Heather is very homesick

I took Totty out for her walk and got caught in a bit of drizzle.

Spent the morning uploading photos on facebook and doing the ironing.

Jon came home and we had lunch early. Heather is looking very unhappy and looks like she has been crying. She had a call to say she didn't get the job and she is relieved as she didn't really want it as she will only be here for one year and then they would have to interview again and she felt under pressure. They have offered her another job to cover maternity leave. They have a temp at the moment so it could be hers for as long as she is here but she is not sure.

We went to the bank to get her card and although I understand how she feels, having been through it myself, crying and getting down about things will not help. She asked me if she should take the job and I have told her she should give it a try as she needs to get out and meet people.

I went to do the shopping and she stayed in the car so I rushed around and forgot most things. I haven't had to think of other people for the last two years and it is a little difficult.

By the time we got back she was a bit better and I had a chat with her and she told me she misses her friends and the time difference is difficult as she can't speak to them. I told her it would get better and not to rush things. She has decided to take the job and has been offered a very good salary so I think things are looking up. It is a shame she can't see how lucky she is, some of her friends are really having a hard time finding work and she has it handed to her on a plate.

We had dinner and watched TV and she seemed much better by bedtime.

I had a call from one of the Lions ladies today and she told me she wanted to put my name forward for Vice President in two years. I told her there was no way I would even consider it. Being chairman of Ladies Circle many years ago was more than enough for me and I just don't want the aggravation or the pressure of doing something like that again. It was nice to be asked though.

Jon picked up the new BBQ today and it is very heavy and a real struggle to get out of the car, I think we will be able to feed an army from it so I hope Kirsty and James are hungry when they get here.

Jon brought some avocados home tonight. We didn't get many from Mark last year but I am told they only crop every two years so we might be in for lots of them again.

WEATHER
Drizzle but warm, then sun 25 degrees
