I managed to get Totty, slowly, around the block but not before she had done three poos!!!!! I know she is not feeling herself so could not be cross with her.
I left her in the house and hopefully she will feel better when I get back from my shift at the Red Cross.
We were very busy this morning and didn't stop. It was really hot in the shop and I was glad when it was time to go home.
Got back and Jon was already home so I was glad I had left a sandwich.
We decided that it would not be a good idea to go out tonight and leave Totty on her own so I spoke to Janice and told her we would not be seeing her.
I popped out to the tip and to buy a little charm to go in with Angela's birthday card.
When I got back I was so hot I just sat and made a cup of tea. Far too hot to take Totty out. It was still 27 degrees when Jon got home so we just sorted out our bbq and didn't take the dog out as she would not like the heat anyway.
We had a lovely dinner and sat on the deck and it was so warm.
We watched the fireworks from the Sky Tower at midnight and managed to get a photo with them on the TV at the same time. The fireworks were amazing and we think we might arrange to go up to Auckland for next yea when Heather is here.
I logged on to Skype thinking the girls might call but they didn't but my friend Mary did and we ended up talking till 2.00. It was lovely to see her new grandchildren and I am looking forward to seeing them in the flesh in just two weeks time!!! The call ended when the battery on the notebook ran out!! Jon had long ago gone to bed.

Totty went for an operation
Poor Totty wondered what she had done this morning as she was not given any breakfast. I took her out for a walk and then took her to the vets for 8.50. They said they would call when she was ready to come home.
I got back and made up my shopping list. I need to think what we want for the bbq tomorrow and we have Sandra and Ross coming over on Monday for a bbq. I decided to go to the new Pak n Save in Papamoa and that way I could go to the English butcher and buy some sausages at the same time.
I was pleasantly surprised at the new supermarket it was very roomy and not at all crowded. I then went and bought my meat. He has such a good choice of sausages something like 33 varieties and all so much nicer than the NZ sausages.
I got back and made fish finger sandwiches for Jon and I. I am trying to use up everything in the freezer so we had to make do with just two fish fingers each!!
The vet called to say I could go for Totty and when I got there they told me she had been so good and he thought she probably could have had it done without the sedation.
I got her home and she has been feeling very sorry for herself and just won't settle and I know she must be sleepy.
I had changed the bed this morning and washed all the covers so I brought them in and did all the ironing - my mum would be proud of me not having any washing or ironing on NT Eve!!!
Jon came home but Totty really didn't want to go out so I just walked her down to the bottom of the drive and then she turned round and came back.
I cooked some nice spicy lam mince with rice for dinner, there is a lot left but I think I will give it to Totty as I don't want to freeze more food.
Sounds like Totty might have finally fallen asleep, lets hope she stays that way all night!

Back to normal
I took Totty out for a quick walk as I had to get down to my class. I met Kim on the way back and she told me the children had loved the pinata.
I went off to my class and the water in the pool was so hot I was glad when the class finished. We went over for coffee and the Mount was so busy with people everywhere. I set off to go home and the traffic on the way was heavy. There was s cruise ship in port, too so lots of buses and people around.
I stopped on my way back to buy some fish for dinner.
Jon came home for lunch and we watched the cricket and when he left I phoned Margaret and invited her round for a cup of tea and a piece of Christmas cake. We chatted all afternoon sitting on the deck in the sun and it was really pleasant. She left at 5.30 and I walked back with her to give the dog a walk but it was very hot even though the TV said it was 23 it felt much, much hotter.
Jon couldn't go to the gym as they are on Christmas hours and close at 5.00 - much to his disgust so he got back just as I was getting back with Totty.
We had dinner and watched TV and it is still very warm.
I need to take Totty to the vet tomorrow at 8.30. He is going to sedate her and clean her anal glands and inject them as she is having trouble again. I hope by having it done now she will be OK all the time we are away.

A very wet day
We had a very quick walk due to the binman. Jon is not usually with me on Tuesdays and so has not seen what Totty is like when the binman is around and he found it very amusing - she hates the noise of the bins being emptied into the wagon.
We went for a coffee and found the French cafe open and it was very good.
The weather was clouding over and it looked like it was going to rain.
Bronwyn called round to pay for her duty free and stayed for a chat and it started to rain just as she was leaving.
After lunch I did ironing for the rest of the day while watching cricket.
Jon did banking and booking hotels in Derby and LA and a rental car. And it rained and rained.
WE had a meal I had prepared from the freezer so I managed to get all my ironing done - till the next load of washing!!!

Another lovely beach day
We took Totty out for a walk and only wanted to walk around the park but Totty crossed the road and headed down to Rotary Park so we thought it best to follow. Only two cars down in the car park with one of the drivers sitting on one of the benches. We passed him and said good morning and walked on to the end of the park where we sat on a bench as it was so nice there. We heard dogs barking and then a man appeared from around the corner and he had two really big dogs with him. Totty was very good and just sat and he walked past and the dogs didn't see her. He went to talk to the man on the bench and then they both disappeared into the men's loo and left the dogs wandering around.
I have heard lots of stories about 'men' meeting in Rotary Park which is one of the reasons I won't go down there through the week on my own. The men were in the loos for quite some time and so we continued along and then took the path up into the hills behind the park and fortunately the dogs didn't see us and follow. Now I am not sure what these guys were up to but I have my suspicions. What I don't understand is why, if I know what is going on down there, don't the police do something about it? And why do something like this in public? The world is a funny place. We heard their cars leaving while we were up in the hills so didn't get to see them again.
We got back and after hanging out my washing and getting our picnic ready we set off to the beach. We stopped at Tay Street Cafe for a coffee before going down on to the beach. It was really busy today and as we were walking along we heard someone shout out to us and saw Sharon and her husband, Des, sitting on the beach. After a little chat to them we carried on and set up our camp - tent, sunshade and chairs.
It was hot but not as hot s yesterday but the water was just as cold but not so many jellyfish.
We had our lunch and a little sleep and so the day slipped by - again. We stopped at the supermarket to buy some burgers to go with our sausages and chicken.
We got home and fed Totty and it had by now clouded over. After a shower we had a cup of tea and a piece of Christmas cake and then took Totty out again.
When we got back I got everything ready for our bbq and Jon cooked it and it was very good.
Our neighbours got back and saw Jon cooking the bbq on the deck and Brent told him that the kids really liked the pinata.
The forecast is for rain tomorrow so I might have to stay in and do the ironing!!!

Boxing Day !!!!
We got Totty out for her walk but only went to the top park as it was already hot.
We went out to find a coffee but the only place we found open was the bakers but it was a good coffee and we had a mince pie. Our first and probably only one.
Got the picnic sorted and off to the beach, we are getting pretty good at setting up our pitch. It was much hotter today but not too busy.
We got home about 5.00 and had a shower and a cuppa before taking Totty out.
i cooked some nice salmon for dinner which we had on the deck and we drank more than we usually do!!

Christmas Day
We had our breakfast on the deck -scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and a glass of bubbles.
We opened our presents and I was very pleased to find an eReader from Jon. Angela had given me some Korean lemon tea which looks like a jar of marmalade. Jon liked the puzzle I got for him and the frame for the photo of his mum that Christine sent over.
We then took Totty down to Rotary Park and Jon set the timer on the camera to take a photos and then ran round to stand by me. The man who looks after the park saw us and asked if we wanted him to take one but we had already managed to get one.
When we got back we got our picnic ready and after a coffee (no place open today to buy one) we set off to the beach.
It was quite cloudy on the beach but warm. We set up our tent, chairs and sunshade and were set for the day. We had salad and courgette and bacon bake for lunch followed by fresh fruit for pudding and a couple of glasses of bubbles.
When we got back we had a shower and then a cup of tea and I actually cut the Christmas cake as we didn't have any other cake to eat. I haven't cut the cake on Christmas Day for years as there is usually so much other food around.
We took Totty out and then I cooked our dinner of marinated lamb steaks and a chickpea and pasta salad with mint and it was very good. We had brandy baskets and fresh pineapple with passion fruit ice cream for pudding with a nice desert wine and cheese.
The girls came online and we had a call with them to watch them open their stockings. The call kept freezing so it was hard to keep up with the conversation but it was lovely to see them all happy.
We went to bed quite content.

