Wow this is the first time I have been up to date with my blog since I went to the UK. I must try and keep it up to date even when we go to Vanuatu or I never catch up.
It was so cold this morning but then it is the first day of winter tomorrow. The weathermen say it has been the hottest May since records began so we shouldn't really complain. I will have to stock up with wood though. I really miss central heating and so does Heather.
I took the dog out this morning but it was a fast walk as it is bin day and she doesn't hang around.
I went to keep fit and stayed for a chat and a coffee. Viv wasn't there so I will give her a call to check she is OK.
I got home and showered and then hung out more washing. I then wrote all the June birthday cards and wrapped a parcel of baby clothes for baby Matthew.
I made lunch and Jon and Heather came home and we watched Come Dine With Me - I love that programme. Jon got his bonus cheque today which is pretty nice so he will need to get that to the bank.
I went out to the post office this afternoon as I needed to post Jason's card. I only just realised his birthday is on Saturday so I think the card might be late. Birthdays at the beginning of the month always catch me out.
Took Tot out and she was happy to walk this afternoon so we managed a bit further.
I did some ironing when I got back and made my appointment for my routine mammogram on 14 June.
My friend Les called to tell me the hot pools are closed as they have a leak. She had read it in the paper so it was good of her to call or I would have gone along for my 9.00 class tomorrow. We have decided to walk up the Mount instead. Much harder work than doing a water aerobic class I think. But I want to lose a a few pounds for our holiday so it will be good.
Heather came home and we went for our walk around the streets. I can walk much faster with her and no dog as she does not stop to sniff!!!
Cooked a nice dinner tonight leek, potato and bacon bake. I put some chorizo in as Jon likes a bit more meat and it was really nice and very low fat and even Heather enjoyed it!!! Shock horror!!
And now I am off to bed as I will need all my energy for tomorrow's walk.
WEATHER
REALLY cold this morning but sunny later and really warm.

I think it might be winter
We all woke to a cold house this morning and it would have been nice to stay in bed!
After breakfast and Jon and Heather left for work I called my sister for a chat and to catch up on how baby Matthew is doing.
I then went to get Totty from the kennels, the house is very quiet without her. She seemed fine and not as tired as she usually is when she comes back from kennels.
I did a couple of loads of washing and I then went out to do a supermarket shop.
Got back in time to make lunch for Heather and Jon.
Spent the afternoon putting things away and bringing washing in and folding it up.
I took Tot out for a walk but she wouldn't go far as she heard some children. I really think she is becoming agoraphobic!!
I prepared the dinner and put some photos on FB and then when Heather came home we went out for a long walk and much faster than I can do with Tot.
Jon finished watching the Grand Prix and we had dinner.
I think I will need to put the winter duvet on soon and start lighting the fire.

