on the walk. We did the long walk and it took us an hour and a half but it was such a lovely day and walking along the foreshore was really pleasant.
We arrived back last, only six of us did the long walk, just as the coffee lady was leaving!!! We sat for a little while and had a drink of water and then we left.
We stopped for a coffee on the way back. It never ceases to amaze me how much women can talk as we didn't stop the whole time.
I got back and hung out my washing and took Tot out and she actually walked, I just don't understand her.
I got back and had lunch and then went to sit in the garden as it was far too hot to do any ironing. I had a lovely afternoon out there and played ball with Tot and read my book.
I came in and cooked dinner and Jon came home about 7.00 and we ate and then watched TV and I feel very rosy from the sun!!!

Another wet day
I didn't wake till I heard Jon leave this morning, just as well I made his lunch last night!
As I was going swimming I didn't need a shower so was ready in plenty of time for my class.
I spoke to Heather briefly and she was so happy about her job and says it is the 'perfect job'. She was taken out to lunch yesterday by her manager and the other assistant manager, there will be two assistants now with Heather there. They had a lot in common as one has been to Oz and the other did the Kiwi Experience and they are both due to get married this year so between travel and wedding the conversation was easy. There will be a chance to travel and she is going to London at the end of March on a Photoshop course for two days. We are so pleased and happy for her.
My class was really good today and we had the Brazilian teacher again and she is so good. She is trying to get a Tuesday evening class going which would be good. We managed to get the class done before it rained. Les and I went for coffee on our own for a change as Carol was away anyway so we tried a different bar.
I stopped off for some fruit and veg on the way home and it was by now raining a lot and very miserable.
I got back and decided to dye my hair as it was looking a mess. A bit of ironing and some TV and then Jon came home early as he was late at work so it made it too late for the gym.
We had dinner and watched TV. I didn't manage to get Tot out today as she just wouldn't go!!
We are doing well with our no alcohol through the week now and I hope it makes some difference on the scales but even if it doesn't it has to be better for the liver!!!

Tuesday
The forecast was for heavy showers and thunder but we didn't get them, well not here we didn't.
I went to keep fit and it was so hot and I was dripping. I stayed for a coffee and a chat with Viv and then went home.
I tried to take Tot out twice today but she wouldn't go.
I finally got round to washing my car and it looks very smart again.
I did a few jobs around the house and had lunch then watched some Neighbours.
I prepared Jon's dinner as I had a Lions business meeting tonight and as I had left myself a bit short of time, mainly due to Tot doing a wee on the carpet and I had to clean it! I didn't have enough time for dinner so just had a protein shake before rushing off to pick up Helen and Jean.
I was very surprised to see the main road was very wet after what had been a heavy shower but we only had a few drops and it can't be more than 500 yards away!
Helen and Jean were not waiting in the usual spot and after a few minutes I wondered where they were and then realised I was an hour early. Business meeting start at 7.00 and dinner meeting start at 6.00!!! So I had to go back home for an hour. I think I am losing the plot. I would have had time for dinner but was too full up with my protein drink!
I did go out later and pick them up and we went to the meeting which was very long as it is the first since Christmas and so a lot of post has come in.
I finally got home at 9.30, very hungry and had to have a bit of bread and tuna when I was making Jon's sandwiches for tomorrow. I don't like bread so late as I will now have indigestion - my own fault.
We think we are just about sorted for our flight home in August and will fly with Air Malaysia and stop in KL - exciting!!

Rainy day
We woke to a very wet morning today which put paid to my meeting with Joan to walk around the Mount and then go for a coffee. Instead I stayed in and did a lot of housework. Like finally cleaning Heather's room which made me shed a tear or two.
The weather brightened up and I hung out my washing and was busy with the vacuum cleaner when I looked out of the window and it was pouring with rain. So a quick dash downstairs and got very wet and brought it in and had to use the dryer.
I spent the afternoon ironing and watching Neighbours which I haven't watched since before Christmas. It was just as well they have a break for the holidays or I would have had as many Neighbours as I have Ellen's!!!
I popped out to the supermarket late this afternoon to get bread and orange juice which Jon will need for the morning.
I cooked some of the nice sausages we bought over the weekend wild boar and free range port with fennel. Both were very good.
After dinner I carried on ironing and we watched a Midsommer Murders.
Just time to make a sandwich for Jon's lunch tomorrow and then off to bed - clean sheets mmmmmm I love Mondays for clean sheets!!