Christmas Eve
After a very warm night I got up and showered and then took Totty for a walk.
I took the present to next door and left it with Flynn - his mum must have been busy and I needed to get to the shop.
The shop was slow to start and then got really busy till we closed at 2.00 but it was enjoyable with a very happy atmosphere.
I popped down to take the present to Angela but she was out so I left it with one of the other people she shares with.
I then went to the supermarket for a few last minute bits and it was busy but not like UK on Christmas Eve.
I was more than ready for lunch when I got home at 3.00.
I did some cooking and got things ready for out picnic.
We went to Janice and Roger's for his 65 birthday party. We didn't stay long as I still had to ice my cake but it was very nice to be at a drinks party, outside on Christmas Eve.
We stopped by to order fish and chips and went in to the pub for a glass of wine while they cooked it.
There was a parcel from Angela on doorstep when we got back. The card she had written was very sweet card and thanked me for helping her with her English.
After dinner I iced the cake. This has become a bit of a tradition for me and now even though I am not so busy I don't want to change it.

A nice lunch with Alison.
After my migraine yesterday I woke with a very fuzzy head this morning. I took Totty for a walk and popped in to visit Viv with a card and some chocolates. We sat and had a little chat, her house is so bright and sunny.
I then went out for a coffee and popped in to Hazel's dress shop and found a very nice woollen jumper in the sale which will be good for my trip home.
I went up to the golf club to drop a card and voucher off for Mikayla - she has been so patient.
When I got back it was just about time to go for lunch with Alison. I wished my head was feeling better!!. We went to the garden centre Decor and it was very pleasant.
When I got back I wrapped the pinata for next door.
I managed to do lots of ironing so it is nearly all done now.

Wednesday
I was up early to walk Tot before going to my swimming class.
I have to remember to move the presents from under the tree as she ripped one of Jon's open yesterday. I wold have been upset had it been one of mine as I have no idea what is in it.
The swimming pool was very warm today and we didn't even try to go in the hotter pool. I got a very sun burnt back, I forgot to put cream on!!! Carol's daughter-in-law came at the end of the class and brought her grandson, he is so sweet. I have only seen him on his blog so it was nice to see him in the flesh.
We went across for coffee but there were only five of us this week, everyone is busy.
On my way home I stopped in at SaveMart the recycled shop and bought a new costume, brown for a change and very nice for $6.
I stopped off to buy some fish for dinner and then went to the doctors surgery just in case the immigration papers were ready and they were. Just as well I did or I would have had to go back again later and collect them.
When I got back I went over to see Bronwyn and took her duty free stuff over and a card and her present. She was wrapping presents and we sat chatting and then suddenly I couldn't see half of her face and I had funny zig zags in my eyes. The last migraine I had was in Kuala Lumpur and didn't know why I was suddenly having one. I told her I would have to go and she said maybe I was dehydrated after being in the hot pool.
I got back and had lots of water to drink, made a sandwich and sat down and after about an hour the distorted vision stopped but I was left with a bad head.
After a while I felt a bit better and so sent more Christmas emails!!!

Jon finally came home as his flight was delayed.
We had some monkfish for dinner.
Alison called about lunch as I have been trying to get in touch with her. We arranged to go out tomorrow.

Tuesday
Took Totty out for her walk early before it got too hot.
Jon has gone away to Whangarei today till tomorrow.
I finally got round to some planning Christmas dinner, not before time and then made my shopping list. I had a lot of things to do so thought I would make a list of those too or I would forget something.
First stop on my way to the doctor was to take some stuff to the tip. I didn't have much but there was a long line of waiting cars with everyone having a Christmas clear out.
When I went in for my doctor's appointment he barely mentioned the blood test result. Just told me it was a little high and to watch my diet but said I didn't look like I ate lots of pies and things. He then put all the results into the computer and came up with a 2% risk of me having a heart attack in the next five years which, he said, is lower than his!!! I could have mentioned the fright I had after getting his message but I couldn't see the point. He told me he would complete the certificate for immigration when he had the chest x-ray results. I told him we had them at home and he said they should have gone to him. So I need to go and bring them back to him. I will be so glad when this is all sorted. The medical side of things alone have taken so much time. At least when it is done that will be it and we won't have to do it every two years.
I then went across to Tauranga to the dressmaker to collect two skirts that she shortened for me. I need them for UK and this lady closes for Christmas holidays. There is a very nice coffee shop that has opened opposite the dressmaker so I just had to go in for a coffee!
It was then off to buy more Christmas cards. You have to shop around to find typical NZ cards or you end up with robins and snow which is not your typical Kiwi Christmas.
Then off to the PO for stamps and to buy some paper for the printer.
I then went to the supermarket and although busy by Kiwi standards it was just like a normal UK Thursday at Tesco.
I finally got home with my shopping and put it away and was more than ready for a very late lunch. I had a call from Specsavers to say my part for my glasses was in so at least I can get them fixed on the same trip.
I then went back to the doctor with the x-rays and into Specsavers. It was only the arm that was broken and I thought they would just change that but they gave me a whole new frame. she did say she would get it on warranty but I said they were more than three years old but it was good of her to suggest it. Anyway they only cost $70 which is pretty good for new glasses and as I only wear them for five minutes at night and in the morning till I put my lens in I don't need anything better.
I took Totty out when I got home and had a chat to Kim, my neighbour, on my way back. They are going up to her parents for Christmas so it is going to be very quiet here.
I wrapped some little presents to go in the pinata for next door and wrapped the presents I had bought for Bronwyn, Alison and Viv - all chocolates from the posh chocolate shop in Tauranga.
I put marzipan on my cake so I am on shedule for a Christmas Eve icing which has become a bit of a tradition with me now!
I had my dinner and then did my blog. I must try and keep it up to date.

I told him we had them at home and he said they should have gone to him. So I need to go and bring them back to him. I will be so glad when this is all sorted. The medical side of things alone have taken so much time. At least when it is done that will be it and we won't have to do it every two years.
I then went across to Tauranga to the dressmaker to collect two skirts that she shortened for me. I need them for UK and this lady closes for Christmas holidays. There is a very nice coffee shop that has opened opposite the dressmaker so I just had to go in for a coffee!
It was then off to buy more Christmas cards. You have to shop around to find typical NZ cards or you end up with robins and snow which is not your typical Kiwi Christmas.
Then off to the PO for stamps and to buy some paper for the printer.
I then went to the supermarket and although busy by Kiwi standards it was just like a normal UK Thursday at Tesco.
I finally got home with my shopping and put it away and was more than ready for a very late lunch. I had a call from Specsavers to say my part for my glasses was in so at least I can get them fixed on the same trip.
I then went back to the doctor with the x-rays and into Specsavers. It was only the arm that was broken and I thought they would just change that but they gave me a whole new frame. she did say she would get it on warranty but I said they were more than three years old but it was good of her to suggest it. Anyway they only cost $70 which is pretty good for new glasses and as I only wear them for five minutes at night and in the morning till I put my lens in I don't need anything better.
I took Totty out when I got home and had a chat to Kim, my neighbour, on my way back. They are going up to her parents for Christmas so it is going to be very quiet here.
I wrapped some little presents to go in the pinata for next door and wrapped the presents I had bought for Bronwyn, Alison and Viv - all chocolates from the posh chocolate shop in Tauranga.
I put marzipan on my cake so I am on shedule for a Christmas Eve icing which has become a bit of a tradition with me now!
I had my dinner and then did my blog. I must try and keep it up to date.

A Christmas clean
Took Tot out for a walk but it was not very nice.walk tot
I got my washing done but not the drying as it was dull and no wind so had to use the dryer.
Thanks to the cards stuck around the house I remembered my appointment at the chiropractor. I might have trouble remembering my next one it is not till February!!
When I got back the TV aerial man arrived to fix up the TV in Heather's room so that is all ready for her now.
I did more cleaning and then Jon rang to say he was still in the meeting so not here for lunch.
We then had lots of rain for the rest of the day so no more walks in the afternoon.
For dinner we had asparagus smoked salmon and egg, one of my favourite meals.