Sydney Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Friday We woke after a reasonable night's sleep and after quick showers we drove to the airport and checked in with no problems. Straight through to departures and we had some breakfast. I had a Danish pastry and Jon and Heather had ham and cheese croissants.
Our flight was called and we boarded and left on time. Last time we flew with Pacific Blue was on the flight from Oz to NZ after Thailand last year and it was a terrible flight but this one was fine and very smooth. However, the landing was quite different and we hit the runway with such force we bounced off again and everyone gasped. I think a bit more practice with his landings would not go amiss!!
We decided to take the train from the airport as it was rush hour so the traffic would be bad. It only takes 20 minutes and we were down in Circular Quay. From there it was a five minute walk to our hotel in The Rocks area.
It was only 9.00 by the time we got there so much too early to check in so after leaving our luggage we set off to have our second breakfast of the day. We stopped at a little street cafe in the Rocks and I had ANOTHER Danish pastry and coffee. It was very nice sitting out in the sun.
The Rocks is the lovely old part of Sydney with lots of narrow streets and passage ways with names like Nurses Walk, Surgeons Walk and Suez Canal to name a few. Lots of little shops selling gifts and souvenirs along with the boutiques and galleries. We have never stayed in this area before but we would go there again it was so different to Darling Harbour which is modern and built for the tourist industry.
We then went and caught the free bus to take us to Westfield which is the new shopping mall built around the base of the Sky Tower and was being built when Heather was here last and I wanted to show her how beautiful it is inside and she loved it. We stopped for a drink and went into lots of lovely shops with the Channel shop being Heather's favorite but she couldn't afford anything!
We then walked back to the hotel and checked into out room which was called a junior suite but in actual fact it was a double with a sitting area which had the bed in it for Heather but it was very nice.
It was then out for lunch to a Turkish bar just down the road and we watched the world go by as it was so busy.
Jon and Heather were booked on the 2.30 bridge climb and we went to check them in. They were able to go on an earlier one so I left them to go and get their kit on and I went walking around the base of the bridge and the gardens and took photos of it from every angle. I had been told the time they would be out on the bridge just before 3.00 (it takes an hour to get togs on and all the gear and have a safety talk) so I was watching for them and they did see me and I took photos of them but it was a long way up.
I saw two couples having photos taken all in their wedding outfits and one couple had arrived in a stretch Hummer. I had a few hours to fill so walked around and went to look in the bridge exhibition centre and saw a couple of films about the bridge. Amazingly only 16 men were killed while building it. and although that it a lot when you see how high they were working with no safety equipment it is amazing more were not killed.
I sat in the cafe and had a cup of tea and eventually they came back at 4.30 and after buying some souvenirs from the shop we rushed back to the room and had a quick change before we had to get out to see the lights being switched on at 6.00.
The lights were amazing. I have never seen anything like it in my life. The Opera House was spectacular and to think it is all done with lights. Every hour on the hour they had a Fire Dance display at Campbell's Cove just round the corner on Circular Quay with jets of fire jumping high in the air to music and it lasted four minutes and the heat was very welcome.
We then went to an Italian for dinner which was outside but very nice as we had nice gas heaters to keep us warm.
After dinner we walked around more of the 43 light displays but will have to leave the rest for tomorrow, we were so tired we just had to go to bed we had been up for 21 hours and that was more than enough.
Saturday We had a good night's sleep but were woken with what sounded like elephants coming through the ceiling. But it was time to get up anyway.
We had breakfast in the hotel dinning room which was fine. We then went out to get the ferry to the zoo. It was a nice morning but the sun kept going behind the clouds so a bit cool.
We had a good time at the zoo and noticed that they have done a lot of renovating and are still doing more so it is all looking pretty good. The elephants are the best I think. They have three babies there now and they have such a good time playing.
We got the ferry back and bought some nice mini cupcakes from one of the market stalls on the way back and had a cup of tea and a rest back in the room.
We were off out again just before 6.00 and walked around Circular Quay to the Opera House to get a closer view and also to see the displays around that side. We had to wait for a table for dinner as it was all so busy. We had a nice dinner - Italian again, there are lots of Italians in Oz.
We then set off on a marathon walk all around the displays. The Customs House is the best one and the display there was so clever. At one stage the light effect made the building look like it was actually breathing. They also make it look like it was on fire then filled with sand then water and then made it look really old and cracked before it all fell down - soooo clever.
Heather and I wanted to see them all but Jon had had enough by 10.30 so he went back to the hotel and Heather and I carried on till we had seen them all. We were very tired and must have walked miles but it was so worth it.
Back at the hotel we packed ready to leave on Sunday and then went to bed.
Sunday Well off we go again. Across to the station to get the train to the airport. We had to change trains due to work on the tracks but it is still faster than a taxi.
We checked in and the girl took ages checking our visas and fortunately Jon had a paper copy of Heather's visa or she would not have been allowed to fly!!! So strict UK take note!!!
We went for some breakfast and our flight was due to leave at 11.30 so it would be the only meal we got as Pacific Blue don't give meals as it is a budget airline. We boarded on time but then a passenger was taken ill and had to be off loaded and his luggage found and an ambulance came to take him away not sure what it was but we didn't take off for another 40 minutes so arrived late in Auckland. Although it is only a two hour time difference it makes such a difference. We had more or less lost all of Sunday and we hadn't done anything much! We had 51 hours in Oz!!
Fortunately, the flight and the landing was all good and we got through customs and immigration pretty fast and got the car and started off for home. We stopped on the way and shared a toasted sandwich and a cup of tea as I was so hungry.
We arrived home about 8.00 and picked up a pizza on the way. We were all looking forward to our beds. The house is very quiet without Tot though.