A very quiet day
After such a lovely day yesterday it was a shock to wake to heavy cloud and a cold wind that's NZ for you.
So pleased to hear that the girls all went to buy Kirsty's wedding dress yesterday so she is very happy now.
We had a lazy morning and took Tot out before going to the Mount for coffee at the Swiss Chalet which is on what they call the Cruise Deck a small shopping plaza. While having our coffee I noticed a shop with a sale on of nothing over $59 and so after coffee we went to have a look. I found a lovely pair of Australian designer jeans reduced from $150 and in my size. They are such a lovely fit apart from being too long and so I bought them.
We walked along the street and I went into a lovely shoe shop which also had a sale on, lots of sales at the moment, as I am looking for some nice navy shoes for the wedding but it is so hard to find here in NZ. At the back of the shop they had a reduced section and I found some really lovely navy shoes reduced to $40 and with a insole they are so comfortable and do not bother my troublesome bunion and as they were reduced from $130 it was such a good buy. I just hope my dress is OK when it arrives!!
On our way back to the car we stopped at the Farmer's Market as we saw a sign selling Cornish Pasties and we had a taste. They were soooo good and just like real Cornish pasties so blow went the diet and we bought two for lunch.
We stopped to buy some fruit and vegetables on the way home and were back in the house by lunchtime.
The pasties were so good and I didn't feel at all guilty for eating it.
We spent a quiet afternoon, Jon in the garden reading the paper till it rained and I downloaded the full set of Anne of Green Gables. After finishing the book yesterday I just have to find out what happens to her. I have to say it is a lovely book and well worth the read. Fortunately, it is one of the 'free' books from my eReader company which is good.
We had some lovely lamb chops cooked on the bbq tonight but Jon was out cooking them on his own and I was inside making the salad and setting the table - so different to last night when we sat out for a long time.
After dinner we watched an episode of Lewis which was very enjoyable.
Off to bed now as I have a busy morning walking around the Mount as long as it is not raining!

Another sunny day
Saturday and a nice lie in for both of us.
After breakfast and as we were about to go out the phone rang and it was Kirsty and we ended up chatting for over an hour and a half!! But it was very nice to talk to her.
We left the house and went to the farmers market and bought some nice sausages and cheese and some lovely plums.
We then went to the Harbourside and had a coffee looking out over the harbour and it was very nice. We then went to the bakers and bought some nice bread for dinner.
On the way home we stopped at the Gourmet Food Company and bought some goodies - I love that shop!
When we got back we had lunch and then Jon went to work in the garden and I had a nice read to the end of Anne of Green Gables. It is such a lovely story and I loved it and cried so much - everyone should read this book!!!
Some silly fisherman had caught a LOT of fish last night in the bay and had filleted them and left the heads and bones in a heap just at the boat ramp so we have had seagulls shouting and eating the remains all day! How inconsiderate can you get? Children and dogs and families are all around in the park and we don't need that. However, Mr Bean, the cat from next door, enjoyed his time chasing the gulls and eating the fish this evening.
We had some nice fillet steak cooked on the bbq for dinner sitting out on the deck and it was a lovely evening till the wind got up and we had to come in Bedtime now.

A busy day at Red Cross
I did manage to get up early this morning after a really bad night. I thought Jon had given me real coffee instead of decaf as I was awake for hours!
It was a really lovely morning today. With the tide in and the sun shining I just had to take a photo.
I went off to work and spent a very busy morning as it was only Les and I and we worked really hard. I managed to find a black top to go with my new skirt. I would have liked blue but I need to take the skirt in to make sure I get the right blue.
I didn't finish till gone 1.00 and then popped in to the supermarket to get some dog bones and peas - you can't have fish and chips and no peas.
By the time I got home it was nearly 3.00 so a late lunch again. I then spent the rest of the afternoon clearing up my 'inbox' which is in such an untidy mess with so many jokes and email to reply to. I also ordered the canvas print that I had bought online nearly three months ago. I had the photo of us all, when Jane and Jason were over, at the luge so hopefully it will be good. I now have to choose one of us all when James and Kirsty were over.
Jon came home and after watching the news he went out for our dinner. We ate on the deck and it was such a lovely evening, they have been few this summer.
Not sure what we have planned for this weekend but I am off to bed now and hopefully I will sleep tonight.