Sunday
After a really good night and too much to drink last night it was no wonder we woke late. I got up and 9.30 but Jon didn't surface till 12.15!!!! I can't remember the last time we had so much to drink. It was a great night, lots of fun and really good food.
We were told we had to leave the restaurant at midnight as that is as late as their licence allows. We then went across the road with some of Jon's colleagues to a pub that had a group playing, lots of very young people and us! I think I finally managed to drag him away at 2.45 and we got a taxi home.
It has been far too wet to get out for a walk today so poor Totty has been inside.
I had to go out to the supermarket as I had nothing in to eat. I went to the one with an underground car park so didn't get wet. At least the farmers can stop complaining now. I just hope it gets better for next Saturday or we will have to re think our picnic.

Friday and Saturday
Saturday
After a good night's sleep we set off and drove to Mercer and stopped for breakfast. This place is famous for pork and they do a really good bacon sandwich.
The rest of the journey was uneventful though it did start to rain as we got closer to home.
Jon dropped me at the airport to pick up my car and I went to pick up our x-rays from the doctor on the way home. Jon went to buy a DVD player to go downstairs for Heather.
I made a sandwich for Jon but all I wanted was a cuppa before going off to sell baubles for the Christmas Remembrance Trees for the hospice. I did it last year with Lions and thought it a lovely idea. People write such sad messages on the labels it is very moving. The two hours passed very quickly and then I was glad to get home and have a cuppa and a rest before going out to collect Totty who was very happy to see us.
We got ready for the Genera Christmas Dinner and Jon had booked a taxi so we could both have a drink. We went to Spuntions an Italian place that Jon and I have been to before and enjoyed and it proved to be just as good and soooo much better than the place we went to last year. We had a really good night with lots of laughs and very good food. They threw us out at midnight as they are only licensed till then. So a group of us went across the road to a pub with live music and lots of young people - I felt like the oldest swinger in town!! Before I knew it, it was 2.30 and so I thought we ought to go. We staggered out and fortunately got a taxi outside and were home by 3.00. Very late by Kiwi standards but really good.

After breakfast we went and finished packing and then left our cases with the concierge and set off to visit the Chinese Gardens which are right in the centre of the city just behind the harbour. It is like a little oasis in all the noise and traffic and we really enjoyed it. Lovely Bonsai trees, lots of water, birds, fish and lizards.
We decided to walk back through Chinatown and came across a celebration for the opening of a new Jewellers shop which was a huge event for such a small shop. They had a Chinese band with drums and things and then the boys who dress like a dragon(two men one top one tail). They also had a post set up with fire crackers on it and two iceberg lettuce which we thought very strange. After waiting for a long time they finally got things underway with the dragons dancing and then reaching up to uncover the signs. There were about 10 people in the line up of owners and assistants, from what we could gather as a lot of it was in Chinese. There were lots of floral displays outside, obviously sent by well wishers. The two dragons went into the shop, I don't know why and then they came out and stood up (one man on top of another's shoulders) and then they ate the lettuce, well the dragon head did and then they showered the crowd with it. I have no idea why some sort of good luck thing I think. They then set the crackers off and they made so much noise it was unbelievable. all very entertaining and not something we expected to see.
It was now time to go and get our cases and head off to the airport. We stood waiting outside the apartments for a taxi and some drivers wouldn't go out to the airport and others were busy. Eventually one stopped with a passenger in it. He was going to the Holiday Inn near the airport, he worked there, and said he would share with us, which was very kind especially as he paid the $25 to the hotel and we should only have had to pay the bit from there, about $10 but the driver charged us $25, too but it was still cheaper than if we had gone on our own. He was a nice young guy and very chatty until we started talking about the cricket!!!
We had no holdups checking in and got through into the Koro Lounge which was quite busy as there were two United Airways flights delayed and their business class passengers also have the use of the Air NZ lounge. I was still full of breakfast so didn't need to eat and just read my book as we had nearly three hours to wait. I did eventually have a few bits to pick and a glass of bubbles. I took an apple and a banana with me just in case the food was as bad as on the way out.
The flight was called 30 minutes late as they had a slow flight across from NZ and the cleaners took a long time to clean the plane. It was a better plane as it had two, three, two for the seating and we had a two so not fat lady next to us. It was a really good flight and I watched a nice Australian film and the food was OK. The pilot made up a lot of time with a tail wind and so we had a very smooth landing after a two and a half hour flight - pretty fast across the Tasman.
I had to make sure I threw the apple and banana into the quarantine bins as you are not allowed to take anything into NZ. A shame really as I could have eaten it then.
We got through immigration quickly and phoned the shuttle bus to come and get us to go back to the hotel which took about 10 minutes.
Bed was very welcome and we booked a call so we didn't oversleep like the last time when we came back from Thailand.

Wednesday and Thursday
Thursday
We had breakfast at the same place we both had eggs and bacon.
It was very hot first thing and we went out to buy beer for Jon to give to the guys who were coming to the apartment for a meeting. (You see he does work!)
We then went to visit the Maritime Museum which is free but I didn't think it was as good as the one in Wellington but very interesting not for children though. We went to the coffee shop and had the best coffee I have ever had in Oz, they are not as good as NZ for coffee. It started to rain while we were having our coffee so we decided to catch the monorail to the shops and bought a day pass rather than a single as it works out cheaper and you can use it as often as you like.
We arrived at the main shopping area and the shops were not as decorated as i thought they would be. One shop, a bit like John Lewis, had a grotto scene in every window which was very nice. We visited The Strand which is a lovely old narrow shopping arcade and really lovely. The nee Westfield Mall, that was being built around the base of the tower when we went with Heather, is beautiful and huge.
We then crossed to Hyde Park and bought a sandwich and a drink and sat and watched the world go by.
I had to giggle when a young Chinese lad asked for directions to a street and I was able to tell him. How cool is that? Me telling somebody how to get around Sydney!!!! I was impressed.
It started to rain again, really heavy so we walked back to the monorail and just went round for a whole circuit and then it had stopped raining so we got off and went to the Powerhouse Museum which is actually built in a huge old powerhouse and is enormous and very good and very hands on for children. There was a terrible storm going on outside and we were glad we had made in before it started.
WE finished with cuppa there before catching the monorail back which was nearly another full circle, good value a day pass!!
I had a little sleep and then Jon's colleagues arrived and I went out shopping and had another trip on the monorail.
I got back about 7.30 and showered and Jon was still talking at his meeting so I sat and read in the bedroom. He didn't finish till 9.30 so we were both very hungry.
We went and had an Italian but the chicken I had was so dry I couldn't cut it, they did deduct $18 off our bill. As it was so late we couldn't find anywhere open for coffee so just went back to bed.

After a good night's sleep we went down to one of the bars below the apartments for breakfast and I had a big fruit salad and Jon had bacon and eggs.
We walked down to the ferry terminal and caught the ferry to Circular Quay and we had time for a coffee before out ferry to Manly. We were told to wait by the Harbour Master's steps for the ferry and while we were there a boat came in that looked like a speed boat, excursion type thing. I was starting to panic as I thought that was for us. Fortunately, it moved to allow our ferry to dock which was much bigger. The trip over to Manly, which is on the north side of the harbour was lovely. The Oprah Winfrey show was in town and we saw all the flags and the stage by the Opera House set up.
We arrived in Manly - so named as the man who discovered it in 1783 thought all the Aborigines were very 'Manly'. I met a nice Bulgarian girl on the ferry she has been working on the Barrier Reef and just had one day in Sydney. We went for a lovely walk along the really beautiful beach. There are lots of surf schools there and it was interesting to watch them. At the far end of the beach was a big salt water swimming pool. By the time we got back to the town it was lunch time and we found a lovely spot to eat and had a lovely table overlooking the beach. The food was a cross between Spanish tapas and Italian food, really good and washed down with a couple of beers. There were lots of young people on the beach as it was exam results day and they were all celebrating.
After lunch we went and had a lie down on the beach and Jon woke me up when it was time to go for the ferry - very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
We had caught a lot of sun and I couldn't wear the dress I planned as I had very red marks where my T shirt had been, I hope it tones down for the Genera dinner on Saturday.
We went for dinner at a fish restaurant we had seen which looked good. I had tuna steak but it was very over cooked so not the best meal we have ever had.
We stopped at a boat moored in the harbour for a coffee. It is a restaurant and had a couple of Christmas parties going on, very nice.