A wet drive to Auckland
After a very wet night we had more rain today - all day. Too wet to take Totty out.
Went to Red Cross this morning and it was very busy. Met my new boss who takes over when Bianca goes on maternity leave next week. She seems OK.
Got home and made lunch and then packed the cases ready to leave as soon as Jon and Heather get home. Heather has now changed her mind and is not going to play netball so we can leave a bit earlier.
I just have to take Tot up to kennels at 4.00, poor Tot!! She didn't like to leave me and had to be carried again.
Jon and Heather got home and we sorted ourselves out and then set off. Although it was raining and not a nice night the drive was pretty good and we arrived at the hotel by 8.30.
After checking in and looking at our rooms which although recently renovated they were not very nice, just had a dirty feeling about them yet they looked clean. Dinner was basic to say the least and it all had a nasty feeling about it.
We won't be staying in this hotel again. We stayed there to check it out as Heather was planning on staying there when she flies up to meet her friend at the end of June but we really wouldn't want her staying in a place like that on her own. You get what you pay for and this was cheap.
Went to bed early as we need to be up at 4.30 to get to the airport.

Where has the sun gone
Really dull and overcast this morning and as my tummy didn't feel very good I decided not to go swimming.
I took Tot out for her walk and then went into town and had a look in a shop I use which had a big clearance sale on and I bought two knitted sleeveless jackets to wear over thin jumpers. I then went for a coffee.
On my way back home I went to Bayfair to have a look in the jewellery shops. I want a pink, rose quartz pendant for my birthday and Jon asked me where he could find one. I picked one out which is really lovely and is in the sale at 50% off till Sunday. The lady has put it away and so Jon will need to go and buy it if he thinks the price is not too much. Fingers crossed.
I then went to another jewellery shop and found one in silver which is much cheaper so he has the choice but I would prefer the gold one.
Got home and did a bit of tidying and finished shortening two pairs of trousers I had bought last week at the Red Cross.
Heather and Jon came home for lunch and after they went back I started my ironing. Carol, the Avon lady brought my things round and stayed for a cup of tea and a chat.
I finished off my ironing and then when Heather came home we took Tot out.
We took Heather out for dinner for her Kiwi birthday. We went to our favourite Italian and had a lovely dinner and finished with a delicious chilli chocolate mousse. It was the best chocolate mousse I have ever had.
Got home and we all sorted our clothes out for Sydney as we need to leave as soon as Heather has finished her netball game.Unfortunately it means we won't get to Auckland till 9.30 so it will be a late dinner tomorrow.

Heather's Kiwi Birthday
Another chat to Kirsty but just a quick one as she had really called to ask Heather to be a bridesmaid as she hadn't officially asked her.
I walked Tot but as usual on Tuesdays she walks me as the binmen are around and she doesn't like them so walks really fast.
I then went off to keep fit which was a small class this morning and only a few of us stayed for coffee.
When I got back I put the dye on my hair so it now looks good again.
As we have missed so many of Heather's birthdays we decided she should have one this month which is the equivalent of November in the UK so today was her Kiwi birthday and I went and picked her up from work and took her out to lunch. We went down to a cafe near the beach and had a very nice lunch and it was quite warm and sunny.
When I got back home it was so warm on the deck it was warm enough to sunbathe so I did for an hour.
I then did a bit of sewing - shortened two pairs of trousers - I haven't done any major sewing since I got here!!
I took Tot out for an early walk as it is Lions meeting tonight so I have to leave early.
Janice was away tonight so went on my own. We had another lovely dinner but far too many puddings. Not sure how some of the ladies fit 'three' puddings in!