Another sunny day
I slept late this morning and when Jon came up to brush his teeth I thought he was just getting up so went back to sleep - oops no sandwich for Jon today!
When I did get up - 7.45 - I got ready and didn't see any point in trying to take Tot out as it was bin day so I just did some housework and hung out the washing and had a game of ball with her in the garden.
I did some ironing and then took Tot out for a late walk and with a little encouragement she made it round the block.
I went over to the book rooms to sort out the left over books for the next book sale at which we are going to sell them at half price, just to get rid of them or we will have to pack and store them.
I was only there an hour and then went to post off the dresses to Barbara for the girls and some birthday cards.
I drove down to Bayfair and went for my deep tissue hot stone massage which was bliss. I think when we go back to the UK to live I will ask this lovely young Thai girl to come with me!!
I got home and had a cup of tea and prepared the dinner. We had calamari tubes filled with couscous. It was OK but I don't think I will make it again.
We watched TV and Heather called to ask if we could get a letter from the insurance company to say she didn't make any claims while over here or her insurance will go up. Jon will do it tomorrow. WE haven't heard anything else about the car and the man who came to see it yesterday.
After painting my nails and typing my blog I am more or less on time again for an early night. I am doing well!

A little Salsa was good
It was so nice to see the sun again this morning and the early cloud lifted to leave a lovely warm, sunny day.
We had some good news from Heather as she has been called back for a second interview - fingers crossed again for Thursday.
Tot wouldn't walk again today so I just went off to my aqua aerobics class. We had the Brazilian teacher and she is so good and we ended the class with some salsa dancing in the pool. It would be do good to have her every week. I must say I am feeling the aches from my class yesterday so not sure how I will be tomorrow.
We went into the hot pools after the class and had a chat with some of the ladies before showering and then going for coffee. We were a big group this morning more than ten of us which caused one man to be quite rude as we knocked his chair while we were sitting down and he said 'this place is like a bleeding beach bar'!! Well yes, it is on the beach though what that has got to do with it I don't know. Unfortunately, he had an English accent and behaved like a yob!
We sat chatting and it was so nice to have a sunny morning and no wind down there.
I stopped off to buy some fish on my way home as I have found a nice fish kebab recipe.
When I got back I did some housework and then uploaded some photos onto Facebook.
I took Tot into the garden to play ball as she should be having some exercise. She really enjoyed it but it was a little hot so she didn't last long before going to sit in the shade under a tree. I sat out for a little while and read my book.
I tried to catch up with some Ellen but Jon came home without going to the gym as somebody was coming to see Heather's car. They arrived and liked it but were viewing it for some people in Hamilton. He was going home to call them to tell them it was a good car and to come over and check it out.
We have some potential flights for our trip home in August. They are with Emirates and go via Oz then Dubai. We will stop one night on the way over and maybe two on the way back. Still not sure of the dates but it will probably be one week before the wedding and two after.
I tried to call Bronwyn but Peter said she was away in Auckland visiting her daughter again.
We had a nice dinner and we finished early enough to be able to watch one of our two hour recorded programmes - George Gently - which was very good.
I am on track for an early night again so it is off to bed for me.