Kennels - airport -Sydney
I was up at the crack of dawn and showered, house sorted to go away and I was at the kennels with Totty by 8.00. As usual she didn't want to leave the car and so had to be carried again.
I arrived at the hospital for my appointment at 8.20 and spoke to Chris, the nice lady I spoke to last week and she told me to take a seat and she would have a word with Lucy the nurse. I was called in quickly and taken in to see the consultant and had a smear and the colposcopy examination followed by a chat and some explanations and was out of the door by 9.00. Pretty good when you consider the secretary told me she couldn't help. I think the chocolates for Chris and Lucy might have helped as they were very grateful.
I was so relieved all was well and nothing more to do for three months I went and had a nice coffee in the cafe at the hospital.
As I had so much time I went into Tauragna and bought a short sleeved cardigan as it was feeling very damp and I only have heavy cardigans or jackets. I then went across to the x-ray people for collect our results. Surprise, surprise they won't be ready till tomorrow so they will have to wait till Saturday when we get back.
I now had lots of time to spare before my flight so went home and pottered.
I left to catch my flight feeling very happy about things and the flight was on time, very quick, 20 minutes and not bumpy at all. So when I landed I was feeling really happy that things had gone so well.
I walked across to international departures and met Jon. We checked in and he told me a message had been left on his mobile for me to ring the doctor about my blood test results. Major panic set in as I was thinking it was serious. I managed to speak to the nurse who told me not to worry it was just my cholesterol was a little high but nothing serious and so I made an appointment to see the doctor on Tuesday.
Fortunately nothing else went wrong and after a bite to eat in the lounge our flight was called on time.
Air New Zealand are now trying to compete with the low cost airlines and it is not working so well. We had paid for an extra seat next to us so we would have more space, we should also have had the full movie pack and all meals and bar. First of all they sat a really huge lady next to Jon as she was sitting near an exit and they said she should not be there for take off. She was sooooo big and overflowed onto Jon and he couldn't even see the arm of his seat let alone put the headphones in. They hadn't allocated the full movies to us and so the whole system had to be re booted so no film during take off. As it was a bit bumpy the seat belt sign stayed on and so the fat lady could not move - nor could Jon!!! After 30 minutes into the flight he got cross. Finally the stewardess understood what he was saying about us paying for the extra seat and eventually they moved her. The food was awful and the drinks didn't come round till we had finished our meal. All in all a disaster and they need to get their act together. We have always enjoyed Air NZ and were prepared to pay the extra for the service but we won't in future. The only consolation was we were given a express ticket to get through immigration and customs at Sydney and it worked and we were out in double quick time. Not sure where the fat lady sat for landing but it was not next to us. I am sure she must have felt so embarrassed about it all having to move as she was so big and use a seat belt extension - it might make her go on a diet or at least tell the truth when you book your seat online and say you are able to sit at an exit.

When we went with Jane and Heather they wanted burgers and we always said no burger bars. Tonight we went to a bar and had the biggest burgers ever as they smelt so good and tasted even better.

A lot to sort out.
I got up early to take Totty out before Jane called me. I have so many bites on me, must be from sitting out last night.
I spent a couple of hours ironing, packing the case and doing the washing but Jane didn't call. I was sorting out my handbag and found my appointment card for the chiropractor - it was 10.35 and my appointment was for 10.20. I quickly phoned and they told me to come down. Just then Jane phoned, she had phoned when I was out with the dog but hadn't left a message. I couldn't speak to her as I had to go. Too much going on in my head at the moment and I always seem to forget my chiropractor appointment.
When I got back I put two notices on doors to remind me to go on Monday or I know I will forget again!!
Got all the washing and case sorted. Jon came home for lunch and then went off to Auckland, I will meet him at the airport tomorrow.
I finished putting all the photos in the album now I just have to write where they all are!!!
I called Viv to see how her daughter is and she told me she can't drive for 6 months, she had some sort of blackout and they don't know why, all a bit of a worry for her.
I did my nails and legs and so I am just about ready to go. I need to get the dog to kennels for 8.00 and then off to my hospital appointment. I hope I won't have to wait for long but I will need to go prepared to spend the morning there and go directly to the airport so it is going to be a very early start for me.
I have just phoned our bank in Guildford as I wrote asking for a new debit card on 1 November and haven't heard anything. They have the card sitting there waiting for collection!!!! Seems they don't read letters very well. I told them to send it to Centre Drive now as with Christmas post it might get delayed coming down here. At least I have a card now and will be able to buy things in UK.

I spent a couple of hours ironing, packing the case and doing the washing but Jane didn't call. I was sorting out my handbag and found my appointment card for the chiropractor - it was 10.35 and my appointment was for 10.20. I quickly phoned and they told me to come down. Just then Jane phoned, she had phoned when I was out with the dog but hadn't left a message. I couldn't speak to her as I had to go. Too much going on in my head at the moment and I always seem to forget my chiropractor appointment.
When I got back I put two notices on doors to remind me to go on Monday or I know I will forget again!!
Got all the washing and case sorted. Jon came home for lunch and then went off to Auckland, I will meet him at the airport tomorrow.
I finished putting all the photos in the album now I just have to write where they all are!!!

A lovely sunny Sunday
We had breakfast and then Jon watched some football and I had an online chat with Jane and we arranged to have a chat on Monday morning.
We took Tot out but just around the park today. Just as we were leaving Kirsty phoned and we had a chat to her so poor Tot had to sit and wait a bit longer. Kirsty is not well and sounds like she has caught a virus from her holiday to Centre Parks.
We went into Tauranga for our coffee and then went to the library and did the recycling on the way home.
We went to get the photos of last Christmas printed for the album so now I can get on with them. Jon thought we ought to buy a Christmas tree as the house looks bare. We went in to the Warehouse and they were on 50% off so we bought a nice 6ft, fibre optic tree and a box of red and gold decorations.
We had some of the leftover pork for lunch and it was very good.
I decorated the tree and it looks really nice all red and gold and colour coordinated.
I started the photo album, it is going to take a long time. I have so much to do. I need to get the case packed for Jon to take up to Auckland with him on Monday.
Really hot today and we had our first bbq and ate outside.

Lots of photos
We were up very early for a Saturday as we had to go and have our blood tests. We thought we would go and have breakfast when we had finished but there were so many people waiting we ended up going straight to our golf lesson.
We did bunkers today and it is really difficult to get the ball out of a bunker but it was a lot of fun trying and I did cover Jon in sand on more than one occasion!!!
We then went to spend one of our Grab One vouchers on breakfast. I had lovely muesli and fruit and Jon had poached eggs on toast and bacon and we really enjoyed it.
We went home and took Totty for her walk but as it was so hot she was a bit slow, to say the least!!!
When we got back I spent some time on the computer sorting photos out to have printed.
Jon was hungry so I made his lunch, I was still full of muesli so didn't have anything other than a cup of green tea.
We went down to Fraser Cove and did the DIY printing of the photos. There are 500 and it cost $99. We had to pick them up in an hour.
We then went to buy another photo album and then into Tauranga to the library. I needed to pick up some trousers I had ordered so Jon went off to the library and I went to get the trousers.
We then went to collect the photos and buy a cake for tea and then home for a cuppa.
We took Totty out for a quick walk around the block and it was quite windy. We saw the little puppy we saw last week and I had to chase it home again - I do wish they would take more care of their dogs, this little one is so sweet but it is going to get itself killed on the road.
We had some lovely belly pork for dinner tonight and fresh peas which I had to pod - I can't remember the last time I did that, followed by cheese and then fresh pineapple and meringue and vanilla ice cream.
I have sorted all the photos out ready to go in the albums two years of photos is a lot and I have only taken a few of what we have to give a selection. I realised I had none of Christmas last year and then spent ages trying to find them on the computer. I finally, after a search found them and copied them to my file but still don't know where they were. Back to the shop for more copies tomorrow!