A sunny Monday
Did the usual washing today and managed to get it all hung out. Then, the usual Monday housework.
I took Tot for a walk early as I knew Kirsty wanted to phone for a chat.
I had a good long talk to Kirsty about weddings and things. They seem to be getting things sorted out nicely and seem to be heading to the Jockey Club Rooms for the reception and she also seems to have the colour scheme picked out.
Made lunch but for Heather only as Jon had a meeting.
Did the ironing and watched TV in the afternoon and then put the clean sheets back on the beds.
We had a stir fry for dinner tonight.

Sunday
After shower and breakfast Jon and I took tot for her walk to Rotary Park and it was lovely down there until we got round the corner where the wind was coming from so we quickly changed direction and headed up the hill into the woods.
I fed Alison's cats on the way out and picked up the post from her house and Bronwyn's. When we got back I put the lamb shanks on for dinner tonight and Jon washed my car and we then went up to Greerton for coffee.
Our usual place was closed so we went to The Chat Noir and had a very nice coffee and a delicious piece of chocolate brownie made with Belgian chocolate and it was yummy.
When I got home I baked the puff pastry brochettes that I was taking to the baby shower and I also made lunch for Jon. I was running out of time so was a bit rushed.
Managed to get everything finished and got myself ready and Heather and I set off to pick Sharon up.
We arrived at Bianca's house and met some of her friends and had a very pleasant afternoon with some lovely 'little' people. We decorated some baby clothes with fabric paints though I am not sure what the baby will think when he/she has to wear them!
We got home at about 5.00 and then took Tot out and I dropped off the mail to Peter.
Got back and heated up the lamb dish I made earlier and we had dinner.
Jane phoned after dinner and we had a long chat.

Saturday
I was first up this morning and into the shower before Jon, very unusual but he was tired after all his travelling this week.
I had breakfast and put a load of washing on and then Jon and I took Totty out.
When we got back we went out to the garden centre with Heather for coffee.
After coffee we came home and Jon went to the library and Heather and I went to the Red Cross shop to look for some jeans. She ended up with two pairs of jeans and about four pairs of earrings.
A quick trip to the cheesecake shop for half a white chocolate med cake and then to the supermarket for a few bits.
Back home for a quick lunch and then we went to Papamoa Hills Reserve to walk to the top. Jon and I did the walk when we were first here and it seemed much shorter this time but still very steep. The views at the top are worth the walk though. So much easier going down.
A quick walk around the shops at Papamoa and Heather bought two pairs of sandals and a pair of shorts in a sale for £6. Not sure how long they will last hopefully not too long as I priced two boxes to go home when she leaves and they think it will be about £450 so I think she should stop buying things now.
We got back and had a cup of tea before taking Tot out and feeding Alison's cats on the way.
I cooked a Jamie Oliver 30 minute dinner tonight. It was really good but did take more than 30 minutes and I used so many pots and pans the kitchen looked like a bomb had hit it. Unfortunately for Heather it was her turn for dishes.
I wrapped up the presents for the baby shower tomorrow so that is all sorted now.

Friday
Pretty cold this morning when I got up for a shower.
After breakfast I took tot out then hung out the washing and went to the Red Cross. Les told me she hadn't been given the job of manager for when Bianca, her daughter goes on maternity leave. it is a real shame as she has worked so hard in the shop and covered for Bianca so often. She will need to step back now and let the new woman take over and not do all the hours she has done as it obviously was not appreciated.
We had a busy morning and it passed quickly.
Got home and did cheese on toast for Heather and I.
Went out to the library to take books back this afternoon and did a bit of shopping.
Came home and had a cuppa and then took Tot out.
Heather came home late as she went for a drink with Emma.
Jon's flight was 10 minutes late but Heather went to pick him up and got the fish and chips on the way back.
WEATHER
Cool but sunny 17 degrees

