We woke this morning to a beautiful sunrise which we could see from our room.
After a lovely English breakfast, which I really didn't need but had paid for, we decided to give the Eden Project a miss and head to Mevagissey.
Unfortunately,Mevagissey is closed on Mondays!!! We had paid to park in the main car park rather than try and drive down the very narrow streets. The ticket machine had a notice on saying 'if £2 coin is rejected jump up and down on the concrete and try again'. Only in Cornwall!!! We hadn't needed to use a £2 coin but we did have to pay £3 to park which is ridiculous as the car park was empty. Maybe they should have special rates for winter.
After a lovely walk around the harbour we managed to find the only place open and had a coffee.
We then put Fowey into the sat nav and drove a lovely cross country route to another hugely expensive pay and display car park which was a long way from the town but once again we didn't want to go down the narrow streets so rather than pay the £3 for the bus we walked and were glad we did as it is really lovely. We went down to the river and looked across at Polruan and then around the town and into the very pretty church. We bought a pasty for lunch and then after climbing the very steep hill got back to the car.
We drove to Moneylender Beach which is just so pretty and we sat and had lunch - pasty and a bottle of water. My sister in law later told me that the house we had admired belonged to Dawn
French. It is really beautiful and has some amazing views.
It was then time to head back to St Austell and visit Julie. It was lovely to see Baby Bella, who is like a little doll and very like her daddy, Jon's nephew, Michael. Her mum Davina was there, too and told us they are trying for another baby so that will be even more babies in the UK. Louise, Julie's daughter was also there with Erin who is so sweet and very like her mummy. So we had a really baby afternoon.
We left in time to get back to the hotel for a cream tea. You cannot come to Cornwall and not have a cream tea. It really lived up to expectations but we did only have one scone between us.
We just had time to go up to the room and have a rest before dinner!!! If I can fit it in! lol
Dinner was very nice and it was lovely to see all Jon's family. WE had a good night and everyone was very jolly. Jon's sister told us they are thinking of coming down here for a holiday which will be nice. It was a very late night!