It's official - our daughter is engaged
After a quick breakfast I took Totty for her walk and then went to the Red Cross. Really busy morning and I found two nice tops. I won't see Angela now till after Christmas as she will be helping her boyfriend run an Asian food stall down at the Mount for the summer weeks. I hope they do well.
On my way home I had to pick up copies of letters from doctor to go along with my medical. Not sure if they will be needed but as we are going to be in the UK we are trying to get everything as it should be and hopefully it will all go smoothly.
Jon came home for lunch and he had his medical this morning and said it was much more thorough than the medical we had in the UK.
The blood test has to be fasting blood so we will need to go tomorrow at 7.30 before golf.
There are lots of forms to fill in - again.
Jane put on FB her engagement so everyone knows now.
I had a quick word with Heather but didn't have long to chat.
I went off for my medical. The doctor and nurse were both English! I then went for my chest x-ray so hopefully it will all be OK. the doctor doesn't think my gynae problems will be a problem.
I went shopping for T shirt to go with my skirt but still can't find the right shade.
Got home and had a nice rest and a cuppa and then walked Tot.

A lot of overnight rain.
When we woke up it looked like it had rained a lot. I took Totty out after breakfast and then wrote some Christmas letters which I need to get off.
I hung my washing out and then went out to do my shopping, stopping for a coffee on the way and also posting my letters.
Got back and Jon was late coming home so I had to wait for him as I was doing scrambled eggs.
When he came home he told me he had made an appointment for my medical for Friday and I need some photos. As we are away all next week he wants to get all the medicals and things in so we can get them off before the holiday.
He went back to work and I went to meet Angela and we went into Tauranga and I had my photo taken, not very nice but it will have to do. We then went and sat in the park for a chat before I dropped her off to meet her boyfriend.

So much needed rain and some good news!!!!
It was wet first thing so Totty didn't get a walk
I had a chat to Rob and Bina and saw Dave (our plant they are looking after). He looks very well and has grown a lot.
I had to rush off to my class and got there when it was dry after a lot of rain here and then it started there so we got quite wet.
We went off for coffee and had a chat and from there we went straight on to have our Christmas lunch which was very nice.
I then went to do a bit of shopping and to try and get my glasses repaired. They will send for a part but not sure how long it will be.
I had an email from Jane and the secret is out, she is engaged to Jason. He called Jon and I about four weeks ago to ask for permission so I have been bursting since then to tell Simone. So happy for them. He is a lovely guy and I hope they will be very happy.
I got back and then went over to have tea with Alison and Bronwyn which was nice as I haven't seen them for ages. We hope to sort out a lunch one day before Christmas.
I then took Totty for a walk and came back and cooked dinner.

Another busy day
I took Totty out for a quick walk and met a nasty dog. A woman was putting her rubbish out and he had walked down the path with her. Fortunately she saw me just as he did and she managed to grab him but he was really vicious. I have never seen him before and I don't want to see him again.
When I came home I finally managed to get hold of the secretary and she was her usual helpful self - NOT. She told me she couldn't change my appointment and nor could she say if I would be out on time so it looks like I won't be going to Sydney with Jon.
I then went off to my keep fit class and stayed for a coffee. It was my last class till February as I can't go next week as I have my hospital appointment.
After class I went to buy some chocolates to put in the pinata for the children next door.
Finally our police check certificates arrived in the post today so we can now move on with our residence permits.
When I got home I phoned the receptionist at the outpatient's department and told her my problem and she was so nice and said I shouldn't have to miss out on a trip to Sydney. She spoke to the clinic nurse and she said I should get there for 8.30 and she would get me in first so there should be no problem of me getting the plane. I really don't know what the secretary's problem is, she is such a miserable woman. Never mind all sorted now.
Heather finally managed to get hold of me and we chatted for an hour and Jon came home and managed to have a chat with her too.
After lunch I washed my car as I had so many spiders webs on it and I also cleaned the inside.
I then vacuumed and washed all the floors and did the bathrooms all in 26 degrees. I was very hot so had a shower and when I was getting dressed I realised I had missed my chiropractor appointment. I had to ring and apologise and now need to go on Thursday.
I saw on the news that Tauranga was the warmest place in NZ this spring - again!
I took Totty out again and then came back and had an early dinner as I had a Lions meeting. I picked Janice up and we went over to Wendy's house. She had the most amazing views from her house. She has a small swimming pool, lovely deck are and a beautiful house. I would never get anything done, I would sit all day looking at the view.
Good meeting and people brought cakes and slices and we had a lovely supper. Late night too, it didn't finish till 10.00. I won't see most of them now till February - wow!

A lot of ironing
I had a lovely chat to Sonia this morning. It was lovely to catch up with her, she is going to organise an evening out with some of the surgery girls when I go home.
I then took Totty out for a walk before it got too hot.
I spent the rest of the morning sending an email to one of Jane's friends. Jane had told me she was planning a trip and needed to know where to go. I typed a huge email with lots of info about NZ. This evening I got a reply to say she was actually going to Barcelona!!!! Jane didn't mention that! Not to worry it will help a friend of hers or is actually coming down here.
I have been trying to contact the gynae secretary as I have an appointment next week at 11.30 and if I am finished in time I could get to the airport to catch the 1.10 flight to Auckland and meet Jon and we could go to Sydney for three days. I have left a message for her to call me to change the time of the appointment or to say if she thinks I will be out in time. So far she hasn't got back to me. She is useless, I have so much trouble trying to get through to her. I will have to try again tomorrow. No doubt she will call when I am at my class!

Brent, my neighbour brought me some lovely snapper fish round that his mother in law had caught so instead of the planned lamb we had lovely fresh fish, it was so good.

A busy Sunday
Up early cos of the dog scratching. After breakfast we took her for a walk.
We went out for early coffee and popped into the supermarket for a paper.
Got home and got ready for Red Cross lunch at Daniel's in the park. It was a nice lunch and Bianca announced that she was pregnant, but Les had already told me at the start of the lunch. So Les will be busy in May and June next year with both her children pregnant.
Got home and made a salad to take to Les' for bbq.
We had a lovely afternoon/evening. Bianca's house has a lovely garden and she showed us the spot where Les' house will be built in time for her to take care of the baby. We met Sharon's husband and Les' boyfriend, Carol was there, too and we had a good bbq and it was a really nice afternoon.
We got home about 9.00 and I was very tired we watched Americas got talent and then went to bed.

A lovely Christmas afternoon tea
We woke early as the power had gone out and we had a lot of rain last night so the clocks were flashing and we didn't know what time it was and once you are awake that is it. It was only 7.10!!!
We took Totty for her walk and then went to golf. It was a really good lesson but we need to get out and play some holes. Mikaela says we are more than able.
We then went for our coffee and muffin.
We went to buy some white wine as we were down to our last three! Jon thinks I might need it soon to calm me down!
Our first Christmas card arrived today from Jon's old Friend John and he is a grandad for the second time.
We had lunch and Jon did the garden, just tidying leaves.
I went over to Papamoa for tea with the family of the little boy, Reece, we - Lions - bought a walker for. He is 11 but only looks about six or seven but a lovely little boy.
It is a lovely house and the white tree was really pretty all decorated in turquoise and lime green and silver and the presents under the tree in the same colours.
Reece gave us a demonstration of him walking in his walker and he looks so pleased with himself. We then had tea and she put on a lovely spread and the Christmas cake was lovely.
On my way home I went to the English butcher and bought some sausages and a loin of lamb to stuff with feta for dinner.
They have put up and filled the swimming pool next door and it is a bit further away I just hope they don't have the pump on all night like last year. I will have to say something if they do as we have to close our bedroom window - fingers crossed they don't, I would hate to fall out with them.

A mad day for the post
Jon left early to go to Auckland and after breakfast I took Totty for a walk before going to the Red Cross which was very busy.
I left the shop and went straight into Tauranga for more Christmas cards. By the time I got home it was 2.00 and I needed to get Totty to the vet for 3.30 so had to write the cards quickly and get them in with the parcel to post before I went to the vet as the last post is 4.00. I was so busy and didn't get time to eat lunch.
I had a long wait in the PO as a lady was sending parcels and the postmaster was writing the bags for her as she has problems with her eyes and then she was packing them and he was chatting and looking out of the window and I was getting in areal panic as I had to leave the dog in the car and it was really hot. Eventually he sorted it and I left.
When I got to the car, even though I had left the windows open she was panting and sitting on the floor which she never does, poor thing.
We made it to the vet on time and he cleaned her anal glands again - it is only three weeks since we had it done. He says if it happens so soon again he will have her in and clean them and inject them as they are a little swollen so there might be an infection, poor little dog.
Got home and finally had my lunch at 4.00!
I took Totty for a walk and was surprised to see Jon home early, I thought he was coming back on the late flight.
Had our fish and chips, very good now we have it crumbed instead of batter and I like it better.