Totty has a pedicure
After a cold night I woke up to a cold bedroom - I should have closed the window last night!
I had to remember not to feed Tot as she was going to the vet for an x-ray, sort her anal glands out, inject her paw and have her nails clipped.
I took her out for a walk and then took her to the vet at about 9.30 and she was not a happy doggy.
I then went for a coffee at the garden centre before going to do my supermarket shop. It was so sunny and warm sitting there, I can't believe they say it is only 17 degrees!
Got home and made lunch for Heather and I and she was late, again!
After lunch I went to help sort books at the book room. We have got things under control at the moment so I hope it stays like that.
Went straight to the vet to pick up Tot who was very happy to see me. The had made a fuss of her though and she had sat in with them while they were having lunch (I think that may have been cos she was making so much noise barking in her cage). The nurse had also taken her for a walk so she was well treated. The x-ray showed no arthritis which is good so hopefully the cortisone injection will stop her licking her paw and making it so sore. Her nails are now short and so she makes less noise when walking. And all that cost $264.
Back home she was very subdued all night so hopefully she will be OK tomorrow.
Heather and I had early dinner as she was going to play netball at 8.00. Unfortunately, there was a mix up with the times of the games and when they arrived they had missed half their game and so she only got to play for a short while and was very upset as she really enjoys it.
Watched TV and now it is time for bed.

A chill wind for swimming
Lovely and sunny after all the wind yesterday but quite cool to start the day. I went out with Tot and then off to my class and getting into the pool from the changing rooms was cold.
Once we started the class and got warmed up it was fine and by the end of the class the sun was stronger and we were all warm.
We went to a new place for coffee today and it was really sheltered and we all sat out in the sun.
Got home and made lunch for Heather and I. We are doing well on our no carbs at night diet but I am glad we are only doing it for a week. It is difficult for me as Heather is so fussy and won't eat salad and doesn't like much meat other than chicken and not proper fish but she will eat fish fingers!!!! It is very difficult.
I went out to the post office to post yet another baby parcel and to collect my jacket from the dry cleaners.
I thought I would give the dog a bath as it was so warm and sunny and so I went to get a towel out of the cupboard and went downstairs to the bathroom to get her shampoo out. When I called her down she wouldn't come so I had to go looking for her and found her hiding in our dressing room!!! How did she know I was going to bath her???? Really strange. Well now she is all nice and clean and ready for the vet tomorrow.
After cleaning the bathroom of dog hairs I then sat out on the deck in the sun and it was really hot and I had to take my jacket off - crazy weather.
Heather came home and we went for a walk with Tot and then I made a spinach omelette for our dinner which she ate! Now to plan next weeks meals!!!

A visit to the dentist
A lovely day today and I started with a thin sweater on and had to change to a long sleeve T shirt and then change again this afternoon to a short sleeve T.
I was up and out for my dental appointment by 8.45. I was glad it was early as I did not have long to think about it.
As it happens I didn't need anything apart from a clean and polish - not bad for two years!!
I then went to buy more baby presents to send to the UK and then for a coffee where I met Bronwyn and her Dutch friend but I didn't see them till after I had finished my coffee.
I then did my supermarket shop and then came home and took Tot out for a walk. I met the lady from the front bungalow who has MS and she told me they are moving nearer to the town as she has lots of hospital appointments and it is a bit far for her to go on her mobility scooter.
Heather came home for lunch and she had risotto as she is playing netball after work and will be home late. I heard on the lunchtime news that they have had an earthquake in Spain and 10 people are dead.
I then went out to Bethlehem to sort out books for Lions and stayed there till 4.30 and we had nice afternoon tea provided by Shirley and Patricia.
Got home and fed Tot and then took her for a walk.
I watched the end of Downton Abbey which has just started on TV here and not something Jon will enjoy so I record it and I am really enjoying it.
I cooked duck for Jon and I and then we watched TV. Heather came home and was upset that they lost their game.