Back to keep fit
Typical weather - holiday over so the sun comes out and we have a lovely day!!
I managed to get Tot out for her walk this morning with only a little bit of pulling!!
I went back to keep fit for the first time this morning since December. I thought I would feel it really bad tonight but so far I am fine. I enjoyed my class but couldn't stay for coffee as we were going to the cinema and I had to get home to shower.
I got home and ready and was out again by 11.30 to pick Margaret and Viv up.
We met Carol at Grindz Cafe and ordered our lunch. Les was a little late but arrived in time to have lunch and then we went across to the cinema.
The film, Descendants with George Clooney, was very good and we all enjoyed it very much - especially George Clooney!!
We then went for a glass of wine to say happy birthday to Carol before heading home.
I fed a very hungry Totty when I got back and uploaded some photos onto Facebook and read my emails. I had one from Heather to say she has an interview for a position tomorrow at a place in Cambridge and it sounds very good if she gets it - fingers crossed everyone!!
I cooked some chicken for dinner and Jon, who also went back to the gym for the first time today, came home about seven and we had dinner.
There was a lot of noise from a family in the park. they had a small camper van out there and the music turned up very loud from 5.00 till 8.30 - some people have no consideration for others.
Heather called and we had a chat to her about her interview and she told us about her weekend with her friends and all the snow. She seems quite happy at home.
Kirsty still hasn't sorted the problem out with the bridesmaids dresses out yet.
And now it is time for bed as I am trying to have some earlier nights as I spend far too much time on this computer!!!

Still not much sunaround
I got my early night last night and was awake at a more sensible time today.
We managed to get Tot out for her walk and then we went across to Bayfair for a coffee and to get something for dinner.
We got back and Jon went into the garden to cut the grass and do other various bits and pieces and I pottered about doing this and that till lunch.
I am still trying to cut down on food intake but it is hard. I have cleared out all the sweets and things Heather left and will give them to Viv for her grandchildren.
After lunch Jon went back into the garden and I put the TV on and watched five episodes of Ellen while doing my ironing. I still have 39 to go so I need to get on to it this week.
Jon posted Heather's car on Trademe and we had a man call this afternoon who seemed interested and is from Hamilton and said he will call again, we'll see.
I cooked some nice pork and red pepper kebabs for dinner and then e watched TV before bed.

Showjumping
I had another nice lie in this morning but it was only just after eight when I got up.
The weather was cloudy again but warm but I do miss seeing the sun.
After breakfast we took Tot out and she walked all the way again so twice in a row, not bad.
We then went to the airport for Jon's second gliding lesson. I had forgotten my jacket but fortunately for me Jon had one in the car which was just as well as there was a mean wind blowing out there.
He went up a little late and as last time he was only up for about ten minutes I thought I would be able to stand the cold. However, he was up a total of 50 minutes and I was beginning to get very worried. He came back eventually and had had a really good time flying nearly as far as Rotorua and actually doing a lot of the flying himself so he was very pleased with himself and is now looking forward to the next class, still two to go.
We then went for a very late coffee and then to buy some house plants which don't appear to be very popular in NZ and there is not much choice but we did manage to get three and some herbs and a tomato and a pepper plant.
From there we went up to Tauranga race course to see the showjumping. It was free to go in and most of the competitions were for amateurs but the last one was for the professionals and it was a World Cup classifier which was interesting but we only stayed long enough to have lunch and watch a few of the riders before we went home.
We didn't do much this afternoon, Jon potted the plants and I read my book and carried on deleting a lot of the duplicated photo albums that seem to have appeared on Picasa and is making our C drive look very full but we are now back in the blue again.
Jon cooked a really good T bone on the bbq for dinner and we had that with salad.
Hopefully I am going to get an early night tonight instead of staying up all hours on the computer!!!

What a quiet day
After a really good night's sleep I woke at 9.30 which is very unusual for me but non the less enjoyable!!
Jon had only woken at 8.30 so I was not too far behind and after a cup of tea and a banana, still trying to lose those pounds, I was ready to take Tot out and she decided that she wanted a walk today so all good.
We then went into Tauranga and had a coffee at our usual place and although Jon wanted a muffin I manged to resist - how good am I????
We then had a look around the shops and Jon bought some shirts in the sale and I found some nice black trousers and a lovely skirt in the sales - real bargains. On the way back to the car we stopped in at the shop where I thought I had left my cards and low and behold there they were so really pleased about that/
We then went to the DIY shop and bought an indoor plant for our shelf above the breakfast bar. I find 'hous plants' are not big here as so much grown easily in the garden their is not much choice. I did find some very 'real' looking lavender for our bathroom, the 'house plants' we will work on.
On the way home we stopped in to Sharon's and left them a poncho and a rain hood as they are both so worried about their holiday in Fiji and all the floods that have been shown on TV so it was a bit of a joke and they took it very well. I am sure they will be fine and if there was a real problem the NZ government would stop people travelling there.
We had lunch when we got back and then Jon cleaned Heather's car ready for sale and I sat in the garden and read my book - shame on me!!!
I cooked some very nice duck breasts for dinner with raspberries and ice cream and grated chocolate for pudding - yum!
After dinner Jon went to bed and I decided to go and sit in the garden with my coffee. Unfortunately, Totty found a tiny baby hedgehog and would not leave it alone and the bugs were attacking me something awful so I came inside again. I really should have used the insect repellent!!
And now it is bedtime again - bliss.