I left the shop and went straight into Tauranga for more Christmas cards. By the time I got home it was 2.00 and I needed to get Totty to the vet for 3.30 so had to write the cards quickly and get them in with the parcel to post before I went to the vet as the last post is 4.00. I was so busy and didn't get time to eat lunch.
I had a long wait in the PO as a lady was sending parcels and the postmaster was writing the bags for her as she has problems with her eyes and then she was packing them and he was chatting and looking out of the window and I was getting in areal panic as I had to leave the dog in the car and it was really hot. Eventually he sorted it and I left.
When I got to the car, even though I had left the windows open she was panting and sitting on the floor which she never does, poor thing.
We made it to the vet on time and he cleaned her anal glands again - it is only three weeks since we had it done. He says if it happens so soon again he will have her in and clean them and inject them as they are a little swollen so there might be an infection, poor little dog.
Got home and finally had my lunch at 4.00!
I took Totty for a walk and was surprised to see Jon home early, I thought he was coming back on the late flight.

A nice walk around the Mount
Had a good night and Tot only woke once!
I took her out for a longer walk this morning and after a bit of dragging I won and she walked OK.
I then went to meet Joan at the Mount and we had a lovely walk around it and a nice chat, it has been a long time since we met. We then went for a coffee and sat talking till 12.15. She has invited Jon and I over for a drink before Christmas.
Got home and was going to have lunch and then do my shopping but started to watch the Remembrance Service for the Pike River miners and it was so moving, I spent most of the afternoon crying, poor people.
I did finally get out and go to the supermarket and get my shopping, I didn't need much as I am going over to the English butcher this weekend for some meat and sausages - yummy.
I bought a Father Christmas pinata for the children next door and I will fill it with chocolates for them, I think they will like it.
Got back and then took Totty out for a quick walk before sorting out the parcel of stocking fillers for the girls and all my Christmas cards, I need to buy more. I will have to do it tomorrow as I want to get it in the post.
Jon came home, very tired, he has to fly up to Auckland tomorrow, seems to live on planes at the moment.
We had some lovely asparagus and smoked salmon and a poached egg for dinner.

First Day of Summer
Jon left early to get his 6.50 flight to Auckland then on to Nelson for a meeting and then back across to Wellington tonight before coming home tomorrow evening - good for the air miles.
I took Totty round the block but she really didn't want to walk. I gave her a deers ear as a birthday treat.
Went to my class, the pool felt a bit chilly when we got in but it soon warmed up. Went across for coffee after the class and one of the ladies asked us all if we would like to have a Christmas lunch next week. Of course, we all said yes!!
Les invited Jon and I to her house for a bbq after the Red Cross party on Sunday.
Got home still no police check certificates yet, three weeks now. I sent an email to the girls to check if they had been sent there by mistake.
After lunch I went to meet Angela and we went and sat in the Elms garden for our chat but had to find a seat in the shade as it was too hot.

Totty's bath time
I took Totty out for a walk around the block before I went to my keep fit class.
A good class but I was so hot, partly due to my sun burnt forehead and partly due to the weather!! Nice coffee and chat after the class.
I then went to the supermarket and bought more salad, we eat so much of it these days.
Back home I hung the washing out and did a bit of housework before Jon came home for lunch. Still lots of debate as to when he can get over to Sydney all the more complicated as I need to be here for my hospital appointment on 14 December.
I bathed the dog after lunch and no fleas came off her so hopefully we are on top of it now. she has got a very itchy tummy thought and rubs it along the floor and I have had to put cream on it.
I then baked a boiled fruit cake and put it in the oven at 2.50 and thought Oh it will be out at 4.50 and then I panicked as I remembered my chiropractor appointment. I had to call and they changed it to 4.30 for me!!!
The cake looks a bit solid so we will see what it is like when cool.
I had a good massage at the chiropractor and then came back but it was too hot to walk Totty so I caught up with Neighbours and did my nails!!
Took Tot out but she would not walk far and as I was dragging her I decided to come back.
Jon came home just as I was coming in and we sorted out his things for tomorrow - he has a 6.50 flight to Auckland and then down to Nelson for a meeting then back across to Wellington in the evening where he is staying overnight before coming home on Thursday. A lot of flying.
He brought all our flight information home and tickets - I am getting really excited now.
Nice pork chops for dinner with vegetables.
We tried the cake with our bedtime coffee - Hmmm a bit like a scone really but not bad. I need to do some baking for the Youth Camp in December so I will cut it up and use it for that. it all gets frozen anyway so I am sure it will be fine.
I hope Totty has an 'un scratchy' night tonight!!!

Housework again
So hot last night Tot did not sleep - she needed her covers!!
We have rain??? That was not forecast so no walk this morning and I had to use the dryer for the clothes.
I did lots of cleaning, cupboards, blind etc. Then wrapping presents to send to the girls for their stockings.
The man I called about the aerial came and says it will be $220 but first we will need to ask Seleena.
Managed to get Totty out for a walk and then did my ironing.
After dinner I managed to stay awake and nearly caught up with my blog - nearly

Santa Parade
We were up early and went for a walk with Totty before it was too hot. Very warm down in Rotary Park.
After packing a picnic we set off to have breakfast at the Swiss Chalet. I had the muesli with fruit and yogurt and Jon had the hash stack and both were very good.
We then went for a walk around the town and found a spot sitting on the roadside to view the parade. It was really hot and my feet got quite red as I had no put any cream on. The parade was very good and I felt sorry for Santa in his red suit.
We then went back to the car and headed down to Tay Street Beach. It was a beautiful day to be on the beach and I was surprised to find the water was not cold once you had been in for a few minutes - not that I went in deeper than my ankles.
We had a nice picnic lunch and stayed for about two hours before going to the supermarket to buy some salad things and then to take an indoor aerial back that Jon had bought to try and get the new TV he bought for Heather to work. We are going to have to get a man in to see if he can sort it out.
Back home I had a nice cup of tea after a cool shower. We then took Totty out and it looked like we were in for a storm but nothing much happened apart from Totty panting around.
Jon fired up the barbie and we had a lovely dinner. The children from next door brought us some birthday cake as it was Petra's birthday, she was nine. Heather would love it as it is lollie cake.
I am more than ready for bed tonight. I had an email to say we had raised nearly sixteen thousand dollars for the book sale which is six thousand up on last year so a really good effort.

The Book Sale
I was up at 6.30 to get to the book sale for 7.45 and as last year lots of people waiting to get in.
The book sale was very busy all morning. I was glad they asked me to go into the smaller shop with the children's books, puzzles and DVD. Some children bought 50 or more books.
My coffee break was very welcome and we were allowed to use yet another empty shop and there were lots of cakes and slices, all homemade by members to tuck into with our coffee. Then back to work.
My lunch break was a pie, chicken Camembert and cranberry, from the National Award Winning Pie Shop and it was very, very good.
Then back to sell more books. It really didn't stop all day.
I left to go home at 4.30, Angela arrived just before we left, she had got lost.
I had a well earned cuppa when I got home.
Jon had bought a new TV for Heather's room!!!!
We took Totty for a walk.
Jon tried to make mojitos but they were not good so we had gin fizz. He will try again, I think they were not sweet enough.
We had a nice easy dinner duck with red wine so not too much work.
By the time I got to bed I was very tired.