No Internet so Monday and Tuesday together
We had no Internet this morning so I managed to get a lot more done!
Jon went to the office with Heather and left his car here as he is going to be in Oz for the rest of the week.
I took Tot out for her walk and then did my usual housework.
Heather and I are trying to lose a few pounds and as Jon is away we are going to have our main meal at lunchtime and a light dinner so I cooked a chicken and vegetable cottage pie for lunch and it was very nice.
I did my ironing in the afternoon. I also had to take Tot to the vet as she has anal gland problems again. He is going to have her in again and clean them out and also x-ray her leg as she is limping on it and is licking it so much the lesions are looking very swollen so he is going to inject them. I feel a big bill coming on.
Jon called to say he had arrived in Melbourne and was just off out for dinner.
I took the DVDs back for Heather and bought some wrapping paper for the presents I bought for Bianca for her baby shower at the weekend.
Heather and I went for a walk with Tot in the evening and then we had a bowl of soup. We are both feeling very hungry so I hope this is going to be worth it.
Tuesday
Took Tot out for a quick walk this morning as the binmen were around and she hates them so practically runs all the way.
We have Internet again today. I have no idea why it should suddenly stop but never mind it is OK again now.
I went to my keep fit class and had a good workout and stayed for coffee.
Back home and I showered and washed my hair and then it was time to prepare lunch. Easy today as it was just tuna and pasta bake.
I drove to Rotorua this afternoon to pick Les up. She had been to Sydney as a condition of her visa she has to leave every six months - crazy. The only people who benefit from that are the airlines and hotels you have to stay in!!
The traffic was light so it was an easy drive there and back and the flight was in early. She brought me a nice box of macadamia and chocolate chip cookies back - just what I need on a diet.
Heather and I are feeling very hungry but I keep telling her that is good as we must be burning fat when we feel like that!!! We took Tot out and it was cold and windy.
After looking on the Internet for a 'no carb' meal and not finding one we both liked we ended up having soup - again!!!
I had a coffee later on and now it is time for bed and I am hungry but I will resist. I am glad we are only doing this for four days. I am looking forward to fish and chips on Friday and a glass of wine!!
WEATHER
Both days cloudy with sunny spells and a few showers. Strong winds on Tuesday 19 degrees

Sunday
We were up and waiting for Jame to call and then we saw our neighbours daughter leaving the house all dressed for her 1st Communion and she looked beautiful.
Jane called and we chatted for an hour and all seems to be going well for her and Jason with the house.
I then made scrambled eggs for breakfast and then Jon and I took Totty out for her walk.
When we got back it was time to go out for coffee which we did but only to a local place and I only had a quarter of the muffin.
Back at the house it was nearly time for me to go and do my Lions duty at the Home Show. I met Shirley at the gate and we went in and found our stand. The two ladies we took over from told us they had to take the chairs with them as they belonged to another member which meant we were going to have to stand up for three hours!!!
The time passed very slowly and we had very little interest in people wanting to become Lions. We had a major downpour and as we were by the door of the marquee it was quite windy but we did stay dry which is more than can be said for the stand on the opposite side of the door.
Jon and Heather turned up to have a look around and eventually the Lion came to clear away and take the tables and I was very glad it was over as my back was killing me.
Jon, Heather and I had a look around before heading home for a cup of tea. I was quite hungry as I had missed lunch.
I then went down to have a look at some trainers that Heather wants to buy. They tone your legs as you walk and she needs to check them out on the net before buying them.
Jon and Heather booked the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk for when we go over later this month - rather them than me!!!
Heather and I took Tot out and then I came back and prepared dinner - chicken stir fry.
WEATHER
A few showers some really heavy but not as bad as forecast 19 degrees

A very wet day
It was far too wet to go out with Totty this morning and an outdoor swimming class was out of the question so I stayed home all day and watched TV, caught up with emails and put some photos on Facebook. Kirsty called and we chatted for an hour.
Jon and Heather came home for lunch and we had soup.
I did get out with Tot for a short walk this afternoon but got caught in some heavy rain on the way back.
I had lots of phone calls from people today for various things, Avon , Specsavers, kennels, dentist, Telecom and Bronwyn so my phone has been hot.
I watched the end of the film Cry in the Dark about the baby who was taken by a dingo from a tent. Very sad it was too. Technology would not let that happen again thank goodness.
Jon came home with his new car today. He has the new Mondeo in black and it is very nice. We are back to heated seats but I don't think we will use them as much as we did in the UK.

I took Tot out for her walk and then went to keep fit followed by coffee and a chat.
Got home and had a shower and finished off the housework I didn't get done yesterday.
Jon and heather came home for lunch and then I went out to the post office to post more parcels.
I did my ironing and watched TV.
I had my dinner early as it is Lions meeting tonight so I went to collect Janice.