Back to work
I know it is warm and so we shouldn't complain as the UK is pretty cold right now but I would also like to see the sun!!!
I set off this morning to the Red Cross with lots of bags, old clothes Heather didn't want, magazines to give to Les and Sharon, Christmas cookie buckets that Heather bought that I really should not eat, and various things that Heather left which I think Sharon and Les might like plus my holiday photos taken at the theme parks. It was like Christmas when I got to the shop sorting it all out.
The new coordinator was there this morning and her name is Kirsty. She seems OK, a bit full of herself but a big improvement on the last one.
They have changed the children's clothes around as they have put an extra rail in and it was all a bit of a muddle so that was my job for this morning and I really enjoyed sorting it all out. I found some lovely dresses for my nephew's little girls and so cheap, even with the postage. I also found some bits for our house as it is all a little bare or should that be bear???? Bare, I think!!! I got some nice wall plates for the downstairs loo, a couple of ceramic photo frames, an oil burner and a picture for Jon's office which says 'It is not your aptitude, but your attitude, that determines your altitude' and has a picture of a man in a parachute. I think it is something the people in his office should read and digest. I also bought some plant pots for the kitchen shelf (I will look for plants for them tomorrow) just to soften it all up and make it more like a home and not a rented house!!
I was then very naughty and went to 'Wendy's sale. This is a very expensive shop in Tauranga but has the most amazing sales and the clothes are very good designer labels and I have never found, or been able to afford anything from there, until today!!! I found a lovely navy dress reduced from $489 to $99. It is an Australian designer and I just love it and what a bargain!!
I then went into Tauranga to Maggie J Shoes who has lovely European shoes and also has a sale on. I didn't buy shoes but I did buy a lovely navy leather handbag at a very good price.
All in all a good day but I did lose the birthday cards I bought and I think I will have to call Maggie J tomorrow as I think I may have left them on her counter - too excited about my handbag I think!!!!
I got home and after sorting out my bargains and putting them away I got stuck into my ironing which I have been putting off all week but time passed quickly with the help of Ellen and before I knew it Jon was home.
We had some lovely fish and chips for dinner, snapper, really fresh and lovely batter even though I only eat a little of the batter!
Heather called a little later and we had a chat. She told me the bridesmaids dresses did not fit and Kirsty was upset as she had to send them back and would lose the £82 import duty on them and she was feeling very down about it.
After the phone call I found the number for UK Customs and called them and they told me she could claim it back. Unfortunately, I ran out of Skype credit before the end of the conversation but I have emailed Kirsty and called Heather back to let her know so hopefully she can get it sorted. Thank goodness for Internet!!!!
I haven't even tried to take Tot out today.
We now have a long bank holiday weekend and the sun is supposed to come out so watch this space!!