Summer is here.
I managed to get up and have breakfast and get Totty out before going to the shop. Not that Totty enjoyed her walk - again. I am not sure what has happened in the street but she won't walk over the grass and as all the pavements are edged with grass it makes a walk with her very difficult and I end up picking her up to carry her across it or walking to a car slope. There is no way she will be dragged across, her collar nearly comes over here head if I do!!!
Off to the shop and fight my way through the major roadworks that have been going on in 15th Avenue for weeks and probably still have weeks to go. They are widening the road by taking part of the pavements away and it is causing chaos.
Work, once again, was busy but we all enjoyed it and I took some photos of us as a group. A man came in and bought some shorts and kept them on just bringing me the ticket to pay for them. He then asked if we had any belts but we only had ladies so he went off to the Salvation Army shop, just down the road, to buy a belt - he walked out holding his shorts up!!! So funny. Angela told us her boyfriend had found a hedgehog and is keeping it in a box as a pet - they don't have hedgehogs in Korea. I told her they must let it go as it needs to be free, I hope she does.
Got home and had lunch and then when Jon had gone back to work I wrote a long email to my friend, not sure when I will get a reply as life seems to be so much busier in the UK than here.
I went over to the book sale rooms as we had a friends and family hour when we could buy what we wanted. I manged to grab some good DVDs and CD's and some English crossword books for Jon, a Sudoku game and some Wasjig puzzles for Jon.
Jon and I took Totty around the block this evening, we didn't need to cross any grass so she was fine.
We had good fish and chips tonight followed by the rest of the strawberries - yummy.
Need to get to bed early as I need to leave for the book sale tomorrow at 7.45!!!! I must be mad.

Final haircut with Jodie
Took Totty out for her walk and met Bronwyn and Uppy. Let Tot off in the park and as there was another retriever there Bronwyn let Uppy off (if there are no other dogs around he tends to run away and as Tot shows no interest in playing with him she doesn't count). Totty decided to race off after them and had a really good play, something she hasn't wanted to do for ages. She was funny when they got too mad and started barking at them as if she was telling them to calm down. It looked so funny, her being so small and sorting out two big dogs.
As the book room is all sorted I didn't need to go over there this morning as planned so had a morning in. Viv came round and brought me three boxes of hair dye that she brought back for me from her six month trip to UK. she couldn't stay long but will come round another time to have a chat.
Heather phoned for a quick chat and told me she had a nice birthday and that she had picked up the boots from the PO and both her and Kirsty liked them, Jane will collect hers when she can. So glad they fit after all the expense!
I had an early lunch and then went over to the Mount to have my last haircut with Jodie before she moves to Oz. As she has moved out of her house she is working in a salon and so I was able to meet Dana, who will now cut my hair
I decided to go and do some Christmas shopping at the Mount and bought some nice gifts and things to take back with us to the UK - I spent a lot of money. Heather allows us to think about Christmas now her birthday is over.
Went to do my shopping on the way back and in to Specsavers to see if I could get my glasses fixed. Unfortunately, all the opticians need to send them away and I can't do without them so it looks like I will be doing a 'Jack Duckworth' for some time yet!
I bought some strawberries on the way home from a roadside van and they are so good. One of them was bigger than a Kiwi fruit!!
Had a cuppa as soon as I got home as I was very thirsty after all that shopping. I fed the dog and then we went out for a walk but it was really warm and she would not walk far.
Cooked spahetti sauce for dinner, we haven't had that for a long time and we had strawberries to follow.
Watched the final of Australian X Factor. I had my reservations at the beginning but it has been better than the UK one. Not so much drama and press coverage and no sad stories to get the sympathy vote. The results show is tomorrow night.

A sad day for new Zealand
Took the dog for her walk before I went swimming as I knew it would be too hot later on. Judith, who has been coming to the class for the last three months is leaving to go back to Christchurch. She has been here to help her daughter who has had a baby. She thinks they might buy a second house here so she can come and go as she likes.
I went for coffee but didn't stay late as I needed to get back to speak to Heather for our planned phone call for her birthday which was nice.
I made lunch but no Jon so I ate mine, he called to say the board meeting ran late and so he would go and buy a sandwich.
I went out to meet Angela and we enjoyed our chat again.
I got home and made the Christmas cake which smells lovely.
Sadly there has been a second explosion and all 29 miners are dead. I just hope they died in the first blast as it would have been horrible for them to be down there and hope to be rescued.

I just don't have time to think
Too wet for a walk.
I had a quick phone call from Heather to make arrangements to speak when she has more time!!
Off to keep fit, Really good class. We had a silly game of passing bean bags to each other while walking around the room in different directions, we were like kids at school again and had such a laugh. I stayed for a coffee and a chat and one of the ladies I know was telling me about her husband who had a melanoma removed from his neck a few weeks ago and has had to have more of the area removed. It was originally a tiny little mole and she had to force him to see the doctor. They have now found a spot on his lung, too. Cases of skin cancer are so high here and such a worry for people.
I then went to the supermarket and to a dress shop where I had seen a nice summer dress which I tried on and bought. By the time I got home it was gone 12.00 so I had to rush to get lunch ready as I had to pick Janice up at 1.30 to go to the book rooms - only four more days and it will be over!!! and we can all get our lives back. Took some of my disastrous cookies over and they went down well.
It was then off to the chiropractor for another back scan and it is all looking good so I am down to once a week now. My neck is much better but still not a lot of movement in my arms. Janice waited in the car for me and then I took her home.
I quickly took Totty out and called in to get the cake tin from Linda for my Christmas cake and she kept me chatting and I was trying to get away.
Finally got home fed Tot and then into the shower as my hair was a mess and the books always make me feel dirty.
I did very well as I left the house at 5.40 having showered and done my hair and prepared the vegetables for Jon's dinner and set the table.
Our meeting at Lions was OK. The speaker was an English lady who runs a rehabilitation centre for birds and hedgehogs and is passionate about them. So much so she hasn't had a holiday for 23 years, more fool her I say. I am sure she could get somebody to cover. I think she likes to tell everyone about it though. The meal was not brilliant and quite cold, I think they need to speak to the management.
Was home by 9.40 and ready for my coffee.

It was originally a tiny little mole and she had to force him to see the doctor. They have now found a spot on his lung, too. Cases of skin cancer are so high here and such a worry for people.
I then went to the supermarket and to a dress shop where I had seen a nice summer dress which I tried on and bought. By the time I got home it was gone 12.00 so I had to rush to get lunch ready as I had to pick Janice up at 1.30 to go to the book rooms - only four more days and it will be over!!! and we can all get our lives back. Took some of my disastrous cookies over and they went down well.
It was then off to the chiropractor for another back scan and it is all looking good so I am down to once a week now. My neck is much better but still not a lot of movement in my arms. Janice waited in the car for me and then I took her home.
I quickly took Totty out and called in to get the cake tin from Linda for my Christmas cake and she kept me chatting and I was trying to get away.
Finally got home fed Tot and then into the shower as my hair was a mess and the books always make me feel dirty.
I did very well as I left the house at 5.40 having showered and done my hair and prepared the vegetables for Jon's dinner and set the table.
Our meeting at Lions was OK. The speaker was an English lady who runs a rehabilitation centre for birds and hedgehogs and is passionate about them. So much so she hasn't had a holiday for 23 years, more fool her I say. I am sure she could get somebody to cover. I think she likes to tell everyone about it though. The meal was not brilliant and quite cold, I think they need to speak to the management.
Was home by 9.40 and ready for my coffee.

Housework
Well it is Monday again so that means washing, washing, housework and ironing.
I did manage to get all the fruit in to soak for the Christmas cake.
After lunch I made cookies to take with me to the book room tomorrow. The recipe said 650 grams of chocolate buttons!!! I had a terrible job trying to get them to stay in the dough!!! Seemed like there were too many buttons and not enough mix. I managed to get them done but they would not win any prizes for looks but they did taste good. I sent and email to the magazine asking them to check the quantities for me.
It was too wet for a walk.
It is very sad about the miners who are trapped, it must be awful for the families.

Sunny and warm 24 degrees, big rain shower in the late afternoon but still warm.

Rain at last
Took Totty for her walk to Rotary park but she does struggle up the hill now.
We just had time for a quick coffee before Jon's haircut. I wandered around the shops and bought the 'Santa' gift for Lions party.
I spent the rest of the day sorting photos to get ready to put into an album of our two years here. I want to take it home and then if anyone wants to see it they can.
Jon spent the afternoon sorting the TV for Heather's room. We took the one from our bedroom which we never use down to her room but it is such a big old thing it nearly fills the room and it nearly killed us getting it down the stairs. We will have to have a think about it and see what we can do.
We had a stir fry for dinner.