Housework Day
I took Tot out and then spent most of the day cleaning as I usually do on Mondays. I decided to tackle our bedroom and give it a good clean which included the venetian blinds!!!! I hate them and they are so difficult to clean. Apart from all the cleaning I managed to do four loads of washing and get it all dried but not ironed.
Had more news from home and yet another baby born to Jon's nephew, Dylan Matthew. I also received a nice photo and card from Helen thanking us for the gift.
Jon and Heather came home for lunch and we had soup and just as they left to go back to work my friend Joan rang and as we haven't spoken since before I went to UK we had to have a long chat which broke the day up.
I made a chicken risotto for dinner which we had early as we went to the cinema to see Paul and I really enjoyed it.
We have booked flights and accommodation to go to Sydney at the end of this month for the Lights Festival. Jon brought home information about Vanuatu for our trip in June. It looks very nice and is called Poppy's on the Lagoon and looks very pretty.

Kiwi Mother's Day
A late start after too much to drink last night. Kirsty called and so made it even later to get Tot out and so late we didn't even manage to go out for a coffee.
Heather bought me the Anabelle Langbine cookery book for Mother's Day and I am really pleased with it.
We did manage to get out for a walk with Tot who tried to pull us across the road to Rotary Park, she can be very stubborn when she wants.
We had lunch and then went out to McLaren Falls Park and to the little animal farm that is there. It is very small and not much there but it was a nice afternoon.
On the way back we went to the Warehouse shop as it had a perfume sale on and Heather and I bought Calvin Klein Eternity between us. After buying a different one each yesterday we thought we should buy this one between us, it is very nice!
We then went for a coffee and a mini muffin and as it was the end of the day the lady gave us an extra one each and two roses for me for Mother's Day.
We went to the video shop to hire a DVD for Heather and they do a secondhand book stall there and I got a Maeve Binchy book for $4 and it is a double and I haven't read either of them so I was very pleased with it.
We then went to buy some fish for dinner and then home to walk Tot again.
The weather has been lovely even though the weather men said it would rain.
We had a lovely dinner and then watched some TV

A good nights sleep
We had a lovely night's sleep considering we are on a main road and we could hear so much going on in the street last night.
We went across to the cafe near the Maritime museum and had a good breakfast then back to the hotel to check out and set off to English Corner shop where we stocked up on a lot of things that Heather wanted but didn't really need!!! Cadbury's chocolate - having her here is so bad for me.
We then drove to the Kiwi International Hotel to check it out. It is very cheap and Heather is considering staying here for the night that her friend, Katharine, arrives. It looks fine, nothing plush but it is clean and the dinner and breakfast menu look fine and they allowed us to look around so I think she will be fine there.
We then set off down to Tauranga and stopped for a coffee just off the main road at Woodland Historic house which is open to the public and we will go back one day and have a look around but didn't have time today. We had a lovely brownie and a coffee in the cafe.
The rest of the drive home was fine apart from over the Kaimai Hills which were very messy but fine once we got to the other side.
After lunch Heather and I went to the supermarket and bought some perfume from one of the big shops who had a sale on. We also went into NOOD (New Objects of Desire) which only opened a few months ago and is now closing down. I bought some nice place mats.
I cooked dinner which was very nice chicken with creme fraiche and heather actually liked it, too.