Getting the house tidy!
Well there was no sign of the forecast sun this morning or for the rest of the day but at least it was warm.
I decided it was time to start making some phone calls to friends and family as I have not been able to since before we moved due to lack of time and then Heather was working from home which made it difficult. I used to call at night time (our night time) but with this house the sound travels upstairs much more and as Jon needs to get up for work every morning I feel bad if I am Skyping people so I will just do morning calls.
I tried Sonia but she was out, probably being very good and at the gym!! I then called Mary and we spoke for an hour an a half, we had a lot of catching up to do. Kirsty called me on the house phone while I was chatting on the PC and I said I would call her back in a few minutes and of course that didn't happen, just as well she didn't go to bed early.
I finally got to chat to her and we were over an hour on the phone. Things were not going well for my day of housework!! But it was good to catch up.
After hanging out the washing I decided to try and get Tot out for a walk by going out through the garden gate directly into the park and as there were no dogs around I thought she would be fine. And she was until we got to the far side of the park and she would go no further so we had to come back but at least we got a bit further than usual.
I spent the rest of the day cleaning and putting things away and sorting some things that Heather left and the house is looking better now. I find every time I vacuum I get a full container of fluff and dust from the carpets and really don't know where it comes from. The carpets look clean but they appear to have not been vacuumed very well. The couple before us were very old so maybe they had given up on the cleaning. I think I might have to get someone in and have the living/dinning area cleaned and see how much comes off it.
I have been trying to decide on an outfit for the wedding and as I have not seen anything in the shops I decided to go ahead and buy the suit I have seen online from a place in China. It looks lovely and if it is like the picture I will be pleased with it. I decided not to go for the dress and coat as, if the weather is hot, it might be too warm to wear. I have gone for a dress and jacket in a light crepe and chiffon material - fingers crossed.
I had a call from one of the ladies in Lions today asking if I would be President this year. They have asked me before and there is no way I will do it apart from not knowing enough about Lions I just don't want to take a role like that on as it takes us so much time. I did say that I would do the secretary job and she seems happy about that - for this year!!!
Jon came home and went out and started to clean Heather's car so we can get it on the market. She should have done it herself but she was so busy with the company re launch she ended up having no time!!
We have a long weekend coming up this weekend and they have some showjumping championships on at the racecourse so we may go up and watch them other than that we have nothing planned.
My friend Sharon and her husband are due to go to Fiji this weekend and they are not sure how it will be as they have had lots of flooding and more rain is expected this weekend. It is a shame as she has been looking forward to it for so long and asking me all about it. I hope they don't have bad weather and get evacuated as some tourists did last week.

Back to routine, I like routine!
It was so nice to go to bed in our own bed last night and be able to sleep and not worry about having to wake and go somewhere or be at an airport - bliss!
I managed to hang out the two loads of washing I did last night and after 'trying' to take Tot out, I really think she is agoraphobic, I went off to my aqua aerobics class.
I had to stop at the level crossing for a train and as I was a little late anyway, as I had to stop for fuel, I got very impatient with the train which decided to stop 'on' the level crossing and kept everyone waiting. Schools are also back this week so the traffic was heavy anyway. I arrived late for my class and it just happened to be the one teacher who only does 50 minutes anyway grrr!
It was good to be back into it again and is the first class since Christmas and I more than need them with all the eating I have done over the last two months. Time to take myself in hand, I have a wedding to go to this year!!
After class Les, Carol and I had a catch up while still in the pool and then we went for coffee with some of the other girls and had a good chat. It was so nice to be in some warm sunshine which was sadly missing in Hong Kong and has not been wonderful here so far.
We arranged to go and see the new George Clooney film next week and will have lunch first so I look forward to that.
On my way home I stopped at the supermarket and bought lots of vegetables to have a stir fry tonight with the pork loin I am going to cook.
Back home I made myself a nice salad for lunch and sat reading the paper and no TV on - bliss.
I managed to get another two loads of washing done and out - sheets and towels from Heather - and brought the first lot in. While out there I suddenly heard a cat hissing and Tot running and saw her chasing the cat down the garden and he went up into the tree and she tried to follow and as there is a lot of leaves and roots at the bottom she managed to get up a little way! Very funny. It was the cat that we don't like, the one that got in and sprayed in Heather's room when we first moved in so I was not bothered about it. It needs to realise that a dog lived here now and it can't come and go as it pleases. I then went and sat in the garden to read my book and enjoy the sun for the first time in this garden. I got onto the hammock and was enjoying the sun and Tot decided to join me and so we both ended up on the floor so I tried the sun lounger instead. It was really hot so I only lasted an hour.
I am enjoying Anne of Green Gables at the moment. It was one of the free books that came on my E reader and I am really loving it and can't put it down.
Jon came home and we had dinner and were all washed up by 8.00 and watched another episode of Coronation Street. I have so many Ellen programmes and Neighbours to watch and will need to get stuck in to some serious ironing to catch up.
We tried to take Tot out again tonight but she got to the end of the drive and then refused to move. I don't know what to do about it, maybe she is just happy running in the garden now?