A wet day
No golf today as it was too wet, we couldn't even see across to the bypass for the heavy mist.
We managed to get Tot out for a quick walk and then went for a coffee.
We went shopping for photo frames as Jon wants to put a photo of the girls in his office.
We bought some sushi for lunch and it was really good.
We went up to the golf club after lunch and we hit balls on the range. I did really well and I think I might be ready for a round soon.
After a cup of tea we took Totty for her afternoon walk.
I cooked roast chicken for dinner.

Rain this morning and overcast for the rest of the day but very warm and humid 18 degrees tonight and 22 during the day.

A Really Good Show
I walked Tot before going to the Red Cross and it is still very humid. The shop was, as usual, very busy. Les came in early so that she could see me, nice to have her back, she brought me two little plates from S Africa and a case to put my specs in. She has had her hair cut in a bob and it looks lovely but she doesn't like it.
Got home late for lunch and Jon was just home, too.
I answered a lot of email and spent far too much time on the computer - I wonder how the time flies by.
I took Totty put for her walk and went round to see Margaret, the noisy neighbours are back and they were out making a lot of noise till very late last night. I hope we are not going to have a repeat of last year.
We went for dinner to the Italian and it was very good.
We then went to the theatre to see Peter Powers show. It was so funny I laughed till I cried and so did Jon. Mike and his girlfriend Bob were there, too. The show was brilliant and if he ever comes here again we would go and see him.
There was a shower of welcome rain on the way home but it wasn't much.

A busy Thursday
I was up early today as I needed to get to the book room. Took Totty out for a walk but it was slow, I don't know what has got into her, she is getting lazy.
I was at the book room till 1.00 lots of walking up an down and sorting books.
When I got home there was a message from Heather about the boots and saying they had to pay £35 duty, these boots are becoming very expensive!
I had lunch and then a rest and caught up with some TV.
I had my chiropractor appointment this afternoon and then went to the supermarket.
Jon called, well it was actually Mike who spoke, from Matamata to say he would be back at 8.15 so I waited for dinner
We watched the X factor and I manged to stay awake.

Overcast to start and once the sun came out really warm 24 degrees

A very hot day
I was up early, washing out and Tot walked before swimming as it is cooler first thing for the dog.
Jon is off to Auckland again till tomorrow.
Swimming was really hot in the pool, Les couldn't go, nor could Carol.
We went over for coffee and had our usual couple of hours chat.
Got home and put more washing out to dry.
Met Angela for her class. we went to the Rose Garden and she was asking me questions about the Royal Family, she thinks it is wonderful to have princes and princesses.
Popped into the Red Cross and found some nice cropped trousers. I think I must have got rid of some of mine as I am a bit short of them.
Got home and was so ready for a cuppa. I made a cake, apple and walnut loaf, to take to the ladies at the book room tomorrow, smells good.
By the time I walked Tot it was late.
I cooked some fish and had it with a salad for my dinner.

Cinema again!!
Went to keep fit and saw the very nice photos that Diane took. She will get some copies for us.
We had coffee and a chat and then I went to the supermarket to buy some orange juice and bananas. I then went to the PO to post Heather's birthday present.
Got back and took Totty out for her walk, very warm and she did a lot of puffing and panting.
I had an early lunch as I was going to the book rooms to sort more books followed by an appointment to the chiropractor. My back feels much better since I started, my neck is not right yet but one thing I have noticed and that is the reflux problems I had with pain in my chest and right shoulder - I haven't had it since I started the sessions - coincidence???
Took Totty for a walk and saw Bronwyn she told me her daughter is pregnant and due in June but not feeling very well.
I met Jon as I was coming back. He was coming home early as we were going to the cinema but I didn't expect him to be so early.
Got changed and were out to the cinema at 6.00. I had a glass of wine and Jon had an ice cream. The film was good but slow more like a TV film for a Sunday afternoon.
We picked up a Domino's pizza on the way home and we were really hungry.

What a lot of housework.
I was up early and got my washing on before I had breakfast.
F1 was on and as it was the last race Jon wanted to watch it and so for the first time was late for work!!
I phoned Bianca to ask if she would like me to go in and sort out some jewellery but Les answered so I was really surprised and we had a chat.
I was really good for the rest of the day and did major housework and got all of the house done and all my washing and ironing - I feel really good now.
Tot didn't get a walk till late when the rain stopped, she didn't want to walk and I had to pull her along for part of the way. I met Viv just as I was getting back, she is back from UK and was off to sort out the re connection of her phone and register at the doctors so we will catch up later.
I took the dress I found at the Red Cross to Kim and she really liked it and is happy for me to look for other things for the children.
We had some nice asparagus and smoked salmon for lunch - a bit posh for a Monday but very good.
Took Tot out for her walk but she seems to be feeling the heat a bit.
I was very tired by bedtime but have a very clean house

A relaxing day
Chat on FB with Jason for a few minutes while Jon watched F1 before taking the dog for a walk which was very slow, she seems to be getting old.
We went up to Gate pa for coffee and then across to the DIY shop to return the director's chair and get the deck chair we had paid for.
It has been the Flower Festival in Tauranga for the last week and there have been lots of gardens open to the public. We went to look at the chapel at the Elms house which is the oldest house in Tauranga and was the home of a missionary. The flowers were lovely and we looked inside the house which was decorated for Christmas. We had to get out as there was a tour going through but I managed to get some photos.
It was then onto one of the big car showroom to see the flower arrangements done by people from all around the Bay. They were really lovely with some very unusual flowers.
We stopped at the tip on our way back home for lunch.
We read the papers and had a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
I made a lovely pudding for dinner - plum mousse and it is very tasty.
After a cuppa we took Totty for a walk but she didn't want to go far so we were back soon.

A Real Scorcher of a Day
Up early to get Totty out before our golf as we thought it would be too hot for her after the lesson and it would have been. I think the vet must have hurt her bottom yesterday as she seems to be having trouble going to the loo.
We hit balls on the range and it is so peaceful out there, we did quite well, too.
We then went to our usual place for coffee but had to sit under the shade as it was so warm.
We went to buy some spray for around the outside doors and windows as we are getting a lot of cockroaches coming in. We decided to let Jon's company come and do it but we don't want inside doing.
While we were at the DIY shop Jon spotted a deckchair and decided to buy it for the deck, I have the lounger to sit on he only has the chairs from around the table.
We then went to the supermarket to buy him a steak as I am off out tonight to my keep fit class party. We then went into Tauranga and I bought a few bits to send to Heather for her birthday.
There was also a perfume and makeup sale on for the weekend in one of the empty shop units. I had been told they had some good offers so we went along. Handbags were not allowed so I had to leave mine at the entrance security just taking out my debit card for anything I might want to purchase, all very odd. I was then given a plastic bucket to put my shopping in. I bought two bottles of nail polish and some perfume all very much reduced. it was really busy and not Jon's idea of fun. Apparently they had been queueing to get in the day before!
I had bought some nice Merlot wine at the supermarket the other day, it was really cheap and turned out to be very good so we went back to buy more.
Amazing what you can get done when you make an early start but by now we were hungry so went home for lunch.
It was so hot we decided to stay home and sat on the deck reading. I gave some of the two boxes of Kiwi fruit that Jon brought home last night to our neighbour.
After a cup of tea I had a shower and got ready for the dinner/dance. My new dress looks very nice on. I picked Margaret up and we went to the Citizens Club. There weren't that many from our club which was a shame but there were other people there. I think a lot of our ladies are on their own and don't like to come out at night even though it isn't dark till 8.30.
The meal was very nice. I chose the fish stack which was scallop fritter and fried fish topped with smoked salmon and as much veg and salad as you could eat, really nice menu with lots to choose from.
After the dinner Diane's brother (class leader) has a group and he sang and everybody danced but proper danced, like ballroom stuff. It was like being at an old fashioned wedding but good fun and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and was sitting with some very nice people.
I got home about 10.00 so not late. Unfortunately Jon had had a noisy night as our neighbours had fireworks which of course set Totty off and Jon had to close the door so he was not in the best mood. But our neighbours don't know the dog hates fireworks and you can't stop people having them - never mind.