Red Cross so it must be Friday - wrong it's Thursday
I really shouldn't have packed away my summer clothes as it is such a sunny day again!!
Took Tot out for her walk and then went off the Red Cross. As we are going away tomorrow to Auckland I said I would go in today but it has made me think it is Friday.
Busy morning at the shop and I worked with a girl called Dana who has mastered the art of 'doing nothing'. I could not believe how little she did. She managed to walk around in a daze for most of the morning. I really don't know why she comes in. That said she was a nice enough girl, just lazy.
Got home and made a hot lunch for Heather as she had a late netball game so won't be home to eat with us.
Carol, the Avon lady, called after lunch and we had a good catch up as last time she came Kirsty and James were here and she didn't stay for a chat.
I popped over to see Alison to return a book I had borrowed from her and to give her a recipe I had seen in the Sunday paper for feijoa and almond cake and as she has a huge amount of feijoas to get rid of I thought she might like it. I still can't get used to them.
Took Tot for another walk and came back and did my ironing, I am so up to date with it.
Jon came home and we had fish and chips for dinner as we will miss it tomorrow so it was nice and easy.
Heather has a really nasty bite on her ankle and it is very swollen. Not sure what it is but might be one of those nasty white tail spiders but I won't tell her that!!
After watching TV and falling asleep it was time for bed.
Looking forward to seeing Andre Rieu tomorrow night. I don't think the drive up to Auckland will be good as they have forecast heavy showers and Heather might have a hard time with Tot as thunder is forecast.

Another beautiful day
I went for a walk with Tot just around the block as I was late.
Swimming class was good and the sun was beautiful. We all went for coffee and sat in the sun.
Got home and made lunch for Jon and Heather.
After lunch I called Margaret for a chat as she has not been well. Bronwyn called round when I was on the phone so I had to finish. Still no baby so she didn't go to Auckland last night.
Walked Tot then came back and made a chocolate tart.
I cooked curry for dinner shame it always makes the house smell for so long.

The sun is back
I was up and very happy to see the sun again although we had a lot of rain overnight. I took Tot out for her walk and managed to dodge the binmen.
I went to my keep fit class and we were all really hot and it is so humid again.
Went to the supermarket and then home. As I was still in my cropped gym trousers I took the opportunity to wash the showers as it is much easier in short trousers. I hate washing showers!!!
We had lunch and then I packed up some parcels to go to the UK and took them down to the post office.
There is a video of my new nephew on Facebook and he is so tiny.
I popped in to see Janice as I found a nice blouse for her at the Red Cross last week. She tried it on and really liked it so was very pleased. Her friend was there and we had a nice chat. On the way back I dropped some tops in to Bronwyn but she was in a rush as her daughter thought she was going into labour and she was going to drive up to Auckland to look after her granddaughter so she was not much interested in my news. Not sure if she has left yet or maybe it was a false alarm.
Came home and cooked dinner and then took Totty out for her walk. Still very mild and I was out without a coat. I think I am going to have to get my cropped trousers out again.
After dinner we watched TV and then it was bedtime.

A new tiny nephew.
Wow we had so much rain last night and it went on all of today and now it is 11.00 pm and it is coming down heavier than ever.
I was in all day and Tot didn't even get a walk.
Spent all day cleaning and washing and had to use the dryer to get it all dry.
Soup for lunch as we are all trying to lose a few pounds.
Just as I was logging off I had an email from my sister Barbara to say that her daughter in law had given birth. Poor girl only found out six weeks ago that she was pregnant and now she has had a Cesarean as he was breech. All very quick and Matthew George weighs 3lds 9oz and is in an incubator. Fingers crossed he will put weight on fast and be home soon.
Apart from doing some research into where the conference in China is to be held in October I didn't do much else. I did fill out the forms to get my visa transferred to my new passport - another $90.
I am going now as the lights may just go out!!!

Sunday
We took Tot for a walk and I wore my new ankle wellies so we were able to go along the estuary beach which although was windy was very nice.
We went out to McLaren Falls but the coffee shop was closed for refurbishment so NO COFFEE!!!We went to feed the ducks and then did the recycling before going back home to change and then out for lunch to the Turkish place which Jon and I enjoyed but Heather didn't.
Heather couldn't make up her mind as to going to the cinema or going to a netball practice. Netball won and so we were heading home and she got a text from Michelle to say it was too windy and they should play after work on Monday. So we turned the car around and went back to the cinema to see Rio but it was showing in 3D and as I don't see 3D we decided to watch Arthur instead. I don't like Russel Brand and so didn't think I would enjoy it but I thought it was very good.
We got home and walked Tot then had a cuppa.
I cooked a roast dinner and then we watched some TV before going to bed.
WEATHER
Much cooler today 18 degrees and strong wind at night.
